I think its safe to say that those monocles didn't deliver the 20% increase in profits CCP wanted.

No prizes for guessing where that 20% of cash is now coming from.

That is sadly true.
If CCP wants to focus on development and at the same time needing to lay off people, getting rid of the community team would be the first step. They don't work on the code and overall speaking does hardly anything when it comes to development.
Their area lies elsewhere which CCP apperently has no need for right now.
Can always hope that with the winter expansion that people will return and Fallout and the rest might get re-hired or someone just as suitable.

Listen, in this economy, it's not surprising at all to have this sort of a "mass" layoff. And I think 20% would count as "mass". There have been plenty of much better companies than CCP in the last 36mo that have done similar layoffs.

Yes, but as Grey Stormshadow pointed out, if you have to lay off Twenty Freaking Percent of your workforce, it's just not going to be pretty. For all we know, CCP cut the community managers to save dev resources.


Also, the cynical contrarian in me thinks that most of the player base has a "actions speak louder than words" attitude, in which case why would CCP need PR guys? Straight

However, I do agree that charismatic and respected PR/community reps can make subs sticky, and I too, was surprised by the loss of Zymurgist and Fallout until I realized that this is Eve, and charisma is the least useful attribute. (...and now we all know why I don't do comedy for a living.)

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Im probably just going to be punching in the air, but the stupidity of the recent threads and posts really annoy me and i am bored, so here it is:

You have absolutely no idea if the people got fired deserved it, from a business standpoint, as you do not take part in said business whatsoever. You've only seen some employess writing stuff. You have no idea what they are doing in 99% of their time.

And firing the managers, thoose employes probably have been invonved in making dollar millions for CCP, and now they managed to lose a tiny little part of it with a few bad decisions. You don't just fire someone couse he/she made a mistake after years of moneymaking for the company. Such things only happen in movies. And probably said managers took a large part in this refocusing aswell.

Same thing goes for Hilmar.
