Something I saw in the marauder thread:

Give marauders a small industry hold that makes new ammo (depending on the T1 BPO 'installed') from junk salvage, producing a few thousand rounds / day so that marauders can actually do what their description says.

Re-invent the ship slotting system:

Weapons (duh)
Utlities (Neut, scanners, points)
Tank
Propulsion (AB / MWD, Enhancers)
Special (Cloaks / bomb launchers / Command links)

And that's it. No more high, low, or medium slots ever again!

Lazors that do more than EM/Therm damage, but require 1-shot crystals that evaporate upon use and blasters/rails that can do EM damage when fitted with long-lasting lasing plasma ammo.

the 'properties' windows of planetary buildings (where stored items and routes are displayed) are too small and not_resizeable. they should be resizeable!
