With all the chest beating that is going on from the CSM, and their constant claims to speak for the playerbase even though they can only claim to represent a subset.

And with all the the constant anti-CCP drivel (some justified, some wild speculation) that they feel free to spout to whomever will listen. I want to know:

What happens if the CSM is abusing it's privilage? If subscriptions are down, is it also not possible that CSM is complicit due to the damage that they are doing to EVE through interviews like the Mitanni has been doing?

Can we, the players that they claim to represent, ask them to step down?

You can feel absolutely free to ask them to step down, but they're under no obligation to comply.

Then they're doing exactly what was expected the CSM would be doing to begin with.

Don't vote for them the next time, but for other people instead. The only entity that can shut off CSM members during their term is CCP and only if they breached the NDA or got themselves a permanent game ban (and maybe some other legal and EULA reasons).

We, the players have only the forums as a channel to state our dissatisfaction. Maybe if we get a post with "Give Mittens the boot!" up to some 10-15k likes, CCP or the CSM may feel obliged to follow that wish.

I've listened to Mittani on Mumble (even interupting in the middle of an op to rave about Eve politics). I've heard the voice and I've spent many hours reading his posts/rants. He's in love with himself, his "social experiment" and acts and speaks like a self made God. I remember a rant recently where he "gifted moons" to his loyal subjects.... Oh my...

Now he wants to rag on CCP 'cos (what I believe) the ratbag element didn't get new ships, new space and more to blow up... yesterday. All the threatened unsubbing, "riots" (lol on this) and rants about bad CCP are just stuffing the game up.

All over mostly trivial matters.

The Mittani does NOT represent my view of Eve and his (or the CSM's) methodolgies do NOT meet my idea of getting something done. Using "the media" to promote "populace opinion" might appear smart to lazy-minded sheep but it's cheap and smacks of a cookies for votes mentality.

To whit. A dog that bites too often is eventually shot.

Nothing happens. They are a (supposedly) ruling body with no checks and balanced other than CCP.

We can do nothing against them. We get to suffer while they destroy the game we like. The only thing we can do is vote with your wallet.

And therein lies the problem. We can vote against CCP with our wallet. But why this be effective against the CSM?

Vote for someone else next time, just like anyone who gets elected. Its not like we elected them to a lifetime position, after all

Oh yeah, and they have no real power, CCP has stated many times that while CSM has to come and do what they say, no one on CCP side has to show up to talk back to them, and CSM has confirmed this to not only be true, but to be one of the reasons its so hard for them to get anything done.

Mittens is going to the media because thats the only group CCP is listening to right now. If you want your voice to be heard, try doing the same, if you have anything valid to say, they will take you seriously

well part of the problem is that CCP made the CSM 12month terms now..

So you get stuck with them for a year, CCP Refuses to do Polling of their own, which if they DID they would at least get proper clear views of what the players want But instead CCP claim they require the CSM.. but the CSM can abuse the system...

What should be done?

Well for a start all the forum and dev blog and crowd sourcing Bull on these forums should be thrown out the window, honestly as the CSM is sooo ready to throw down our throats constatly, We the forum base are a select sub set of the game players, a lot of the eve player base does not come to the forums and likely don't care. Instead they SHOULD introduce Polling on entry to the game, they would not be the first to do this.

Mythic, Sony, etc all pole on login, Mythic used to do it between the login/auth and the loading of the main game.. you could close it out yes if you choose but you could also answer it.. they only did it once every 3 months or so but they asked for a long time what you actaully thought about the changes they brought to the game..

Henec they learnt both by the polling and of course people quiting that by bringing out New Frontiers and Trials of Atlantis they'd made a big mistake..

CCP could do something very much the same a simple Poll asking players when they logged in:

1. What would you like us to focus on
a. Completling Incarna
b. Fixing Bugs.
c. Fixing Bugs and Completing Incarna
d. Fixing Bugs and Finishing items we have already introduced.

etc etc etc.


Ohh they MIGHT claim they already do this.. their global yearly survey, but that is again optional.. full of f'n bugs like most thinsg .. I mean I spent almost 4 hours filling in a survey they claim should be done in 20 minutes.... plus it's only done once a year.

They want what we truely think? Come and ASK US.. with out having any means of any one else finding out the answers we gave..

That way the CSM who use their power / position in alliances etc can't intimidate or claim they know what every player wants etc because hey their no longer the voice.. the PLAYER becomes the voice to CCP and CCP gets the real feedback they are after.


Because hey the csm isn't exactly representing every one despite claiming to.. I've lost track of how many times I've msg'd a csm and gotten ZIP in answers from them.

But there should be another effective avenue for expressing disatisfaction with the CSM now, rather than waiting till the end of their term and hope don't do any damage in the meantime.
