It was a private message. You know, private.
But what mittens said:

Quote:
Incidentally, if you want to make the guy kill himself, his name is The Wiz. Its “T-H-E SPACE W-I-S”. He has his own corp. Find him.

(bolds no in original)

That is similar to telling people "go make this guy kill himself". In his position (as goons CEO and on CSM) can be considered as if he actually pulled the trigger himself if by any bad chance the guy would have actually kill himself.

Absoloutly irrelevant the whole presentation shows that he did the same thing months ago when the incident happened.

The crime was alrerady commited , encouraging it to happen again was just the icing on the cake

There are plenty of people in goonswarm and the cfc who are upset with what happened. The main difference is that we know the person behind the mistake. We know the character behind the persona that the rest of eve see's.

It's not some tin foil hat conspiracy.. We have no reason to want him off the CSM, and therefore no reason to close our minds and hearts to his sincere apology.

This is why I believe it's jealously and people butt hurt that Mittani has so much support behind him, the election showed that. Like you said, we are not defending what he said, we are defending who the man is.

I don't even know him on a personal level, yet I know that he's a good dude for flying in the same fleets as him during the Fountain campaign, and that was all it took for me to know he's not a vile person. I've been around some pretty vile people in my time, and heard worse things than what Mittens said.

Some of you people need to go outside for awhile because you are heart attacking over an issue that really is put to bed. Words were said in a drunken stupor, words were said in apology. What's even funnier, is that the guy in question (The Wise) didn't even know what was going on, then when he found out, was like "So what?" he didn't even are for Christ sake!

This ******** protest is spurned on by morons, and brainless idiots who have no idea what is what in the world, and take Internet Spaceships far too seriously.

Consider if The Wis said he was going to "quit the game" over the griefing. And Mittani said "If you want to make him quit the game!"

People often overstate/exaggerate and use extreme hyperbole in their online statements.

How many times have you seen someone say "oh **** me" or "kill me now". Did they really mean it? Probably not.

Good for Mittani to make this post , i just wonder if he really means that or it is just an act.
You now there is a saying drunk person will always tell you the truth.

Although goon privates are the most pathetic.
Mittani did what he did goon applause how good Mittani is and he has nothing to appoligize for.
Mittani understood his mistake - goon still applause how good Mittani is.

I've been drunk plenty of times. Not once have I turned around to anybody and told them that if their issues are that bad they should kill themselves.

Just sayin'.

The Gaming MoD - retro to modern, console to MMO, I blog about it if it's a game and I'm interested in it. Yes, I play games other than Eve and I don't care if you think I'm wrong.

Question then for the goon organization then on the situation, seriously please. I myself feel the appology was well written. If not for the fact that real name was given. Majority of the people in this thread did not know that. His wife in other forums has expressed displeasure about it. Those are signs that it is serious and sentimental.

The question is about punishment. Understandably he is supported, I am sure it takes alot to keep the goons together. Honestly, I have no idea how from the outside view I get you guys keep it together. Something on the internal has to be doing it. But should there be, and would you guys agree with a reasonable punishment handed out. As a supporter, what do you feel if reasonable if yes. If no punishment, why not? Would no punishment be showing favoritizm or was there no violation of the rules?

So does Mittens, thus the apology. I believe it was heartfelt and I'm pretty damn sure we won't be seeing him do this again. That aside he's done a good job as CSM and I see no reason why he can't continue in this role. Also those of you saying he should step down as chair are kinda dumbos. The role is a made up role that has no power at all. Might as well say he needs to step down as princess cloudbloom of the fairy kingdom. It hasn't actually meant anything since we stopped doing formal meetings with people voting on things.

So one cancels the other out ehh?

Who's saying anything about cancelling out?

I don't know if you're aware but you're posting in the official "Whoops I ****** up, here's my apology" thread. Perhaps you missed the OP? Or maybe you read it and you still want to desperately flail around trying to use this as the issue that finally brings him down? Sorry kiddo.

I know exactly what thread this is. You say you were going over the slide show presentation to you and it never occurred to either of you to maybe change it? I am all for in game villainy and corruption and whatever else evil lurks around, but it's just a game. He stepped out of the game realm and encouraged actions that do not stop at the game. His goal was to have someone commit suicide in real life. You can't just "Whoops, my bad." it and walk away like it is no big deal.

Everything thing associated with The Mittani, Alex, CCP, EVE, CSM and the players in general now have the take line Suicide and Cyber Bullying on almost all Google searches of any of those words. He painted himself into a corner and pushed the envelope too far. And you gave him the stamp of approval by reviewing his alliance panel slide show and not telling him to change it.

But hey, you keep telling yourself that all of these threads, all of the news articles, all of it is because some super capital pilots are upset about a nerf coming.

No, he thought it would be funny to tell everyone in the internet videogame called Eve: Online.
Then some self-serving carebears decided to take that and post it to every game news website and force CCP into making public statements and acting all political.

If -any- of these people cared about The Wis they'd have left him alone. Instead, you took an insult that he didn't even know about, and used it to make him upset to prove your point that it was a 'mean' thing to say.

Yes it was a little mean if taken literally, but its also mean to go dragging that guy's personal life up in front of the cameras as your martyr.

And yet, none of that ever happened. You're basing all of this on worst case speculation. Naturally, you're quick to gloss over the chatlogs where the "victim" in question simply doesn't give a flying ****.

The miner sends him a tearfilled mail about how terrible his life is and how he thinks that mining is keeping him from suicide. Mittens points out how silly this is. Mittens makes an add-on comment possibly encouraging others to harass him about this silly mail he sent (similar to the other silly mails which have already been passed around and laughed at by other Goons.) The outcry brings to Mittens's attention that the comments he made may have had unintended effects (which they didn't) and also some bad press for the game he's been working to make better and issues an apology and restitution to a guy that didn't even know that he was ever even mentioned. This is apparently not enough but only to people with an axe to grind for entirely unrelated reasons.

I think that goes for the people here who think this is an issue and cause for him to resign. Condemning someone for something they themselves do all the time while sober is pretty hypocritical.
