Any way to get EVE Probe do these tests with lower graphics? Because my hardware can't handle an All Full graphics (maybe if I'm flying alone). Because my results were extremely bad, and I was not even surprised Big smile

Does it need eve installed on the same machine?

Because I installed it on a relativly fresh installed notebook with Windows 7 64Bit and after starting eve probe nothing happens. In the taskmanager I can see the process for a few seconds but then it justs closes again.
If I start the screensaver I just get a black screen.

Well, I am on a slow 2M connection and am not going to stare at a black screen for hours till that download finishes. Alt-tabbing out of it immediately crashes the tool.

http://i.imgur.com/xznv3EK.png I broke it :(

I then closed down a tool that creates multiple workspaces for windows called Dexpot (1.6.14 Build 2439 in this case), and ran it again. It seemed to complete fine.

Note: When I was running this, I had everything else running too (A linux VM, teamviewer, skype, teamspeak, an Eve client, SoundWire, EFT, about 10 chrome tabs, etc.) basically, just like I would actually play Eve.

I'll try it again next time I restart my PC, before everything is running.

Is running this multiple times helpful to you guys? Like I if I run it 10 times trying to narrow down what caused that crash or another program that may foul it up? Or would you rather us only run it once and then leave it?

It shouldn't need EVE installed, but we may have messed something up. We'll investigate this.

cool, tried it;

overall impression is that the benchmark tool is a lot more choppy than actual game play. The other comment I have is that the fleet sizes in the benchmark would probably lean to the "small gang" sizes. The POS bash should be re-done with 50 sentry ishtars, for example. another suggestion: two full cyclone fleets firing missiles at each other. Those are the situations where in addition to server-side issues, graphics stress compounds the experience into "hide all brackets, gfx -> lowest".

Hmm, what are those little semi-transparent things flying around ships in fleet fight scene? At first I thought those are pieces of ships ripped away by explosions but they seem to change direction of flight like drones or ships and they have trails. ALIENS???

Btw, for some reason tower scene makes my gtx780 crawl at mere 21 fps, is that overall amount of disco in that scene that stresses GPU so much? Other scenes have little jitter but decent fps ranging from 48 to 111.

Do we get some nice charts with data after you get some decent pools of results?! PLS PLS PLS :D

On my laptop with a Core i7 and a radeon HD 6990, there is quite a lot of stutter that I do not get in game.

I do love that you guys included a screensaver function, and it really looks sweet on multiple displays. It makes me really wish I could actually play eve that way.

I am definitely looking forward to the use of this to test new engine features, like the demo you guys did with nvidia showing off hardware tessellation.

Hmm... Visually there seems to be a little stutter in all tests, but the results show 24, 93, 90, 53 and 38 FPS. Are you sure you get those metrics right or are my eyes lying to me?

I ran this on one of my older computers, a virtual potato, and was getting below 10 FPS on all the scenes. I think it was the first time I was actually proud of low FPS. In any case I hope you keep us up to date with the testing, especially if there are ways players can help collect better data.

Worked well for me.
The Pos scene seemed to be the worst for me. Only 20fps on 2x660 GTX

Also I love the Super firing Missiles made me laugh

I let it run while cooking dinner and it finished the download. The scenes seemed more laggy than normal gameplay on a NV660. POS was the worst at 14FPS. Oh, and maybe add a borderless window mode? I think many people will be using this mode.

In case there's more people on a slow connection, the cache folder ended up at a size of 675MB for me. Maybe this helps in guesstimating download time.

These FPS numbers are averages for the scene as a whole - the stutter comes from irregular frame rate. We'll be working on smoothing these issues out as much as we can.

Really dumb (like computer illiterate here) question: how do I screensaver?

Nevermind, found it!
