People didn't quit because of CQ.

It's just a convenient excuse for the handful of people who don't want to see EVE evolve. There a LOT of people who rarely log in, or only log in long enough to update market orders and production stuff, and then log out because they have nothing else to do. WiS would expand the game.

One of its biggest hurdles to attracting new players is the fact that you're a spaceship. FiS is not the entirety of CCP's vision of EVE. Some of you need to suck it up and quit acting like a bunch of douchebag children who expects CCP to do only what they demand.

I wish CCP would just do the damn thing and let the people who don't like it ******* leave. WiS will bring in more people to EVE then they would lose.

evolve into a second life freakshow? i hope not

Please grow up.

I demand real content and gameplay, not frivolous freakshow junk.
You are not an avatar or a ship in eve, All I have in this world is my balls my name and my word and I don't break them for no one. Do you understand?

no seriously, you are what you do/done in eve, and that's why i hope wis is not only 07m8 /dance BlinkBlinkBlinkBlinkRollIdeaPSmileBig smile

Why do you assume that anyone only wants to walk around a station.

That doesn't represent "something to do".

No I don't understand what your balls have to do with anything in a game. Like I said, grow up.

It's too bad CCP caved to the crybabies of Jita. A large majority of eve players like the poster above are too dumb to realize that they don't have the imagination to think of what they're going to like in upcoming expansions. They can't see past their hulls and don't realize how much useful, fun and entirely parallel content could some from being able to walk around on foot.
How about having a war room where you can efficiently FC over large fleet battles on a map? How about being able to trade for valuable, illegal contraband in bulk amounts while concord's not looking? How about virtual eve poker, (not that normal eve poker is bad), for large amounts of isk?

My point is- do you tell authors how to write books? Vice versa: Does a good author let his fans dictate his stories?
The answer is a big NO.

Incarna will come out eventually which is great, but CCP should have put it out when they planned to. The people who were going to quit just because they didn't like an expansion should have been dropped anyway- I mean if they're going to discharge their bowels about Incarna now they'll do it in the future too. So at some point the good people at CCP need to do the right thing and just let the babies cry it out.

There seems to a lot more hate for the idea of avatar gameplay now than during Incarna.

Monoclegate wasn't about the concept. It was about delayed promises and scant information. WiS just kinda got caught in the middle.

I liked what Incarna demonstrated about EVE's potential, but go look at the official expansion features page. Then compare it to Crucible and Inferno.

You mean CCP let a handfull of loud mouth babies who were actually only mad because they couldn't get mommy to buy a monocle convince them to allow their game to stagnate and die?

When this game dies another will fill it's place, one with modern graphics, so I am not losing sleep over it.

This is the exact same mistake EA made with UO, they let their current customers talk them out of anything that was not "more of the same" till they had almost no new customers.

Then the current customers left.

Some people see their mastering of a system as an entitlement and guard it jealously. They see any change as a potential risk to their advantage and attack anything they see as a leveler. Its a selfish response with no regard for the general health of the game.

Im worried because EVE is starting to feel very old. For example, ships in Eve feel like representations of miniature toys, not representations of the real thing. We play the game as a child's hand, guiding our little toy ships to fight other little toy ships. The initial immersion i felt in 2003 is wearing off as new ideas from other games come to market.

Eve needs to keep up!

Your "demands" are 1 out of n amount of players who all have their own demands with equal value to yours. What you consider a "freakshow" might be interesting and/or exciting gameplay to other people. Just saying it more loudly and stamping your feet doesn't mean you are more right than them.

Lol

Boxy was my creation, hooray for programmer art. He got replaced with the chap from the 2012 trailer so sadly is no more.

Thanks for naming him though!

I'm extremely pleased to see that you make a point of saying "I'd sincerely like to get any in-development work into the hands of the players early though and that must be part of any pre-production and production plans we make". Can I also make a plea that you deeply consider the possibility of emphasizing the provision of tools over content. Almost everything that's exceptional about EVE can be described as "CCP provided us tools to interact with each other in a new way". Almost everything that's gone wrong with EVE can be described as "CCP provided content to consume".

This is absolutely how we are looking at things, provide the systems and the environments for the players to do stuff, sit back and wait for them to do something completely unexpected and cool. We're definitely not considering an "on-rails" type mission experience.

After reading the FW shenanigans (well some of it) and having a some what sour after taste. This has really perked me up.

Though these are my own hopes WiS for me would be turning up to a mag site noticing a another ship docked and then deciding to dock up myself or ambush them on the way out.

Just imagine that you and a friend are exploring a complex and you hear the distant clunk on the super structure of another ship docking? Or several Clunks? Do you setup an ambush or head back to your ship? Can you hack the self destruct? Are there structure defences that can be bought online? Can you make it to communications so you can ask for In space help on your corp chat?

Of course I mustn't let my imagination get the better of me, still again nice to see ccp exploring other avenues or at least revisiting them.

Yeah, we have a sandbox but no tools to play with the sand. I have the feeling that the devs are waisting precious time doing worthless thing instead of let the community to build the game they want.

The community can do amazing stuff if they are provided with tools, much better than any developer. See as an example any game that let the community to mod and build the game. Minecraft, TES or maybe a better example in ArmA where the devs spent years by building the perfect army simulator until a lonely dude extracted the whole content, put some zombies in and a knife in the player hand and so made one the most popular mod ever. It's amazing to see how many bought an old and outdated game only because this mod whilst the developers did nothing to improve the cash flow.

WiS should be a priority as role playing a ship in space and right click on everything is getting very outdated. And then give us some proper tools to play with the sand. Let us customize our ship, weapons, station and the world around us. Even let us to build our custom ships so if I'm a pirate or a wealthy industrialist I don't have to fly the same ship as many thousands do.

I have this imagine in my head since I saw the trailer at evefest when those dudes docked at an abandoned outpost and discovered whatever was in. Was the time when I decided to try play EVE hoping that someday that trailer will become the actual gameplay.

The guys behind DayZ actually work for Bohemia Interactive though although they did do the mod in their own time.

In the spirit of idea generation, would anyone care to start a thread in Features & Ideas Discussion about the sorts of tools the community might like to see in order that they have more control over content? It's probably a little off topic here.

I've mentioned before in other posts the parallel development which is going on for WoD and how CCP could test the WoD clothing etc. in EvE by making some of the (non-canon breaking) avatar items items available for testing and feedback on Sisi... Potentially they could be migrated across into EvE if enough players want them.

Taking this further,

WoD is going to undoubtedly be based around small to medium environment areas (Maps) with social interraction, gambling, music, dancing and all sorts of interractive areas for players to congregate.

If "Team Avatar" are working on something, Are they working alongside their counterparts in WoD development ("Team Angst"? :) ), using technology developed on oneside to create something for the other?

With a few developers working on it, surely it would be relatively simple to re-skin and re-populate with compatable items a few of the WoD enclosed environments to EvE style?

Then it would be a case of making those environments available for testing on Sisi so players can provide feedback, or to develop them further into active environments where multiplayer activities are possible.

After all, why re-invent the wheel when we can simply paint it a different colour?
