Everything before and after this part of your post was good.

Faction mods are a big no-no. Even if they aren't that expensive people will gank you just to get a "faction fit hulk" kill.

True,
But if you use the right mods, the ehp bonus can be well worth it.

I'm not talking about the a type small boosters that HULK pilots used to fit to tank null sec rats. but just the cheap resistance mods that can really boost ehp when you are short on CPU/PG.

I guess it is a trade off of more ehp but making a juicer target.

I got the chance to gank the same miner three time in the same day.. It was long time ago :)

Some of them are dumb, some are not. We use to do that while gate camping, after about 45 minutes of waiting for ships, we use to switch for trasher fleet and have fun in empire space :) Ganking hulk was more profitable than the normal gatecamping day except those rare freighter ganking day.

I'm with the op with that, ganking miner is fun and we got lot of laught depending of how we kill them or there fit :)

Really? what a world we live in huh.

I'm just saying it would probably work better if you used Ammarian religious fanatasism instead of middle east religious fanatasism in a spaceship game set in the future, but whaddo I know I just play the game for fun.

Insulting fake internet religion doesn't generate as much of a reaction as insulting a real religion does.

we're back here again, again...again.

confirming there are still untanked can mining hulks and covetors. only difference now is i can use my retriever to get close and steal entire cans of ore. beats sitting in a belt for hours any day.

no one suspects the retriever will be an ore thief. mwah ha ha ha!

hmm, too much sugar..

Oh, se hes actually trying to be insulting to provoke a reaction... on the internet... from someone he doesn't know and probably never will? What, on the off chance his target is middle eastern? Seems like a stretch. Kinda just makes him look like an unimaginative fool to me, but each to there own I suppose.

Well good luck to him and his "trying to be insulting" to a certain ethnic group, I'm sure he will look back on these days of his life with.. great pride... great pride indead :P

I really Really do not understand why even the max yield pilots are still running around with cargo rigs??

Many miners do not realize that a poorly fit exhumer is actually profitable to gank. two fit catalyst are cheap, and when they get concorded the gankers get loot and salvage from the catasysts and the mining ships. exhumers are T2 ships and can make for very valuable salvage. When you run the numbers two of even three cataylsts per exuhmer can be profitable if a decent salvage drops. It is very common for an exhumer to drop 100 mil worth of salvage. Plus several mil in modules. Even with the changes ganking can still be profitable if you do not tank.

The only mining ship that gets even minor benefit from more cargo is the hulk as it goes through more crystals, but it also needs a hauler or ORCA to actually put its slightly higher yield to good use. the hauler/ORCA can hold the extra crystals if needed.

Even if it is a legacy HULK that was fitted before the change. Pull the rigs and put new ones in.

If you want to sacrifice tank for yield you can fit a processor over clocking rig and power grid rig and fit a full rack of MLU still leaving enough CPU/PG for a decent tank.

A max yield HULK can still get well over 15,000 ehp if fit properly. Not gank proof but much better than it was. At least hard for a solo ganker to take down at a profit.

If you really want max tank a Skiff properly fit for max tank can get over 100,000 ehp. Try ganking that at a profit.

A mack can fit two MLU and a CPU II in the lows, processor overclocking, and ice mining rig in the rig slots, and still have a +20k ehp tank using shield hardeners and resistance amps. Much more if you use faction mods. Fit for full tank it can easily have over 40,000 ehp. That will not be profitable to gank.

Any ship no matter its ehp can be ganked by the right fleet. The idea is to make it so there is no chance of breaking even once they loot and salvage everything. Very few gankers can afford to throw away 50-60 mil every time the gank. But most can afford to keep ganking when dumb miners make it profitable. T2 strip miners are worth quite a bit but nothing compared to the T2 salvage that you will drop. Tank your ship or learn to enjoy being a victim of gankers.

Thi is the best response I've seen yet. Great explanation. I'm not a ganker but now I can see your point.

If you say so. :P

But you bring up yet another interesting point, did it work? I mean I'm assuming you think maybe he annoyed me or something, so let's assume thats true, does it make you feel better? Or him? I mean youd never REALLY now if you annoyed someone over the internet would you?

More importantly taking the above into account, does it matter? If you can't really tell wether you legitimately annoyed someone, then why bother doing it at all. Can't you just "pretend" whoever your taking to is annoyed and get the same "feeling"? Perhaps a few placebo posts are in order.

The mind boggles.

Honestly, I find it very puzzling but really interesting, I guess you might say I am a student of this behaviour, I haven't yet met anyone who could explain this behaviour to me, yet it's not uncommon. You gain nothing, yet pretend you do, all in an enviroment where nobody cares either way, is it just an excersize in futility or does it really make you feel better? And if it makes you feel better is there profit in it for someone to exploit?

theres money in it. and its funny to make ppl who take the game too seriously cry. just look at the german kid playing unreal tournament. thats what miners get like when they are ganked.

plus, this is a pvp game whether peeps like it or not. even miners and traders are in competition with eachother, and i screw my competitors over every chance i get. better get used to it.

Why would people hate miners and not the angry, no-life, butthurt babies who take their frustration out on random ppl to make them feel good about themselves?

I would think it would be more natural to hate those who are so happy about the fact that they got to annoy someone, or pity them at least.

Oh, this is rich. So very very rich. It's obvious I've ruffled your politically correct feathers, otherwise you wouldn't have even bothered to respond in reference to it.

Anyhoo, this thread's longevity is quite impressive indeed. Tonight I'd like to roll out an incentive to donors to our cause. If you donate 10mil or more, we will contract to you the corpse of a miner that we podded/saved from their menial life of mediocracy. To add further value, we'll also attach an Evemail with the in game kill record. This way you can be sure we did our utmost to make your donation matter.

I know it's through bumping instead of ganking, but the effects are pretty similar as mental patients tend to freak out when you disrupt their online therapy. If you would have gotten out of your asteroid belt a little more, you could've figured this one out yourself.
