If it's not their equipment that's all they CAN tell you and take it up with the equipment owner. It then depends on that equipment owner's SLAs to CCP and others who may came off the connection in the same data centre. If they can't take it down as it's a single point of failure (which shouldn't normally be the case) without breaching an SLA then they will weigh it up against any penalty clauses.

penalty clauses? Do you know now I can't even play for more than 2 seconds before the whole network just stops responding while I wait for that socket out error? Seriously I wish people like you were experiencing what all of us are...

This is happening all the time since the last expansion and is quite annoying.

Happens on both toons but not always at the same time. Sometimes it only happens to one and not the other, mostly if the toons are in different systems, but not all the time. Does not really seem to follow a predictable condition

VPN made no difference, pings looked good, no steam running. Have tried with JUST EVE running, same issue all the time. I don't feel its my ISP issue or settings at it just seems too inconsistent and does not always happen on both clients.

Just got the nefarious "socket closed" issue again. I could be online and playing for roughly 2.5 minutes to 5 mins. before getting "kicked", and eventually itll just give me the message at character selection. Doesn't seem like there's any real solution. I see people arguing even on the forums here, as to what may the cause may be, let alone, the solution.

not quite sure how I can help the situation but i'd love a simple answer, especially if its something i can do on my end. does VPN help? Im hearing Port Triggering/ Forwarding.... and now it seems to be caused by fiber optic lines.

This happens way too often. At least once a week for a few days at a time.

You're lucky as sometimes I get it every 2 seconds, it's not even funny. Oops

Problem is fixed for me easily!
That's how you could fix it, too:

Just disconnect from your Home Network on Windows 7 if you've connected your Computer to another.

This worked perfectly for me.
Problem solved.
Also it fixes some crash-problems in other games I've found out but I don't want to advertise ;D

Greets,

Shinni.

Thanks for the "solution" sadly I can guarantee you it'll come back. What you were experiencing could just be a coincidence. Ic an tell you at some days I Id in't have the problem at all and I thought it was because I was running multiple accounts and then got bashed again by the problem. Well we'll see if they fix it in retribution seriously this thread should the Dev replying frequently instead of us paying customers trying to solve a problem that is greatly impeding our gameplay experience.

Yesterday I had this error 10 times in 2-3h or something.
Tonight, with I don't know how many people in local, zero issues in the past 2h.

Only in EvE...

Hello fellow EVE'es,
I think I've found out another solution for the "socket closed error" in EvE,

That's how I hopefully "fixed" this Problem:
I've resetted my Nvidia Graphic card to an older Update after I've seen a "bug" caused by an Update of my GC.
By left-clicking on a free space (dunno how to describe it, my English is not perfect *geez*) in EvE, all of the texts and my whole UI blinked.
So I decided to "downdate" my Graphic Card in the Hope, that this and other issues of this update has caused this error.

Now, after I've did it, the socket-error issue didn't came to me for one or two days ;o

Hopefully it helped,

greets,

Shinni.

Hummm... I've been thinking. Nvidia's current drivers are crap for windows 8 because it doesn't utilize all the new graphics features of windows 8. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the drivers not being able to use the graphics cards properly with EVE. just a thought.

Socket errors, disconnects every few minutes. Internet is monitored at 115/40MBs with zero packet loss. Running 8-15 accounts on one computer and it is random drops on random accounts. If it was my internet I would loose all 8 to 15 accounts at the same time. Yesterday I had the Black Screen on all accounts. Thanks for fixing that, hope that someone fixes the socket errors today.

If you're running Windows 7/Vista try this: Lag in Online Games

Worked for me.

Which is fairly representative of most pings. It looks like I am frequently losing packets (around 50%) in the London bounces. Anyone have any fixes to route around that area?

Same thing here. Each and every day , for two weeks already, I cannot access Eve in the period of time between 16:00 to 20:00 (EVE time). Even if I manage to enter someway - I have constant disconnects and lags. My overall internet surfing is ok, but EVE.
After some chatting with ISP tech service, they managed to route me through Frankfurt, and I could play EVE, but yesterday the route have returned and crap! same thing happens again.
Ping Plotter says, there's over 50% packet loss at node 4.49.139.106 ae-2-52.edge4.London1.Level3.net ((.
Can anyone advice smth on issue, as soon as it seems like THAT London connection is bad for capsuleers?
