And in this picture, we have the original Idris corvette at 140 meters in length:

And now the steroid, protein shake, growth hormone jacked frigate version....P

It's hard to do a direct compare because the view angles are different, but if you notice the missile launcher just behind the main bow turret on the corvette version, and that the frigate still has that same launcher at the same size, so it gives a better idea of just how much size it's gained overall.

It's not just 100 meters longer, but also much wider and the engines are also quite a bit bigger too.

Ok, i'll bite..

Digital, you keep mentioning size of the ship with great enthusiasum, so my question is why?

Is there some advantage to OMG MY SHIP IS 100M LONG! or whatever

Given the extra size and that the entire interior can be walked within it, be it the command section, living quarters, cantina, engineering, weapon stations, med bay, brig, pilot briefing room and more, it really makes for the believable living and working space from which the pilot will do what needs to be done in the single player campaign, the public universe and a goal to aim for to get one for themselves.

Now we have the latest information that even the amount of ships it can deploy may vary with the ship being used, and as you see in the picture, it has maintained the landing gear and thru the use of autopilot, and completely in game( not a cut scene), we can experience the landing sequence starting from orbit, going thru the atmosphere and finally landing on an external landing pad.

Let's face it, immersion wise, it makes eve look like a joke.

Speaking of immersion how is character creation or no details on that yet?

I'd love to be able to recreate Kate as close as possible.

There will be plenty of choices for clothing, or playing as a man or woman, but not sure for things like facial features or tattoos, scars, piercings since one of the options is to start for the UEE military and i'm thinking they have a pretty strict dress code.

Once service is done and you're back to being a civilian and operating your own ship and business, i'd assume you'd be able to customize your look as you see fit.

That's a hot topic for me too, but there are no details at all. So far it looks like a boy's game and so it's all about Ships That Go! and no room for girlie stuff like bein' or feelin' or actin' pretty. It's a Chris Roberts game, after all... women in his older games were closer to 'Starbuck' than to Deanna Troi or Nyota Uhura, to say so.

Can make ya feelin' right here.......... ;)

That dress.... the pic .....
I got to look at this closer. ^_^

Um no, the game is neither of those since it's not out yet. No-one has ever attempted doing so because t's a massive scope for one project - and without a publisher to yank on the chain every now and then, there's a high chance of the ambitious project exploding into a hilarious ball of drama.

This. and ppl seem to forget that Roberts promised alot of things for freelancer (and alot of them were features never done before in a game at that time) and although the game was good it was only parts of what it should have been.

Look up some old interviews with him about freelancer features and compare it to the released game, aaaaaand then take a close look at all the promised features for Star Citizen, subtract roughly 30%-40% (that parts that sound to good to be true/never have done before combinations) and you get a pretty good idea what you gonna get in the final release.

Been avoiding this thread, because reasons.

Watched the CitizenCon live stream last night, and have been drooling over the space ship pron that is in my hangar.

See planet side demo? Shots of character creation? Video on progression over the last year plus?

Not vapourware. Transparent development process. More functionality in ONE ship than an entire Eve fleet.
Will not run on a potato like Eve.

Eve will have it's place for a long time to come, because it's Eve.
Eve will always be a niche game that will always hit a wall of paying customers, because it's Eve.

But SC already has gotten more money from me than Eve has gotten since my first day.
This is true for a lot of people. There is a reason for that.

And whats the reason? LTI pay to win? Lol.... Star Citizen with all it's space ships put together will never ever have the fleet functionality or tactical functionality of eve.
Which I guess is nice for risk averse casual gamers. Roll

LOL....

Twitch feed incoming, and look from the 1H58 min mark, and keep in mind it's just a first pass with a lot of polish still left to do

Eve just got blown the heck away...Dynamic planetary landing with scenes that will ultimately have up to 30 million polygons.

So I watched it (for the sake of science), it showed nothing of fleet functionality or tactical functionality, in fact it didn't show anything at all as per usual.
Just a guy getting up out of his seat and walking round then some weird 3rd person view of landing.... so I guess you don't even control the landing.

If this makes you feel better about investing loads of cash into a game for life time insurance so you can pay to win then good for you.

Yeah, I thought the planetary landings were gonna be fully controlled by the player. I guess its just gonna be a cutscene by what was shown in that video then you get to land your spacecraft after the space to planet cutscene.

Nobody has ever done an actual transition from space to a landing pad, going thru customs, and seeing the overall environment of the city, in real time and with no loading pauses or using at most using pre rendered sequences, not in real time.

But since it's all about combat for you...This one is particularly funny:

It's not a cut scene, you can move anywhere about the ship while the autopilot takes it down, and it's only doing that because most pilots wouldn't have the skill to navigate to the landing pad and make a nice smooth landing themselves.

Esqueez me?
What you have showed me in the twitch stream is basically what you could do in 1993 on Elite 2 but with better graphics and walking on the ship.
It is literally nothing groundbreaking.

The combat link.... is nothing again, nothing, a trailer, just more pretty rendering and no gameplay, this is what they are spending your money on, not developing the game but using it to fund fancy adds to pull in more suckers.

More like immensely better graphics on a scale never attempted before on any game......Some scenes will have up to 30 million polygons displayed in real time and adds to the overall believability and immersion of the game big time.

Ask yourself about something so inconsequential when in eve and just simply seeing your ship passing thru another ship's hull since it's physics are a joke, no six degree of freedom control, and there's no damage modelling until you reach hull and see some fire~ smoke coming out of the target.

The biggest step that SC is doing is making every act more realistic than it's every been done in real time, not re inventing the wheel in terms of gameplay.....You seem to give me the impression that if you shoot ****, it's all the same.

Some are just like that...So protective of the game they've been playing that when one comes up that beats it in several aspects in a big way, they'll still be in denial to hell and back.

Heck I've been getting flack for it for the last 2 years when some posters here said it's a Chris Roberts Game, it'll never get done, it's a financial ripoff towards early backers, and now they're seeing enough to realize they were epically wrong on all counts, and this is what EVE has to deal with, which unless you're blind, SC already beats it by a mile visually and physics wise.
