So here's my 2 cents worth of comment regarding the new probe scanner interface. To preface, I live in W-Space where scanning is Life. First, I like the button layout, it looks clean and feels authentic. But that's about it. My biggest problem with the interface is that static red bubble that cannot seem to go away. It really interferes with the signatures.

When there could be a solution to that, i'd be more inclined to adopt it. Until then, I'll stick with the original.

Someday, SOMEDAY an update will not be primarily focused on the Amarr. SOMEDAY the races will matter again.

...someday.

Yes, I had to disable it for the moment, one of the reasons is that the scanning interface is messy. The way it displays signatures and other celestials is either not clear, too prominent, or too messy.

Also there are a lot of bugs still on there. Resizing the probes keeps wanting to either bring up the context menu or drag the map for one. Also ignoring results doesn't seem to always remove them from the map.

I will have a go again later at using this but for now it is still needs a lot of work.

Hi!

I find it pretty cool to be able to direct the cone of my DSCAN toward any object in my Overview.

Is there any way to do so with anomalies and cosmic sigs?

Keep the good work!

Thanks

Prior to the new windows (which are great) - the way we would update the distances of anoms/sigs after warping around the system, would be to check/uncheck the "show anomalies" box. While I know that you can go into the filter and toggle it there, its alot more tedious now.

Suggestion, when we hit dscan, could you update the distances in the probe window please?

The probe scanner could still do with a basic update that allow players to only display FW complexes. Tiresome having to manually right click and ignore all the other stuff in a system. None of the setting appear to allow for limiting it to display on FW complexes so I'm stuck seeing all combat sites/anomalies or nothing at all.

I also don't like the appearance of the new probe scanner. It's much less clearer to look at FW complexes than it was previously

Heading out soon. Just wanted to post the current list of confirmed issues for Probe Scanning, Solar System Map, Directional Scanner and Beta Map from today's release.

  • Probe Scanner window background doesn't obey transparency and pinning coloring
  • D-scan visualisation is not toggleable (workaround: Close D-scan window)
  • Probe Scanner Window becomes active after each session change when stacked
  • Signature List in Probe Scanning Window snaps to top after each scan
  • Probe Scanner width settings are not retained
  • Probe control box does not always display to users (Workaround, press Shift)
  • Probe Scanner filter hotkeys react negatively with Save Location (Workaround, don't use numbers in BM names)
  • Signatures in map no longer appear after one has been selected
  • Now takes 2 clicks to launch Custom Formation
  • Beta Map appears all white when used when docked for some users (Workaround: Undock, or use old map)
  • Solar System Map in full screen mode covers up HUD
  • Keyboard shortcut for Dscan refresh works only when dscan window is not active if bound to a letter

  • Don't panic if you've given feedback and it isn't on this list. Some issues we want to wait with and see if a lot of people react similarly or differently before deciding on a course of action. Also note that just because a defect has been raised, doesn't mean it will get fixed in the way you imagined. Thanks so much for all the feedback and bug reports today - more tomorrow!

Just to add the probe scanner filters don't appear to work. Tried the two default ones but they don't do anything.

    Hi!

The new probe scanner looks awesome in principle, however I have a major problem with it.

When your cube that represents all drones lands behind an icon for a moon, belt or anything else (considering I already turned displaying probes off), I cannot click and drag to move my probes AT ALL when trying to drag around the cube.

I had situations in Systems where all 4 arrows AND the cube were covered by icons, which made the probes unmovable.

it would be awesome if the icons and the popups that show up were not layered OVER the cube and arrows that move your probes, otherwise using the new probing system seems to be quite problematic!

Sorry hate the new scanner window and new graphical solar system scanner map (crap). Can't see anyone using it - just so glad its still a choice. Immediately reverted to the previous style window and map. The new star map introduced a while back is also a bit of a confusion, and I wont use it either.

I don't often post, but I was very VERY annoyed at having to investigate if I could change back to the previous style in general settings. I thought it inconsiderate in imposing the new style by default - that needs to be unticked by default NOT made the default.

Its a great game but - if that had not been reversible, I would have quit the game, and cancelled my ongoing subscription. That is how much you annoyed me with this change and having to investigate how to reverse it.

If its not broke don't fix it for the sake of something a bit more fancy looking - please!

Even more interesting updater hijinx..... Now it is randomly and sporadically opening DOS windows... entering nothing and closing them. Also after it does that I am logged out of the client.... Some explanation as to what you are doing to our systems would be appreciated.

At first, I was going to say this is one of the most content-free updates released, on par with Galatea, adding just 'skins and tweaks' and nothing actually new. Then I saw this:

Added an option in the audio menu to allow players to opt out of the dynamic music system and play only the original 2003 EVE soundtrack.

This is now my favourite update since the 'mini updates' started.

Dynamic music was utter garbage. Maybe it was because all the decent songs were 'selected' for areas I don't travel in, but it means I can now run two alts on one machine and have proper eve music on without having to have an internet explorer window open on soundcloud that always got in the way when you were alt-tabbing between alts.

I like the new Dscan window layout and the probe scanner ui is great!

A big issue I have with the new dscan is the inability to change the directional scanner direction from the map view. I do a lot of my Dscan work from the map view and it does not seem to change the direction of my scan by rotating the map view. This is using the new map or the old.

EDIT: Found a checkbox that is a bit hidden that enables this functionality. Just nuances of learning a new map I suppose

i already wrote that in the scanning feedback thread long time ago:i really dislike that you changed the position of the scan button to the upper left corner. It is very unusual to have a button of the primary window function on that location.

there are UI conventions which should be maintained whenever possible, just like the post button of this forum is in the bottom right not on the top left - everyone expects it there without even reading the text on it.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

If I'm understanding you correctly, try the little toggle to lock the dscan to your map view (looks like a little Wi-Fi icon at the top of the new probe window). Net effect is it puts the view directly behind your ship (so any cone dscan you're using will just look like a circle), now you can drag the map all you like and you can see it's re-orienting you in space and you can just put the red circle over anything and you're pointing right at it. Very convenient I find.

Any chance we can actually get the jukebox icon in the accessories menu so we can custom playlist from the 2003 soundtrack like we used to be able to? Cool

1 - Will take it back to the team if there is enough interest in it

    Yes please!
I was really confused at first that I couldn't probe that damn sig down before I realized that it was the dscan range indicator bubble thingy. Big smile
