The new PBR looks great. Jaring to see it applied to player ships and nothing else, but in time that will change I guess.

The map, aswell awesome, looks better but doesn't let go of any of the functionality of the previous.

UI Icons however, with no colours or defined shapes they all look the same.

Ship Fitting, People and places, Character Sheet, Settings and Corporation all look identical at a quick glance.

Same with Calculator, Log and Calendar, with no colours, at a glance they look the same.

Non of them are easy to see and quickly identify because they have very little to distinguish between each of them.

The Contracts icon looks like a grumpy locker.

Poor Aura, What happened to her, She's become a robot from the 60's

Apart from the UI, the rest is good.

Not hit any bugs personally yet, but ill drop them into a report if I get one.

The sense of the GUI is to control and communicate. From my pov it can't be simple enough. Less is more here. For what you need a colorful overdone GUI what will cover the main reason why we play EVE: spaceships in space. The EVE forums are mainly not really representing the opinion of the whole playerbase. I hate this patch, the vessels are so ugly, so ugly and so metallic, the vindicator and Brutix serpentis'edition were black now they are in camouflage and make me vomit. it fills me I did not raise my subscription if it is for controlled toys.

I do not congratulate you, this patch is a failure

The new look and feel of EVE is great, modern and Sci-Fi. CCP did a good job to simplify the GUI. It's less dominant now and visually uniform what is perfect for the reason why we play EVE: flying internet spaceships.

To all grumpy never satisfied hypercritcs here: I suspect that you have to live with it and adapt or ragequit. P

Loving the new icons, LOVING THEM.
The whole interface is cleaner and more easily navigated, I was always confusing some of the old icons so this change is great for me.

New starmap is excellent too.

Good job all round.

How the hell is the new UI simpler than the old 'plain monochrome text on a nice plain monochrome background that didn't freaking change colour everytime we clicked on something'???222???twotwotwo???

I'm at a loss of words ....
Who the **** designed that new ui themes?
It hurts my eyes and my head staring at the screen for longer than 10 minutes.

If we don't get the ability back to brighten up our themes, to make the overall atmosphere lighter and not just so depressing and eye exhausting or get lighter themes - well then i'll be unsubbing. I'm not paying for a game i can't play.

I don't care for the layout or icons or for the new blurring, though the stupid refocusing on switching windows is a pain for the eyes too, but please give us back our sliders, please let us customize our ui colors.
I can't play EVE right now, it just hurts to look at the screen, no matter what theme i try.

Honestly. Live with it and enjoy the game. Forums are waste of time. It takes not long and you will not remember the old GUI anymore.

It will take not long and i will unsub if i don't get color customizations back or a set of bright ui themes.
Simple as that, another lost customer for CCP, not sure if that's really a good choice, telling customers that love their game to "adapt or leave".

Sure I'll live with it if I have to, but I'm hoping CCP will at least include some options: RGB colors and dynamic brightness opt-out, for example (btw, anyone can see that the latter is already quite pointless if you set transparency to zero, as several players have done).

FYI, they already added the transparency slider and the blur opt-out because of SiSi feedback, so it seems forums aren't always a waste of time after all.

I'm assuming and hoping that they realize that the GUI is one of the few things they really need to listen to the players about.

Otherwise it would be pointless to have devs like Karkur and Punkturis constantly tweaking and improving the GUI based on player feedback (<3 you ladies!), while on the other side they just force a massive overhaul that is already showing pretty clear design flaws.

the new map needs alot more work before it should replace our curent implementation. while it does look nice, it looses out in terms of readability in comparrison to the "old" one which is able to display more systems in a readable manner. for a map thats really important. as you already noticed it fails to display certain statistics aswell (like systems i visited).

That so many people complain about headaches is a serious concern. How can you develop computer games without any concern about epilepsy? Giving your customers epilepsy is probably not the best way to keep them around...

Also, the new blink effect of the chat tabs is bugged, if you slip your mouse over a tab by accident it stops blinking. Slightly inconvenient when a hostile fleet of 100 was reported next door in your intel channel... I've reported this as a bug, which it seems to be.

Overall I think the ships look better than before, a nice improvement overall. But as before, why on earth would you have cammo paint on a space ship!? It is beyond stupid! What do you do when enemies arrive and you need to hide: do you activate your futuristic cov ops cloak or do you go looking for a forest to blend in with?

The wh changes sound awesome. Even though I don't live in wh-space nowadays, I would guess that the wh player-base will be very excited. This is the kind of new content you should focus on in upcoming expansions.

Manual flying with keys doesn't seem like something I would ever need.

Thanks for finally getting rid of the annoying clone upgrades!

I can only comment on graphical stuff (so far). I like the new rendering method for ships. Especially turrets on minmatar ships now look more like they are part of the ship. The lack of differing colours on the new icons hampers quick identification, but i'll probably get used to them in a couple of days.
The windows and other UI elements are looking good. I haven't fiddled around with themes on the old UI, so the perceived effects might have been possible to achieve before. But menu bars, the radial menu and so on have a higher opacity and contrast to the rest of the screen for me now, which makes them stick out more and also easier to read. It's also nice to have a constant reminder of what character i'm on at the moment.

Nothing is broken here. And nothing is crap here. The new icons are perfect. Easy to read and less distractive than the older ones. We are talking about Icons and nothing essential for the gameplay. The whole GUI is not so dominant anymore. When you have adapted to the icons they will become intuitive. It will just take a bit to adapt.

no they are not, the icon design is horrible and unintuitive. i find myself looking for the same ones all the time. market, corp, ... only a few ones are intuitive and fitting like the browser and ship fitting screen. alot of it is due to the colour monotone. the icons need serious work.
