Try running the launcher 3 times. Run the launcher, log in one account. Go back to the Finder, run the launcher again, and so on. Don't rename any files.

I found the "AutoPlay" feature occasionally locks the launcher up. Had to disable it to get it to launch EVE.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

Pleased to say the launcher has been no trouble and a nice experience so far. Both on my 2009 Macbook running 10.6.8 and 2012 iMac 10.7.5 (soon to be 10.8.x).

I don't do anything complicated with it, just log in and go, but that's all I ask for, especially after my problems before with needing to redownload the client after patches. Smile

While I would've missed the old login screen, it was kind of bland since Odyssey. What? I was very fond of the spoke-wheel research station. Big smile Just did a quick test during downtime, and it's very nice that one can log in and hit Play when the server pops back online! Edit: The login screen still appears while the server is starting up.

My #1 request at this point is a Switch Character button. The in game escape menu got rid of its Log Off, understandably. Having to quit and restart is about the same speed as before (maybe a little longer). If switching characters is possible without having to reload all assets and data that would be a boon for dual-trainers like myself. It's something that modern MMOs are slowwwwly catching up with (STO) if they didn't have the feature from the beginning (TOR).

Do not actively tank my patience.

New launcher's annoying and even less optimized for the Mac than EVE itself is.

Basic UI 101 stuff that needs to be fixed:

1) Command key doesn't work. I can't Command-A to Select All when I type in the wrong password.

2) Logging in twice? Why do I log into the launcher, and then the game? And why do I have to CLICK the second button; why do I have to manually pres buton with the mouse? Why can't I just hit return twice?

basically stop making me take my hands off the keyboard, ****'s novice yo

I run both Windows Version and Mac Version. While they do look alike they function differently.

The Mac Client Launcher :

  • has to load the launcher for every client you want to run and closes. this does not happen on the Windows version.

  • No longer remembers User name in the drop down box. The Windows Version does but does not alphabetize them. (Note: After rebooting it only remembered the last logged in user name. However that is the only name it remembers none of my other usernames are remembered even if I last logged in other name and rebooted.)

  • For people that run Multi Clients the Launcher needs to be able to stay running and allow Multi Logins with play buttons listed on one page. (Currently they log in on one page and play on other page with Switch user account under play button.) Switch User account is Useless on MAC since launcher closes after Play button is pressed.

  • While on Windows version (will affect MAC version also when they fix it) having the launcher running at all times with a Play button is a nice feature for when the server closes socket, allowing me to get back up and running quicker. However, when server goes down the Launcher does not recognize this and the play button appears none functional. I have to manually switch char and re-login.

  • When I want to re-login using the ESC Menu re-log button is gone and I have to quit game to change characters. However, on MAC version I have to re-launch launcher and login then click play. where on Windows version I just click PLAY from Launcher assuming I run only one account. Multi Accounts have to switch characters, login then play.

Overall, I like the new Launcher only if I were running one account. This launcher needs to be more user friendly for multi user accounts. Please change the MAC and Windows Launcher to login and have Multi user Play buttons on one page for say 15-20 accounts.

Tiger Bite

I am also very annoyed by the copy-paste issue since I also use long, randomly generated passwords that I definitely don't want to type by hand.

Also, how can this happen in the first place? Copy/Paste is a feature that the OS provides for basically any text input element. You have to either use some really f***ed up GUI-Libs/Frameworks or intentionally break this.

I too have the same issue; however my launcher seems to only remember 2 userids.

It's an embedded web page, so it's using whatever web form technology they adopted, not the native Mac widgets. Thinking of it as a web page makes the, ah, singular behaviors of the widgets somewhat less alarming.

I would really like the Launcher to be able to persist after launching an EVE client. As it is, between that and the fact that it only remembers the last account name I entered, it still doesn't support multiple accounts more smoothly than the Clonemaker does.

And I'm not sure if this is related, but the game is much less stable now. I have roughly 1 in 8 odds of the game crashing on a session change--just now, that session change was my first undock after logging in! That was not true until I got the update with the new launcher.

[EDIT: I will kiss the CCP dev who maps the PLAY button to the Enter key.]

Glad this this topic was already made. Damn what a nightmare having to type the passwords.

I use 64 character long random passwords for all my accounts, having to type them over is nearly impossible.

And then I have to change skills on 5 of them. Typical first world issues but I still hope they get fixed fast!

Since this new launcher I can no longer connect to Duality which I'd do via Terminal. New launcher keeps on connecting to Tranquility and not Duality.

What are the instructions to connect to Duality using the new launcher?

Using a web page is not an explanation or even an excuse for this lack of copy-paste support. Web form fields usually support it just like any other text input field.

There are other web pages that prevent pasting, like the login page on battle.net for example, but to achieve that the developers have to actively prohibit pasting.

BTW, here's the workaround that I use now:

  1. Go to your EVE application (whereever you have it)
  2. right click -> Show package contents
  3. Navigate to Contents/MacOS/Resources
  4. Create an alias of the "Eve Online" app package in there
  5. Move that alias whereever you like.

That Alias now takes you directly into the game and the login works the old way.

Unless they specifically disabled it on the password field, for security reasons.

I've used the Clonemaker to launch EVE clients for quite a while now, and it still works nicely. I've only launched the Launcher when there was an update to install.

New launcher patch came through, password pasting is still broken and the text dragging workaround no longer works either :/

You can use the right click menu to paste; keyboard pasting is being worked on.

I've just deployed a new version to Singularity that has the select all, cut, copy, paste, undo and redo functionality exposed from the browser instance. Feel free to give it a whirl.
