LEGO Rifter
LEGO Merlin

THE LEGO RIFTER HAS MADE 10K VOTES!!!! (scroll down to the bottom to see new questions and answers)

Thanks for all the messages of support. Special thanks to Hilmar for tweeting it and CCP for adding it to the login screen. And yes, I'm the creator of the LEGO Rifter on cuusoo.

I'd love to entertain some questions but here are a couple answers first of all

* Why is the Rifter white instead of rust colored?
- Rust is a hard color to achieve in LEGO (they have orange, dark red, red, brown). Since I built this out of my own personal LEGO collection, I was limited by the number of colors and pieces I actually had. Since this is a prototype build, if it gets produced by LEGO, the colors can certainly be corrected at production

* Why did you make the Rifter?
- I LOVE the ship designs of EVE Online. I'm not prejudiced for or against any faction ship. I had to create a ship that was iconic to the EVE universe, buildable in LEGO form, and pretty to look at from a non-EVE player perspective. I also wanted to create a ship that was minifig scale (IE - you can put a LEGO man in the cockpit). The Rifter matches those criteria

* The Rifter needs weapons!
- Haha, yes it does. I'll leave that to the loving fanbase. Or maybe we can create hardpoints on the final product with swappable weapons.

* Will you build **insert my favorite ship/faction** ?
- YES. But the list of ships is enormous and everyone has a favorite. I honestly do not know what will happen when we reach 10,000 supporters. This could be a one shot model, or we could create a line of LEGO ships. So, at the very least, we can hope to get one LEGO product. The next hope would be to get one ship from each major faction. The really lofty goal would be to get multiple ships from each faction. But which ships? I think CCP and I see eye-to-eye when I say that YOU should decide. At some point, we'll need to run a poll to see what ships are created. I have my personal preferences along with ideas of which ships simply could not be made in LEGO form

* The Rifter is 53m long; the Maelstrom is 1481m long - how can you build larger ships to scale with the Rifter?
- The answer is simple - I can't. The reason I chose the Rifter is that I could create it minifig scale. To create larger ships, I will have to make them smaller and out of scale of the Rifter. This is known as midi or mini scale. This is certainly doable.

*Now that the Rifter has reached 10K votes, when can I buy one!!??
- Now the project goes into review in June. LEGO decides if this alliance between LEGO and EVE matches their company profile. They also start building their own models based off of the concept. If the concept passes review, and everyone is happy with the terms of sale (CCP and LEGO), and everyone is happy with the official model the LEGO team comes up with, then it goes into preproduction. This is a long phase that takes months of preparing box art, instructions, marketing, and getting all those pieces together in those little baggies. I fully expect it to take about 6 months *IF* it passes review. Why do I say IF? Because the Shaun of the Dead model did not pass review because of its adult content. While anyone could argue that the actual content of EVE online is milder then say Star Wars or Indiana Jones or Pirates of the Caribbean, it is still up in the air.

I saw this model at fanfest, it looks really good. It looks small on the pictures but its actually well proportioned. Keep up the good work.

If you haven't voted for this yet, please take the time to do it :)

I support this, and seeing this make a pilgrimage to EVE Fanfest 2012 was amazing. We have had 97,815 views on the cuusoo page, surely we can get to 10,000 supporters!

I laugh at the 97K views. I think 5K views are mine as I check it regularly and try to respond to comments posted on cuusoo. Those are definitely not 97K *unique* views. My real concern is that we've had 20K to 50K people online playing EVE at a time since CCP was awesome enough to post the login splash screen up which means that between 5 and 10% of people logging in to play are supporting it. Then again, you have to create an account on cuusoo to support it so I understand people's unwillingness. And not everyone is a LEGO fan. But its a huge opportunity for EVE to reach new people. Do it for CCP! Do it for EVE!

Bumping this. I've already supported it, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are quite a few players who haven't seen it yet even with the login ad for it.

This is the first time we could possibly get one built at the lego factory in minmatar colors and boxed with art for eve players.

Tobiaz, this is is very different. CCP is supporting this as an opportunity to create official LEGO sets. This isn't some fan LEGO creation thread.
