yep still crappin out on duality cant even log in there to create a bug report, i cleared all its cache files and custom settings so i can hear it starting up but alas she doesnt wanna show me the sign in screen!! shes dead jim!! if this does this in december when tq gets the expansion i may just have to quit eve!! too bad i was enjoying the new stuff too, till it stopped working..... but like before no issues with buckingham or tranq just the duality sign in page......

did you have log server running?

Use the normal web site bug report log in and send the file.
what is your short cut window

ok submitted my bug report for it but i doubt thats gonna help much as i already stated my comp runs buckingham and tranq just fine it just wont pull up the duality sign in screen, i can hear it playing the sign in music and it does the black for a moment like its trying to show the screen but then the desktop appears but i cant do anything with it like the screen is up and superimposed if i try i can also type in my password without seeing it and i can hear the connecting voice and still no dice wont show me squat..... also the shortcut is set up like this in the target C:\Users\Adrian\Desktop\duality\eve.exe /server:87.237.38.60

you are missings some quotation marks

"C:\Users\Adrian\Desktop\duality\eve.exe" /server:87.237.38.60

Though if it is pulling it up and you are getting music that should not be what is wrong.

Yesterday I got a first glimpse at what is coming our way this winter. There are a few perks which I don't know will be fixed in the next coming weeks but here are some thoughts that came to mind.

The mining frigate,
looking cool and the first thing that came to my mind is the skill, which could be renamed to 'ORE frigate' to reflect her heritage.

The Thorax,
I like the new speed, powergrid and cpu upgrades. The new added medium slot helps greatly at putting a full tackle onboard.

The Moa,
didn't get the memo about the changes and was still the same.

The new gallente and caldari destroyers,
have a very cool look but unfortunalely I couldn't do any kind of performance testing on capitals and Vindicators online..

A little note for the people on the test server,
YES A MACHARIEL CANZ KILL A CRUISER THERE IS NO NEED TO PROVE IT OVER AND OVER AGAINZ

The UI changes,
are a little confusing at first and I would have liked my damage notifications to be in the old yellow instead of the blue-ish.

What could be done would be the following,
- Damage recieved in red (no change)
- Turret misses in white (no change)
- Damage done in yellow (instead of the blue)
blue calms people and you could think that the blue notifications are information notes like 'ABC is webbing / warp scrambling / neuting you'
- and maybe a textbox with increased letter sizes, so that the notifactions don't appear to 'float in space'

I like the new 'target bubbles' I just need to get used to them.

Another note on ship information,
I like the 'stories' which are told in the information tabs for ships and the latest development looses at ton of the backstory of New Eden.
Now there are 'traits' on the the information tabs which take away all the lore on the development.
I don't know if this is intentional for all the younger players to comprehend what the ship can do or the guys at Duovolle, LaiDai, CreoDon and the like just got lazy in development but I won't point fingers here.

Mayby you can put some love into the information tabs and rename 'traits' to 'Races Frigate / Cruiser skill bonus' which just sounds better.

Talk of a new build tommorow not confirmed. Duality build is over a week behind the dev build currently.

New damage notifications are going to give people a siezure. They need to be moved to an additional "combat log" window. There is no way anyone can read those notifications as fast as they pop up on the screen (and I just tested in a sanctum), it was scrolling so fast it gave me a headache.


Other than that, the missiles, effects of hits on your ship, targeting icons, etc look fantastic.

wondering if the mods could help with that or something.

Had the briefest of looks at duality, did have not had chance to try out all the things I hoped to look at but here are a few thoughts on those I have so far…

The UI changes
The good
For a long time CCP has said that it wants to get more information off the overview and onto the main screen. The circles will take a while to get used to but they look nice and the human eye is good used to looking at clocks etc, it’s easier for us to judge a ring completing over a bar (see also model timers).

Some visual feed-back on range of ships, aggressive actions and health area all steps in the right direction; I am sure that all this good stuff this will be iterated upon and optimised. The scrolling combat text is defiantly an improvement over the previous combat message spam.

The not so good

In a big fight the screen started to look a little cluttered when lots of ships were locked though again but then this just might be getting used to it and it will melt into the background when it becomes second nature to interpret all the visual cues on the fly.

I would like to see some customisation options for the scrolling combat text thingy.

...Before I go on, yes I have played WoW on and off in the past, deal with it! It’s not as deep a game as EvE (or as interesting, unsubscripted and a tonne of other things… WoW has many floors but a few things it does, it actually does very well; the UI and modification of the UI is one of them. Now that combat information is not immediately overwritten with every new event it’s possible to actually read some of it which is clearly good...

The trouble comes when there are lots of events, particularly when drones are in play. Important information quickly zooms off the stack and is lost. Filters would be nice and or the ability to have enemy actions and your actions scroll different ways (up or down). I am not sure how but at least separating drone damage out somewhere would probably help.

Some of the ship portraits could use being re-captured as they have been framed for the square portraits and clip and look at odds with the circular frames.

New sounds
This is a tricky one, I go the impression that the sound files were not working properly on the current build. Music was constantly playing and could not be stopped and the warp and jump sounds were very odd. I have been a big advocate of updating EvE’s sound font for a while; it was something that I suggested a while back in one of the surveys. A turret sound revamp and new music… possibly some kind of RNG ambient music generator which was tied to location and/or current situation (combat, exploration, WH, empire/faction) is what I would love to see.

I can’t give feed-back on these as I think my sound was acting up, on whole good direction, but form what I could tell form my limited experience some care needs to be taken to make sure each kind of turret retains a distinct sound and the larger turrets did not sound well meaty enough.

Ship Balancing
Thumbs up to CCP for the ship iterations and the removal of the tier system, giving many of the underperforming T1 hulls new roles and reinvigorating them can only be a good thing. I am sure that “the balanceanator” is going to be having a headache for the next few months once players figure out new tactics and fittings for them all. No specifics here, not flown them but on paper looking good.

Minmatar Ship Skins
New minmatar ships look fantastic; the only real loss is jokes about explosions in girder factories. Yes lore wise in the early days most mimi ships were welded together by the A-Team in some random room full of the parts needed to make a tank or at least a battering ram… I was always wondered where their kept their welding torch and acetylene where the guards didn’t think to look!

The new Tempest really is inspired; it captures the essence of the old hull while making it look awesome and new. I don’t want to break the heart of some of the art team but I am not so sure about the Vargur variant. The idea of the T2 variant of the hulls looking slightly different is constant with many other hulls.

I am not quite sure what is wrong, the shape and angles of the heat-sinks / solar collectors (or whatever you want to call them) of the new Tempest hull fit perfectly, while the circular variant looks cool but I personally don’t think it fits the angle and style of the rest of the hull and it’s armour plates. Perhaps it the surround on the vanilla tempest hull, makes them look like they aren’t about to snap of or shatter if the ship brushed up against something. Maybe it’s the variation of the forward bow; again the angles don’t complement the rest of the hull like the new vanilla tempest does. Just my opinion but I thought I would open it up for people to discuss.

You should be able to log in right now. That said you probably didn't make the mirror of the TQ server onto the Duality Test Server.

So, i have tried out the new build, most of the opinions have been already mentioned by others, i'll mention only one that keeps on bugging me since like forever:
The locked target strip! It still has no friggin' option to set the desired amount of targets per row and only wraps upon reaching the very edge of the screen, which means that some targets may potentially become obscured by other UI elements, like windows (ehrmagherd!) or the system information panel in the top left corner. Please, for the love of god, it shouldn't be that difficult, introduce the friggin option!
