Gray Play button, not downloading anything.

I've had this problem here and there since I came back to the game 3 months ago. It apparently started for people since their Download on Demand came around. I'm not sure though, but I have noticed that since this last patch on tuesday. I have had nothing but issues. Launcher stays grayed out, clients crash/sockets close, massive lag issue when I open up a 5th account. God forbid I ever open a 6th or 7th again.

All I know is whatever the deal is CCP needs to fix this ****. This is annoying that a LAUNCHER problem has been going on for so long and seems to be getting worse and more frequent, at least for me, after every patch. Having to use the work-around of "Just use the Exe file." is ********. A launcher should at least get me to the client so it can have issues in there somewhere.

How many people have tried to download the game and play it but haven't even been able to get into the game because of this issue?

I've spent the last 2 hours downloading patches with the launcher to no avail. I had to resort to using the repair tool and then copy over the resource cache from my backups to the shared cache folder since the repair tool (and apparently some patches) deletes it. I've already unsubbed 4 accounts, I'll unsub the last 2 when I find something better to play. CCP is either unable or unwilling to address this issue. CCP can go on believing that their players actually want daily patches and hundreds of gigabytes a month in downloads while their playerbase shrivels up.

Change the language on the Launcher to one that's not the usual, then back to say, English. Sometimes this will jumpstart it into finishing to load and allow a login.

Memo!: Sometimes you have to keep the mouse cursor over the Launch window for Anything to update, recheck, etc. So if the language switch does help you, keep that pointer very close or it just might have you waiting multiple minutes anyways...

The yelling man on the previous page had the solution.

Rightclick on launcher background - previous - rightclick on now empty background - forward.

Page loads properly, launcher now works.

CCP this **** is 2004 level facepalm. Feel poorly in accordance to your level of failure please.

Little feedback from this day 1h before the DT:

- I had the gray button issue and I thought I could solve it with the repair tool, but it got worse,
- now, the hole client got gray and it won't start up when I click on the desktop shortcut,
- I don't have any means to install patches now!

For every patch you do have a greater issue than gray button in the launcher:

For every patch the launcher do a error pop-up saying that the launcher.exe can't access the files and instruct me to close my Steam application. You have some issue with a collision with the Steam engine. I don't have EVE installed through Steam and the files aren't in the Steam folder. Therefore shouldn't Eve care about if the Steam application is online or not. You do however have Eve in Steam as a alternative installation and I think you have done something that compromise the Eve launcher.

I have had this many times myself, all I do to fix it is place my mouse pointer on the launcher somewhere and let it sit and the launcher starts its download of any patch or just allows the play button to be useable.

Spent 3 hours trying to patch EVE...no luck. I have a feeling like I'm playing some kind of F2P game...
No answer on petition either..

I've had the launcher stuck at patching 0% bug for months. Sometimes clearing cache helps but often nothing works and can't play at all or i just quit trying. repair.exe crashes every time I try to use it.

POSSIBLE FIX:

clear your DNS cache. at the end of each line, press ENTER
start
type: run
type: cmd
type: ipconfig /flushdns

it will say its flushed poop away and is ready to rumble.
try the launcher again.

if that fails, try changing your DNS servers in your network card settings.

WORKED FOR ME.....hope it helps you. Big smile

Cleaning DNS cache does not help for me.
The only solution that helps me it's download new EVE Online installer and reinstall the game. After that launcher again start to work until the next patch is released.

that sucks.

unfortunately it does not help for me, I even try VPN and dancing with the tambourine but no luck.
Most of the time I can start the game with the launcher, but when a new patch out launcher stops working

Hi

I have just re-installed my O.S (Windows 8 ) Yes I know its S@IT...


Anyway I have Installed Eve and Opened the Launcher Sometimes it will not update and others it will start but is very slow always stops when it gets to 1.16 MB -- 0.7%

"Downloading updates 1.16 MB / 294.53 MB 0.7%? "


I have Tried the Repair tool

Power off PC/ROUTER

Again Tired the Repair tool

Done the Back and Forward god knows how many times

None of the Above is working?

Game and Launcher where running fine before the Re-install.

Any help would be great... Come on Devs 29 days since you Last gave a update on this Issue..........I am Losing sub Time which I have paid for.....
