New EVE Launcher available for Singularity

The new launcher is horrible. Logging in an account will take even more time. Why don’t you use this chance to actually improve logging in accounts instead of making it even worse?

In Germany most people have dynamic IP addresses (you get a new IP address every 24 hours). In addition to entering the username and the password those people will also have to enter a character name basically every time they log in.

Also with the new launcher you first have to wait for the launcher to start and then again wait for the client to start.

Why can’t the launcher simply remember username, password and character name? The new launcher should have an option to automatically log in an account and to automatically start the client without any user input. It should be up to the user to choose whether or not it’s safe to use that option.

Thank you all for the feedback so far. We're looking into the log-in and start up time issues, as obviously the time from starting the launcher to playing the game is critical. Hopefully we are able to provide a better experience for this after the weekend.

Furthermore we are currently deploying a new build to Singularity which should be available soon.

It shows me that the server is Singularity and 115 Players are online at the bottom. But there is no way to connect. I get the same error again and again.

I had the exact same issue. I deleted my old shortcut and made a new one, but this time, I added /server:87.237.38.50 instead of /server:Singularity as it was suggested by other players in this discussion and for some reasons, it worked.

I tried this and the new launcher still says TQ for me. I can log in, but I can't launch the game.

I solved it by changing the shortcut on my desktop from "...CCP\EVE\launcher.exe /server:Singularity" to "...CCP\EVE\old_launcher\launcher.exe /server:Singularity".
I'll give your solution a try once Singularity is online again.

EDIT: The new launcher wasn't able to update the client, so I used the old one for this. Now the play button after login in the new launcher does nothing and the launcher shows "100% validating data..." at the bottom for >10min now.

Are the logs saying anything?

No. I launched the logserver, created a new workspace and then launched the new launcher with a desktop shortcut (tried /server:87.237.38.50 and /server:Singularity). No logs.

Another thing is that the launcher starts two processes. One that uses about 3-4 MB RAM and one that goes up to ~145 MB. Closing the launcher (with the X top right) after I logged in doesn't close the processes.

EDIT: It's not terminating the launcher processes after I logged in even if I logout again.

Please see my initial post in this thread for which logs I am talking about. :-)

But it appears that this happens because Singularity was updated with a newer version and we have not published the metadata for the new launcher yet. I am doing this right now.

Sorry for the wrong info.

  • debug is empty
  • cache/launcher.2013.05.03 shows this [pastebin link]
  • there's no launcher.exe.log in appdata\EVE_Online_Launcher-2.1.528861-beta.3.win32\

It does not say anything, oh dear. Can you start the launcher with the /log:debug parameter? Maybe that shows something more. :-)

@ Noriko Mai, read bellow, it may help since it looks like your issue is similar to mine. Warning however: CCP Habakuk's fix "worked" but I had to use the repair tool after deleting the .patch files. (something about my game launching but saying that my version of the game wasn't compatible, but I may have deleted something important accidentally). The repair tool worked but I also had to make a new shortcut after using the repair tool as the old one was creating exception errors.

If you are not 100% certain, I'd wait for an answer from CCP Aporia before doing anything.

Good day,

Following my Issue with the "exception" error, the Windows 8 fix did allow me to launch the launcher.

Right now, I can use the launcher to log, which gives me the correct "you are logged as (my username)" message, but the play button doesn't do anything. I tried giving it more time to load but nothing had happened after 30 minutes.

- The New launcher downloading bar is hanging at "100% Validating Data..."
- I also noticed that the player count it's giving me is the TQ one, not sure if that's normal.
- Firewall is set correctly, temporary disabling the firewall didn't fix the issue.
- When I used the old launcher, the patch did load correctly but the new launcher still didn't get past the validation stage at a later try .

OS: Windows 8 x64
installation path: D:\Games\CCP\Singularity
Old launcher version: V.1.32
Launcher.XXXX.XX.XX log: http://pastebin.com/ez6Gf6Vw
launcher.exe.log: None generated

It seems like you have the same issue as I had on one machine. Please delete all .patch files in your client folder. Could you please also check for the size of EVE_Online_453216-457011_win.patch? It is probably pretty large and somehow causing problems.

having trouble installing the 539mb patch the new launcher lined me up for, seems to stop randomly. Said "there was an error while updating the client".

while we're talking singularity, can you move the BS and balancing changes onto singularity? I won't be able to interchange to duality after you change the launcher without tons of work. Don't particularly want to have a 3rd eve file instance hogging my harddrive.

So I decided to use the SisiLauncher to log into the server and the new launcher started up nicely. Unfortunately, while attempting to download the (~214MB) patch, the launcher stops downloading around the 1-2% mark.

Now with /server:Singularity and /log:debug:

The launcher redownloaded the last patch (I patched with the old launcher yesterday evening) Still the same Error:

Bad Address
"Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong."

  • debug is empty
  • cache/launcher.2013.05.04 is > 18 MB so I had to upload it http://www.sendspace.com/file/9etdeh
  • note: i tried it a second time at 2013-05-04 19:23:35,220
  • there's no launcher.exe.log in appdata\EVE_Online_Launcher-2.1.528861-beta.3.win32\

I hope this helps a bit.

Sisi updated using the new launcher with out prompting. Might have been something to do with how my short cut was set up.
Very large patch but was updating a 4 month old build. Could not test Sisi however because of an updated pass work would not work.

New launcher is terrible. With n - times typing your long pass.

Stage to play eve online now(on singularity server)

1. I need start launcher.
2. Input login,pass. Okay. then
3. Waiting while client running.
4. Input login,pass second time.
5. Select Char
6. Play.

Not really fast.
And also, I can't launch another client.

If I want to loggin mine alt - I need logout from my account in laucher, then input login and pass again.

So button "PLAY" doesn't works.

Why are you inputting your login twice? What Launcher version are you running?
