The logic you're using still applied, but you didn't mind then. Why do you mind now and why aren't you consistent with your beliefs?

I don't think you can use selective logic when it suits you and expect people to agree.

If you were sincere, which let's face it you're not, you would have said this before, asking CCP why PL was placed 3rd and getting more prizes than 4th or 5th when PL hadn't proven itself to be better than those teams.

I think the logic behind that Captain is that Exodus. hadn't lost to a team that wasn't cheating to that point. Meaning their losses shouldn't count against them since they were against teams that were ultimately disqualified.

However when PL was third, there was no reason to think differently because the supposed 1st and 2nd place hadn't yet been exposed or disqualified.

Based on Logibro's post here regarding seeding and quickly (and inefficiently) doing the arithmetic based on Null-Sec.com results, I believe this is the order of the originally 17th-24th placed teams:

Congratulations to R.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N and Ministry of Inappropriate Footwork for making the top 16 and presumably being seeded an automatic place in next year's Tournament. I guess that 78 PLEX can be spent on something else next year [KICK].

I'll go and check my numbers now...

Very bad decision IMHO.

Have those teams beaten all others? Yes.

(Partially) Fixed matches between them - what exactly did it change apart from them having more time to prepare which is perfectly fine with me and very reasonable? They still had to beat the others and they did. From what I understand finals were not fixed.

Splitting rewards between themselves? Why not... Eh some silly rules...

At least you should have the courtesy to not move the loser teams up in the final rankings and you should have left first two positions empty...

Either way last tournament I was watching - silly rules, silly ending...

Very good and very smart decision by CCP. The Alliance Tournament wont' mean anything if the event loses its integrity. Colluding, fixing matches, and sharing information between teams destroys the spirit of the competition. Once that's gone, no one will care about the competition anymore and no one will watch, and that is bad for the game. They did what is in the best interest of the AT and EVE as a whole.

I have to laugh at the rationalizations on failheap.

It boils down to this:

Either what you did (the level of setup sharing, the collusion to not use best setups and keep them hidden, etc) was not an advantage, or it was an advantage.

1) If it wasn't an advantage, why did you do it?
2) If it was an advantage, and it was against the rules, you deserve what you got.

Clearly you sought the advantage in practice, put yourselves in the position to have to make a hard moral choice when your teams met, and failed at that choice by taking further advantage.

You didn't play by the rules, you didn't win under the rules.

Game over.


(Yeah, I know I'm late to the party, but I was on a break from EVE and just catching up on all the old dirt.)
