Ya but I wonder how long the dreads will stay as they are. All the dreads besides the moros get about 8~9 K DPS with similar fits while the moros gets comparable range with blasters but gets 12.5 K DPS lol a bit OP but man is it enjoyable being a mini erebus.

Aaaaand i understood nothing Oops
I really need some more EVE training before DUST comes out. :D

Don't worry too much. Subcap warfare will always be more fun, and more challenging, than anything involving capital ships. Cadinie was wondering about a possible Moros nerf - which is probably inevitable (even though a blaster Dread SHOULD have the highest DPS of the three, just not by 30%.) However - whether Moros gets the nerfbat or not, it won't affect their usefulness in the end.

The thing to know about capital ships, if you're a new(er) player, is that they are not like subcap ship in terms of obsessing over "teh best" for a situation. You will have fanbois who swear the only carrier you should fly is an Archon, because armor tanking is more common in fleets and the Archon has the best tank. But the bottom line is that in the end - having a capital dropped to support your fleet is such a game-changer anyways that the differences between them only shine in very large fleet situations.

My advice to those contemplating cap ship training - pick the one you want. Not based on stats, just fly what you want to fly. They are big and cool looking and they all work well. When you need a POS dismantled, or a fleet saved by triage reps, in the heat of the moment no one's every going to look at you and say "we need a dread, but not THAT dread" !!

The same will be true for Dust. When you need some Dustbunnies nuked, only a Dread will do. It'd be cool if there different damage types meant different things in terms of ground impact (maybe lazers cause some kind of heat damage or EM interference, while projectiles rock the ground and cause earthquakes) but I sincerely doubt it. My guess is that a nuke is a nuke is a nuke, Eve balancing changes aside.

I should add, for those that are unfamiliar, that a Dreadnought ONLY works in Siege Mode more or less, meaning they will not be receiving repairs while active and therefore don't have to match tank types with others in the fleet. You can bring whichever you like to a fight. (And Cadiene is right - 30% DPS imbalance wont last long. I still say train for whatever one you like cause either it will get boosted or the Moros will get nerfed. )

Carriers, on the other hand, have an exception to the "cap is a cap" mindset I promoted above - Carriers often work in pairs or more if NOT being brought just to use Triage mode to support a BS fleet, and end up repping each other just like subcapital logistics do. In this case, its best to at least have tank type consistency throughout the fleet if you are using more than one. If your buddies have Archon's and Thanny's, You can bring those or an armored Nidhoggur, don't bring a Chimera.

Now, back to Dust 514 Beta chatter :) Just thought I'd take an educational moment since someone asked.

I think there should be a rule that there can be no more tweeting about how fun Dust 514 is from EvE developers playing in their spare time until we all get our beta keys.

Yes?

Yes it could DragonGrace. The kind of beta that CCP is going to release is pure marketing hype. Real private betas require input from the players through detailed reports which most players will never give. That's why most game devs do most of their testing internally or through non publicly advertised closed betas.

i project the beta going live around the 24th when the next update goes down.... im thinking that it would be about the perfect time and also it would be nearly a month since the beta sign ups went began.... also assuming that the dev blogs mentioning dust are true and the game will roll straight from beta into the regular game then that means the beta will need to be on TQ from the get go and though they will probably keep eve players from affecting Dust in the beginning there will still need to be updates that allow for the potential for eve players to intervene and its seems to me that the new updates would be a great cover for them

Somehow I don't see them going live on the 24th. We have already seen a glimpse of the pimped out new planetary UI they have been planning for EVE when dust 514's resource system (whatever it may be) comes along. With no UI in place, no "new resource system" and nothing that can obviously be tied to dust being in sisi right now besides the wtf cannon, I doubt that the next EVE release will coincide with the dust release unless by pure coincidence .

If SISI starts to see odd new things like a revamp in PI or a new planetary menu being greyed out but still there, and when more things start to be seeded in the market involving dust, THAT is when we will know dust is coming. As we have found in the past, CCP is nice enough to actually use sisi as a development platform. We get things on sisi that are far from finished products, and as such, we can get quite the fair warning/heads up for when new major things are coming our way.

Thats going to be ******** if I have to have Plus to be considered for this Beta CCP. I really hope it isn't that dumb, or another dumb CCP decision would be a better way to put it. I would have to buy Plus to play your beta? No thanks. I already see this Dust/Eve symbiotic thing being a fail cascade event shortly after it launches.

There is in fact a group of playstation testers outside the playstation plus network, we do get beta's that the playstation plus members don't and usually before them so that the bugs can be ironed out.

Occasionally they recruit through the playstation forums.

Edit: we're the ones with the cool little beta logo's by our names

im not just saying that DUST is gonna be fun. im purely excited about how the already MASSIVE universe that is eve online.....IS GONNA BE BIGGER on a 3 dimensional level. :)

for years i have been waiting for this game....i have always respected developers that dont stay safe. esspecially when they make it work....eventually (what with CCP being someone notoriace for slightly flawed releases)

i cant think of many more devs who create a game....scrap that....a service (which is what this essentially is as its an mmo) and sit there and say "right, cool, we have a great product here.......what missing?" i admire that. other MMO's like WoW for example cash in constantly. little innovation, dated tech...all they do is spawn expansions to top up the wallet. well, i know there is more to it than that of course, but in a nutshell......im not far off.

anyway. WOOOHOOOO!!! lol

but if it bugs you that much, i shall shusht about it :P

i agree. the fad as of late in gaming marketing strategies is "release delays" and "beta's". in both cases, the game is usually finished. take Gears 3 for example. could they make it even more blatent that they just moved the release window to make sure there was no competition? they even said it was finished before they delayed it...and then released a beta (demo). its abusing the fans i think.

ah, but what can we do? lol i just cant wait for DUST. for a long time ive been filling time waiting for this game to be released.
