Agreed. While disgusting, that oversteps the bounds of governmental authority.

You 2 guys have missed the point entirely.

In fact I would go so far to say its because idiots like yourself, the kind moronic ass-holes that we need these laws.

The laws basically says there is no difference between if you walk up to somebody on the street and scream vile racist crap at them and if you do it on the internet.

Its to stop morons like yourself hiding behind a keyboard because you are even a bigger coward to say it to somebodies face.

Saying those things is not illegal. There are clear criteria that must be met in order to qualify as hate speech; that is why the K-K-K, for instance, can still hold rallies despite being an outright horrible organization for horrible people. I think you need to take a step back from your emotions. After all, where do we draw the line? You just called me a moronic ******* over the internet.

Maybe the answer is to disband the CSM, at least that way we should not end up with this shame again.

That is just about the worst idea I've heard in a long time. I do hope you're not being serious.
You could say that I'm starting to lean towards it.

On the one-hand the CSM represents the player base but in reality they don't truly represent the player base as you can see by those not voting. Plus the election method is crap it should be 1 person 1 vote otherwise it's as about money.

On the other hand the CSM could be in a good position to get things done if the right people are elected and that's become a big IF.
The CSM was put in place for a reason, and has done an excellent job of voicing player concerns, so far. They were integral in the company wide shift of focus and reorganization of CCP, and have played a major role in the upcoming Inferno expansion, which so far looks quite promising.

I have to question the sincerity of this apology after reading your earlier posts about the incident. ~100058~. You said on twiter you were resigning, was that a troll? I highly doubt you would care one iota if not for the public outcry. You have brought shame and dishonor to CCP, CSm abd the entire Eve community. Do the right thing and step down from CSM.

You are the most hypocritcal person on the CSM. Bravo. Go break the NDA over this.

Anyway, so far my prediction is true... apology, but not stepping down. Well - done.

I agree completely. There is a level of respect you have for those who serve beside you, both in business as well as war. The votes he received were as real as the ones you (Darius) did. To come on here and publicly say that, regardless as to what you actually think is immature and blatantly uncalled for. If you have a problem talk to him personally, this is just childish.

If you think calling somebody a moronic ass-hole is the same as some racist vile crap then you have just proved you are in-deed a ass-hole.

Also as far as I am aware in the USA if its a direct attack against an individual, whether verbal or nonverbal, it can be construed as a hate crime and in which case you can be arrested.

I know, I played an active part on the forums during the riots, although never took it in-game as prefered not to disrupt those not protesting. The changes you mention however took place whilst I was out of game on the second phase of that protest.

I didn't say it was the same. In fact, I specifically said it was different. The question here is a slippery slope argument dealing with how far into one's life the government can interject itself. It IS a free speech issue, if indirectly.

As for hate speech, a key requirement is that there is the reasonable belief of action. The K-K-K routinely calls for violence, but they are almost never taken seriously because their calls for race-based revolution have no actual physical backing in reality. Saying vile things only crosses the bounds into hate speech when there is a continued, reasonable expectation of harm as a result.

Just do me a favor and don't jump to the conclusion that I am supporting racism, which you seem to have been doing thus far. Again, step back from your emotions and look at the broader picture. Government is not supposed to enforce goodness on its people. An ass-hole is, technically speaking, free to be an ass-hole by the law.

No not becouse of what everyone tells me what I should think.
I work when I have work come in.. I have been on the road more thien anything and trying to answer peoples question.
Today I have no work orders so more time. But still have real life things to do around the house.
And to let everyone know I do not bot. If I see a botter I will let gankers know about it.
I do multibox and love to see how far I can push it.. AT this time I am limited buy the hardware I have. One day I will see if I can go further.

Thanks all for the support and the kind words.

Dear "The Wis"

Your attempts to use your real life problems to guilt trip people who ganked you into reimbrusing you are reprehensible and completely indefensible. We are not your friends, your family or you support group. We do not care about your issues. Your eve-mail was a transparent and despicable attempt at emotional manipulation and you should be openly ridiculed for it.

Your personal problems have no business in my spaceship game. Deal with it ~

Hate crime can only be applied if there is an actual crime. Rambling hateful speech that does not call for action isn't a crime, no matter how distasteful.

in fact, legally (in the US) there is no difference between calling someone a moron and calling them [insert slew of racial terms].

I know for a fact that it is not illegal in the US. You cannot continuously harass someone because that is considered bullying/abuse, and you cannot threaten them, but you can say whatever you like. For example, the Supreme Court ruled towards the end of last year that the protests of soldiers' funerals by the Westboro Baptist Church was constitutionally protected. They can legally tell people their sons and daughters are going to burn in hell for serving their country. Also, if what you said was true, then the Neo Nazis, Black Panthers, ***, and other racist groups would not be allowed to exist, but the reality is they are. As long as no act of violence is committed it is merely an extension of your 1st Amendment right's, however repulsive that might seem.

I hate Goons, I dont even know why.. it was injected into my noob blood years ago.. But I do not condone this apology , why must you fall to these guys and apologize? You really did nothing wrong and should not be punished unless all who stood witness and participated are ready to be judged and set to hang also. They are trying to get at you the way you get at them, right to the bone. I have watched every minute of the fanfest panel and sure, you said some harsh things.. but guess what.. eve is a harsh universe full of harsh people.. sure you may have not been in game at that moment but were you not at an EVE event being fed alcahol and brewed up to be an asshat for the fans? I Just came back to the game, so maybe things have changed ever since the barby land patch and people now wearing tight panties.. but i truly find nothing wrong with what you said and did or any of the other members of csm who also showed thier ass that night
