You are not an avatar or a ship in eve, All I have in this world is my balls my name and my word and I don't break them for no one. Do you understand?

no seriously, you are what you do/done in eve, and that's why i hope wis is not only 07m8 /dance BlinkBlinkBlinkBlinkRollIdeaPSmileBig smile

Your "demands" are 1 out of n amount of players who all have their own demands with equal value to yours. What you consider a "freakshow" might be interesting and/or exciting gameplay to other people. Just saying it more loudly and stamping your feet doesn't mean you are more right than them.

25,000 net Cancelled Subs say that Incarna wasn't popular.

That's some loud foot stomping.

25,000 - do you have a link to where CCP says they lost 25,000 accounts?

Best data available.

the last thing we need is tools that let players start mod'ing this game until it's just completely out of hand. an example that comes to mind is the custom skins that seem to be coming our way. I'm all for custom skins on my ship, but with realistic EVE colors to choose from. I swear if i start seeing pink fuzzy or zebra striped ships flying around i'll dump my 5 accounts and never look back.

OK, this is pvp I can get behind. I'm going for pink fuzzy if possible, or zebra stripes if not..... :)

Just kidding.

You provide a quote directly from CCP about how many accounts they lost during the big Monoclegate Brewhaha...then lets talk.

So where is the direct quote from CCP that they lost 25,000 accounts? Still waiting.

(Oh, and despite your baiting, I never promised such a quote. A statement like that would be silly for CCP to make)

Well when you find a direct quote that says they lost X amount of player accounts because of Monoclegate...you let me know OK.

When you provide a convincing argument for another cause of a 50k drop in subscribers, between early summer and December of 2011, you let me know... OK?

Is anyone else as disappointed as I am about how the whole Incarna/WalkinginStations thing turned out?

I left the game for a while after Tyrannis was released and came back to Eve recently (a couple of weeks ago). I was looking forward to going for a stroll in a station or two, spamming /dance, playing some games, hitting up the bar staff, etc. Instead I find I'm stuck in a small room, forever alone.

A new player to the game would question: "Why such an involved 3D character creation process when there's nothing in-game to actually DO with said creation?" This was an issue before Incarna with the old character creation process too, going through it all just to snap a portrait.. Well, what we have now is just a 3D, movable portrait.

Anyway, I did some digging to find out why it ended up this way, and it turned out that a bunch of players had a hissy-fit when Incarna was released, which forced CCP to take a different direction, thus leaving the whole thing as an unfinished mess.

Actually, what happened is CCP spent an entire two expansions' time (one whole year of game production) on WiS and all they had to show for it was the captain's quarters. They had actually been working on this for several years prior, but they decided to make it the primary focus for a time.

Players reacted negatively when too much game production time was being effectively lost to a feature that just wasn't ready. In response to the outrage of the players, CCP decided it was time to once again balance and update the EVE universe. WiS isn't cancelled, it's just not at the forefront of production work. You'll get to see more of it eventually. Just consider the difference between Tyrannis/Incursion/Incarna and Crucible/Inferno:
Tyrannis:
  • Planetary Interaction
  • Incursion:
  • Incursions
  • 'Revenant' Faction Supercarrier
  • Noctis
  • V3 model for Maller cruiser
  • Incarna:
  • Minmatar Captain's Quarters
  • Crucible:
  • Amarr, Caldari, and Gallente Captain's Quarters
  • New Nebulas
  • Assault Ship Rebalancing
  • Time Dilation
  • the return of Ship Spinning
  • Tier 3 Battlecruisers
  • Hybrid Weapon Buff
  • New Tech II Modules
  • Player-Owned Customs Offices
  • Implants show on Killmails
  • Starbase Fuel Blocks
  • Various graphical, UI, artwork, and localization updates
  • Inferno:
  • V3 Ship Models - in progress
  • "No Ship Left Behind" Systematic Re-balancing and Overhaul of Existing Ships - in progress
  • Removal of "gunmining"
  • Unified Inventory
  • Ancillary Shield Booster and Reactive Armor Hardener
  • Target Spectrum Breaker
  • Factional Warfare updates
  • [*] Lots of UI updates

FT Diomedes: "Reaver, sometimes I wonder what you are thinking when you sit down to post."

Frostys Virpio: "We have to give it to him that he does put more effort than the vast majority in his idea but damn does it sometime come out of nowhere."

    Guess I was convincing Lol

But enough threads get off the rails with incarna that it's an understandable reaction when you see such a debate.

I unsubbed for a while around incarca because of the crap implementation, WiS is something I very much want to see. but the broom closet resource hog is not something that interests me, as well as the god awful ccp attitude around the time

In the spirit of idea generation, would anyone care to start a thread in Features & Ideas Discussion about the sorts of tools the community might like to see in order that they have more control over content? It's probably a little off topic here.

Nobody really wants to post in that forum, because it's the place where you post stuff you really want to be safely ignored forever.

Incarnagate happend ,but a lot still want ambulation.
Incarnagate was a stackup of a lot of problems not only WIS
For me personally the Nexfail and the leaked documents made me angry (didn,t shoot the statue)
CQ was a bit of a dissapointment ,but even it has 1 tiny room ,it is showing some promise
