I do agree this is now worth looking into as once could be a screwball read memory address as damage, twice means something in code.

No, because a long int (same data type they use for Dscan distance) allows values from -2147483648 to 2147483647. The issue here isn't integer overflow.


I don't think we can reasonably rule this out as the cause based on the size of the hit. It could very well be an overflow that happens earlier in the calculation.


More than likely they used a 16-bit short/word not a integer. A signed word would overflow above 32,768. This could mean CCP at some point changed some code that made it never expect more than 32.7k in volley damage from a drone.

No offense but this discussion is nothing more than speculation. We really have no idea what data types they use for damage, and the problem could have absolutely nothing to do with overflow. Even if it did, there's no telling here what actually caused the overflow to begin with.

And even if they use short ints, some of the damage displayed is less than the maximum value allowed by this data type yet is still way more than is possible for a drone.
