Disgusting.

You are always accountable for your actions in real life, no matter the cause. You always have the choice to respect other people and their property. For most it is an easy choice to make.

I cannot speak for anyone else, but as a member of the EVE Community, it is personaly insulting that you would willingly deface a physical celebration of something that many of us are proud to be a part of.

Edit: Whoever you are.

CCP, I'd recommend you guys seal the surface of those name plates with some big sheets of clear plexiglass or equiv. Pretty sure a clear sheet of plastic will be cheaper to replace than one of those name plates, the next time one of the mental midgets gets a Bright Idea.

Unless I remember it wrong there are some materials on the market that actually resist both paints and scratches that are designed specifically with vandalism in mind.

Such as http://www.nanocare.fi/plexi-clean.htm that resists oil, water, particles, etc.

Even if he didn't do it, there really is no downside to banning Gevlon from the EVE Community.

I'm not defending anyone, and the person or persons involved should be punished and restitution should be made. Just make sure the person you are blaming is actually guilty and not a victim of impersonation before starting the witch hunt, k?

there is a downside.

gevlon is like that friend you keep on facebook, you know, the one who's page you visit when you're having a bad day. the friend who reminds you that you life could be worse, you could be him.

Absolutely. Didn't name a name, and I have no idea who it could be. This is generalised affront at the offence itself. Original post edited.

Whoever did this needs help. Normal people would just vandalise Xenuria's internet spaceships.

Who is Xenuria?

You cannot prove that there was no WH connection from Hungary to Iceland at that date ...

Well that is rather distasteful, much like the young cretins that think running a key down the side of your new car is OK.

There are RL moral boundaries most people have no issues with, but it's sad to see some are blind to them. It's not an indication of the game per se, for this occurs throughout RL in many forms. But it sure does shine a bad light upon us all.

Destination SkillQueue:- It's like assuming the Lions will ignore you in the Savannah, if you're small, fat and look helpless.

Someone who was so recently involved in a scandal of their own.
Or maybe you didn't realize that Erotica 1 was also beancounter jaynara who was in GSF until he bragged about his little games and got himself ejected from the CFC. There was never a point where anyone tried to hide that he had been in GSF, in fact quite the opposite.

You might get a laugh, but I missed the entire Erotica thing, and am sort of glad I did. What little I've heard sounds entirely sordid, and frankly, and I grant this is based on very incomplete information, I'm sure, GSF needs to take a long hard look at the sort of people it's attracting.

I can remember a time, a very long time ago now, it seems, that goons were respected instead of reviled. That the arrival of goons in system was seen as a positive thing. However, most of those goons, the few that I knew, have long since left Eve.

We knew it wasn't you because there is no blog post with a graph showing your pocket knifes effective monument defacing rate per hour vs the goons ineffective sticker monument defacing rate per hour, showing how much more damage to CCPs killboard, errr external building maintenance and gardening budget you were doing.

Xenuria used to shiptoast a few years ago, and I believe wanted a CSM seat or got one, I can't remember anymore.

To the idiot who actually did this - "Thanks for helping to validate the outside belief that all of us EVE players are assholes you moron."

I also hope that you are only 8 years old so that we can at least have some sort of explanation for your actions. Either that, or that you are suffering from some sort of brain deficiency.

Gevlon is a tool, but I just *know* that he couldn't possibly be responsible for this. While I don't know what were the motives behind this despicable action, whoever did this wanted to frame Gevlon because nobody likes him and won't stand up for him, which makes him the perfect scapegoat.

Workarounds are not bugfixes.

Agree with you there.

Despite the fact that I am not at all fond of the man, I will at least say that he isn't stupid enough to do this and then run and take responsibility for it in a tweet.

As much as I personally think Gelvon is a pretentious carebear with no knowledge about anything except hoarding isk and gold with a personal grudge against Goons that could border on the edges of psychotic, I seriously doubt that twitter account is the real Gelvon.

It's a new twitter. And I don't think even Gelvon would be dumb enough to self incriminate himself on something as lowly an act as this. Irregardless of WHAT you think of a player, an organization, a group, coalition, leader, whatever it gives no one here clairvoyance to deface a monument gifted to the players by CCP commemorating a universe each and every one of us has had a hand in creating in some form or fashion.

In other words, grow the F&^# up. I'd expect this sort of behavior at a Call of Duty gathering, or some other game where the lowest common denominator of humanity happen to sit in front of a screen and play something. Eve as a whole is at least a cut above the rest in it's inherent difficulty, challenges, risks, and playstyle and I'd hope that it's players are a cut above your average feces flinging virtual neanderthal.

Have some respect for each other. I just dropped 125 USD on an Eve Vegas ticket to be a part of some awesome friends and an awesome community of players. I really hope CCP finds this guy. And I hope the rest of us can use this as a catalyst to treat each other with more respect regardless of what we do in game.
