bypassing the launcher appears to have saved all settings - channels, overview etc.

Don't you think tying the launcher into the web servers is a mistake? Not only is the main eve site sort of prone to time outs, errors and general finickiness but this provides a convenient target for anyone who would want to DDOS your player base.

Same here. I've bypassed the launcher and yet I get this now.

repair.exe saved my day.
That launcher is supposed to patch the game but it is failing at this, but repair.exe still works, at least mine did and having multiple backups from the installation helps a lot.

Also running client directly from the bin directory takes about 1 sec and running the launcher takes 10 maybe 15

repair tool and then exe file worked, and I'm stubborn as a mule. if you hit the back button from the exefile screen the repair tool is there.

what a pile of f* garbage, (lets make a launcher that doesn't work secretly) the only way ccp wins is that they offer lots of sjit for free ei expansion packs but you suffer with their random bugs.

everyone is posting the same results, offline mode repair tools etc... but non work and ccp dev requests bug reports that everyone has the exact same ones yet they disregard them

This is how I fixed the problem here:-

1) Go to the directory where Eve is installed (for me its d:\eve)

2) Run Uninstall.exe

3) No more issues.

***ATTENTION*** -- TEMPORARY FIX

Repair and play.

1) C:\CCP\EVE\repair.exe

1a) If the repairer fails - re-run it until it completes.

2) C:\CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe

The game should load and let you connect without issue..

DO NOT under any circumstances re-run the patcher or this will break and you will have to do it over again.

Note - This took me about 5 minutes for the repairer to run.

I am in "Offline Mode" and the game gives me "incompatible protocol" when I try to launch without the launcher.

I cannot access either of the sites in the previous DEV post.

Oh the shitstorm... seems to be a sneaky little bug, from what I can guess with my limited insight, the server holding the launcher content (https://client.eveonline.com/launcherv3) takes too long to respond when the launcher makes a request and therefore the launcher assumes that you don't have a internet connection and sends you to Offline mode.

I can connect to both links but the one to the launcher content is slow as hell, takes about 3-4 minutes to load. could simply be a overload issue with too many requests or something like that.

I can bypass the launcher to get to the login screen, but when I do it says:

Server: Tranquility
Status: Incompatible (protocol)

When I try to log on anyway I get:

Connection Failed
Incompatible (protocol)
