If you're giving the defenders fights they're enjoying you probably should be attacking them in a different way to make sure that doesn't happen.

Don't worry, if you just don't have any sov you never have to defend it

Triggered by: Wars of Sovless Agression, Bending the Knee, Twisting the Knife, Eating Sov Wheaties, Bombless Bombers, Fizzlesov, Interceptor Fleets, Running Away, GhostTime Vuln, Renters, Bombs, Bubbles ?

The trouble with the current sov system is that there exist very, very long periods of time where nothing of significance happens for the vast majority of nullsec.

Look at the 18 months before the Halloween war, or the 10 months after the Halloween war. Very little happened for many thousands of players.

That simply isn't healthy for the game. You can compare fozzie sov to fac war if you like, bemoan the lack of large soulcrushing tidi infused lagfests, but fac war generates content on a regular basis. Sovwarfare generates an annual titan whelp (b-r, asakai), and that's about it. Sure there's a war on now, but how many months did we go without any major conflict before that?

If sov doesn't get a regular infusion of content, you're gonna see eve activity continue to decline. Fozziesov has the potential to create that regular infusion of content.

Fozzie SOV will create a very short term, high infusion of content then fizzle out and be worse.

P.S. Pop region names into Zkill and see what comes up. Provi and Catch normally have many pages of content.

So ignoring the currently ongoing annual slap fight between N3 and the CFC, that's two active nullsec regions out of.... what? Thirty?

Kinda making my point for me, really.

And the reason there is only 2 entities fighting?
1; They are the biggest, with the highest number of bored line members (neither is attacking the heart land of the enemy, just smaller outlying, lightly defended areas). The proposed changes do nothing to change this.
2; There is no-one else in a position to challenge the 2 groups who control close to 90% of Sov (unless the coalitions disband by choice, sov nul will remain virtually stagnant)
3; Provi Catch will always provide more content in nulsec (even post June), as they are not controlled by a large dominating coalition.
4; N3 vs CFC is more like, fighting over 1 region with members from the other 90% of sov they control. Chances are N3 don't really want the region and will simply trade it back to the CFC when they get bored enough.

Fozzie Sov will indeed create content; for a short period of time, until the status quo is found (my guess, about 3 months of push and shove, followed by another 3 for the coalitions to decide who lives where).
We may even see a few new alliances in sovnul but as they will be forced to live in buffer zones, will be living with the knowledge that if they step over the line, either of the groups they are buffering will simply evict them (it will soon be even easier for a 40k man coalition to evict a 4k man alliance).
Renters will no longer have to pay rent to keep sov, instead they will pay protection money, or be evicted by the controlling coalition and replaced with someone willing to pay without fuss.

If Fozzies goal for sov was a few giant coalitions calling the shots, he can claim OP Success.

    My opinions are mine.

      If you don't like them or disagree with me that's OK.- - - - - - Just don't bother Hating - I don't care

It really is getting harder and harder to justify $23 a month for each sub.

A bit ironic how at one point a few years back, CCP Soundwave stated that Eve reached a point that losing players will not hurt. I wonder if they still believe that today.

Yea, he was talking about "the players it's ok to lose", and I remember that the video of him saying it was on youtube but i can't find it either.

Anyways, "EVE is Dying" is just a manifestation of real life "doomsday predictions". This is why ever single year of EVE's existence, someone has predicted that "X game will kill EVE" (one of the funniest tigns I ever read was when someone posted a link to the old forums from 2003 in what had to be the very 1st "EVE is Dying" post lol).

CCP has made some changes that made it to where you don't need so many accounts (you can now train all your characters at once with the same amount of plex it would have taken to maintain 3 accounts previously), and ended ghost training and so forth. And the price of plex and the official end of isboxer toleration has probably also had an effect.

All of those things weren't the 1st 'account extinction events' in EVE's history, I remember when Marauders were introduced how people notice a decline but didn't realize it was probably from people unsubbing salvage alts lol.

There is no real big indication of anything wrong, and it's kind of stupid to equate game changes you might not be in favor of (like fozzie-sov) with the end of EVE (side note, some did that with Dominion as well, proclaiming that "it will kill EVE by makign the game stagnant", it did make null sec stagnant and EVE is still here lol).

Anyways, it's all silly. Like i tell the guy with the "End is near" sign near where I work, i'll say it here: just sit back, relax, and if the world does end you'll be too dead to worry about it shortly after it happens.

The demoscene has the same thing going on.

For OVER THREE FOUR DECADES the demoscene is dying now ...
    ... and it's still dying ...
... and it will be dying in the next decade as well ...

Well I guess eventually it will be dying,
because eventually there won't be coming a new generation of content creators.

But until then it's all good. They actually made this a proper meme.
I wonder how that worked out. Haven't visited pouet.net in years... sheesh ....

Anyhow... EVE is dying... the demoscene is dying ...
... and the part that kind of hurts to acknowledge, is ...

... that there's a good chance none of us will live to see it happen. ^_^
