these DDOSers need to be strung up by their balls in a very public place and regularly slapped with a wet noodle

Remind me not to mess with your Eve time... I was going to suggest a few months in Mexican prison lol

Confirming that jokes about inhumane prison conditions are top level comedy, right up there with jokes about getting sexually assaulted in prison. Way to take the high road, IIshira :P Though, I admit, your response is a lot more rational and level headed then shooting people in the head lol :P

RollRollRoll

This sucks, it's been issue after issue the past few days and we haven't realy been told what's going on. I, and everyone here pays for this game in one way or another. It's a service that should be provided at all times except the planned and annouced downtimes.

Just give us an answer on what is realy going on!

And yes I have reached the point that I seriously want some kind of compensation for the loss of gametime.

After all that is what I pay CCP for.

Jail time for this? YES! .. making a political statement through DDoS is one thing but ******* with peoples personal lives (be it they're game time, they're internet viewing or any other internet related activity) for the purpose of *****'n'giggles its not far off being classified as torture which is illegal and punishable by prison time .. so yeah jail time for the *******/s pulling this **** is a small price to pay .. me personally with my overkill attitude i would stick them in a hot box in the middle of the desert with loud speakers playing the phrase "it is NOT ok to **** with peoples personal lives on repeat for 7 days ... and if they did it again bullet to the head straight up!

Confirming this poster has engaged in too much emergent gameplay and needs use this brief unscheduled downtime to step away from the computer, gain some perspective, and perhaps realize that calling for throwing people into torture chambers before shooting them in the head is probably not the most rational response to having your favorite video game have a little bit of downtime.

Just relax, Auron. Step way, get some water, take a deep breath - everything is going to be okay. I mean, if not, we can always start shooting people in the head in real life STRAIGHT UP DAWG

/me bangs his head on the desk

I don't usually agree with the things you post... but this one you've got right. Auron Sol, some kids pulling a prank does not constitute torture, take a deep breath and get some perspective.

Maybe now is a good time to purchase a permit for the Tranquility Server?

I'm probably going to lose my two hundred million ship from all this. What the hell is the point of this game anymore if I might just lose everything from a simple connection problem?

Direct Denial of Service

If someone wants to lag that server, they can get rent "proxy" machines, and cause them to constantly ping the server, and they server has to process every ping, so the faster the pings, the more lag, eventually the server will crash

Google is your friend. You should probably use it before you start spouting off incorrect information.

dude I had to deal with ddos attacks on another game where we owned the server...I know what im talking about, it might not be fancy techno babble, but it gets the point across that someone creates a bunch of fast sending connections to the server causing the server to constantly process those packets of information, causing to lag, then crash...

"Distributed Denial of Service"

Renting proxy's has nothing to do with it.
There are no "pings" involved.

Basically, Not a damn thing you said is correct......

do you really think hackers are going to use their own personal IP Address to attack a server? if they do they are stupid, they get proxys to conceal their IP address....the more proxys, the harder to trace.. what I mean by pings is them sending packets to the server....I said ping because its less techno babble for people who don't know.... im done arguing with your know-it-all additude

the fact that you think the "hacker's" IP has anything to do with the DDOS just proved you literally have no clue what you are talking about.

DDOS's orignate from botnets not the "hacker's" IP....

We have established you are wrong and don't know what you are talking about. It isn't an argument, it is me stating facts. Next time just get your **** straight before telling people false ****.

I just hope I don't loss my ship. I was about to target an ice asteroid when the server craped out. And I can't stand the idea of having to submit a petition to get it back and the very long wait from CCP that normally follows with petitions.

I just don't know why anyone would find attacking a server in this manner profitable other then to make an idiot of your self.

They wont give you details, no reputable IT department would allow giving any details that could high light hardware circumstance of downtime as it would potentially expose vulnerability. So calm down happens in every game for once you can't blame CCP. If you want to be pissed and do something get your net+ ccna msce gsec cissp and ceh and go find lizard squad and call it a day

Thanks, Derrick. Really cool of you to say that - I don't always agree with the things a lot of people here post, but I think we can all stand together and agree that a video game having some unscheduled downtime is not the end of the world and that players calling for the actual RL death of those responsible for this downtime really need to just find something else to do for a little while :P
