But even though I think the monument is one of the most self congratulatory, arrogant, ego driven wastes of $ (especially considering not too long ago, CCP had big enough $ issues that they had to fire 1/3 of all their employees), the vandalism is still upsetting.

Saddest part is that the culprit seems to think they are doing it on behalf of everyone in EVE. I can't speak for everyone but please don't commit crimes on my behalf (and no matter how minor it is a crime).

I personally don't know who Xenuria is, and chances are I never will or care to. EVE is a game, keep it in the game.

So what did Xenuria actually do to get someone to fly all over to Iceland to scratch a monument with his/her in game character name on it ?
I mean sure I might dislike some people in the game or in RL but I can't see a point in flying 100's of miles on my own expense just to scratch their character name from some statue.

There's a lot better ways to spend a $300 and some I tell you.

There is a deep dark truth afoot.

But as I explained in the great E1 threadnaugt, there is a web forum frequented by cops and soldiers (still can't say what site) where trolling almost got someone stabbed. Yeah, cops and soldiers.

So I'm not surprised.


I think there is potential for astute anthropologists and psychologists to see a new emerging kind of low life ("low" life, not lowlife) here. Unfortunately whatever conclusions they draw will only be taken by governments to push their Internet ID agenda which is intended to stifle the free and open (speech on the) internet.

This is exactly why I stick to myself and my own "guns" in EVE.

And what makes you think it is his account? The Twitter account is brand new with just a single tweet on it and Gevlon doesn't have a single reference to any Twitter account in his blog (if he had one, I'm sure it would be there somewhere as he even put an email address there). This looks more like a very amateurish attempt to discredit him.

With that said, vandalizing the monument is far beyond pathetic. I hope CCP finds the one who did it.

The problem is, it's entirely possible that it was not him that did this. That may be a fake twitter account, he may have just been bringing attention to it. I honestly think it might be photoshopped but the tone of the blue post in here suggests it's not.

Since that was a vinyl sticker designed to be removed without damaging the monument? Yes, actually, that was in good fun. That's a far cry from using an xacto knife on the darned thing!

I doubt it was him. I'm pretty sure that defacing a piece of private property, corporate capitalist art no less, would be a mortal sin under randian ethics. Plus, what exactly does he have against xenuria? Seems like a false flag to me to stir up something against both xenuria and gevlon.

I've been witness to a few pretty horrible things that EVE players have done to one another in game and in the context of the 'meta' game.

But this is over the line. I propose that Gevlon is made Damnnatio Memoriae, just like some others have been. Incidentally, this is exactly what he tried to do to Xenuria.

I propose CCP replace the plaque with his name on it omitted, and have the one with Xenuria's repaired. Harsh punishment? Yes.
