Non-unique character names.

EVE Online already has a unique character reference, so a character's name does not really have to be unique.

Having non-unique names would improve immersion and allow players to adopt the name that they really want rather than a bastardisation of it because it's already taken. It would also mean that a player's avatar would become more important for identification because if you have a dozen John Smiths in station, you would need to know what the character that you want to speak to looks like.

Probably not a 'small' one as I'm sure that the name has been used internally for some things, so there'll be some reworking of other areas needed to support this, but I'm sure you guys are more than capable of doing this :)

I would like to have a main cargo and a secondary one, so that I can organize what I store in my ship. primarily I would like to have my ammo, scripts and "in flight usefull" items stored sepperately from loot and transport goods.

-i suggest this be added as an option so that the user can create one to two additional cargo holds for their ship.

This, but rather than a second hold... It hsould be a a compartment within the current hold. A simple interface with sliders to determine the size of each (upt o 10 compartments) would be easy to add in my opinion.

Dear CCP Soundwave,

My second post here and I hope it's not too late. Something I forgot about earlier but I think would make many people happy (assuming I am not simply wrong about the mechanic):

  • Please, please, please introduce a Notification for when a Corporation applies to join an Alliance.

Just as when individuals apply to Corps, when a Corp applies to an Alliance, delays in processing such applications have the potential to cause disappointment and misunderstanding.

CEOs are familiar with Notifications for applications to their Corps so some would probably think there would be one generated when they apply to an Alliance. It would be excellent if Executor Corp CEOs did indeed get such a Notification.

Regards,
Sparks

More quick additions :

- Better visibility for turrets/missiles critical details (range, dmg etc) with various ammo types. Quick mouse-over would be nice. The current method of right-click show info on weapons in clunky and unwieldy. The same can also be said for several mid slot mods.

- Ability to freely link (NOT group) several different mods for single button/click activation/deactivation. Example, linking all shield hardeners and dmg control together.

- Different alarm sounds for shields, armor and hull. Better yet, provide several samples and let the players mix and match to their taste. Full customization (via player custom sound files) is ideal, though that unecessarily complicates a minor irk.

- Different colored bars for shields/armor if feasible. The better distinction helps logis.

- Low capacitor alarm warning.

- Persistent UNIQUE bracket for your OWN ship. No, the bloody Alt key won't do it - it's a partial solution. I want to be able to know where exactly is my ship in a zoomed out mess at all times. There are too many times I've been asking myself, "where the **** is my ship?", pressed and hold Alt - ah there it is! ..... wait ... why the **** should I even do this?

Provide "orientation" data on ships along with other details when they arrive on grid. So we don't get ships arriving from warp sideways.

Oh, but sideways orcas are hilarious!

Content: Maybe add a trade log. There have been many times where I trade some stuff to get melted to someone and they have no idea what I gave them, but it was way too much stuff to bother writing it all down, so they just kind of guessed how much to give back.

It could be a new tab under the log, wallet or journal.

Not sure if this was covered already, but:

Quote from "Team Papercuts" forum:

Awesome job team papercuts!

One small question: will there be any Hot-key and/or Context menu (on the can) for the "LOOT ALL: button?

This is much nicer than "Select all and drag" method, but opening two dozen cans can slow down the client and therefore makes it harder to remain productive.

Keep up the good work!

Would it be possible to add context menu and a shortcut for looting the can.
If you are within 2,500m from the can, select it and press the shortcut, it would loot the contents.

I suppose this is a little thing in context of the whole game, but station interiors, especially hangers, could do with some more life.

I miss the old Gallente Pleasure Hub interiors, at least they seemed to be a hive of activity rather than the lifeless bays we have now.

Sequential fleet tagging by the use of keyboard + mouse in the same fashion as warp to, dock, orbit, etc. commands.

Example:

1) hold shift+alt and click something: it gets tag 0.
2) hold shift+ctrl and click something else: it gets tag A.
3) hold shift+ctrl and click something else: it gets tag B.
4) hold shift+alt and click the first thing: it now gets tag 1 instead of tag 0.

Tagging is currently cumbersome and involved with intricate mouse navigation required for the different drop down menus.

Something that sounds like a more complicated fix as well as less useful comes from Here by NiGhTTraX to instead incorporate a popup box enabling any character to be entered. Honestly, either of the suggestions would go a long way towards speeding up the tagging process (thereby allowing the FC to join in combat quicker) however, the sequential KB+mouse is easiest from a player's perspective.

Edit: The features and fixes listed in the winter expansion are a real step forward and represent a significant and positive change towards how I feel you at CCP are reacting to player comments and suggestions. Keep it up, you guys are making a great game even better!

+1 this would be very handy. my only concern with it is that this "quick loot" button should not be available if the can is not white or blue. make theives go through the trouble of stealing the old fashio way. this would also ballance out the troube of having to race against a pirate to loot your wrecks before they do (cant wait to see what flack i get from pirates for saying this)..

The ability to actually sort your collection of in game notes. Yes, you can create folders for the, but you still have to search the folder for that specific note you wanted. Sorting by name or date would be a great start to this.

Only people with the ability to refuel POS' should receive notifications that the damn things are low on fuel.

Spamming an entire corporation with notifications on the hour every hour, when the majority of people in the corp do not have the ability to refuel the POS is not only unnecessary its incredibly annoying.

What if the fuel guy is not there for a few days and the rest wont know until it shuts down? Not very nice then either.
I would send out notes as is t ofuelers and every 3-6-12 hours to the rest. This still raises awareness yet isn't spammy.

Don't know if this has been mentioned and this thread is too damn big to check so...

Please let us put packaged ships in out ship maintenance bays. Deployments would be so much easier and I want to spend my time fighting not moving ships.

Dropping a ship onto another ship with one of those bays should put it in there, not pop up and tell me it doesn't fit in the cargo bay!

thanks,

/me chips in his own idea.

Is it possible to make a filter on the overview based on which the overview is dynamically filterd. Basically a textbox sitting at the top and when you starttyping in there it will automagically filter overview based on what you typed:
Type 'Bo' => shows all objects/ people whose name contains 'Bo'
Type 'Bob' => shows all object / people whose name contains 'Bob'

As 1.1 version of this idea - make it possible to chose between filtering on name and type - so you could enable filtering on type and type 'Battle' => result overview shows battleships and battlecruisers.

This might help a lot in large fleet fights

Prison For Banned Characters

Having just listened to the Voices From The Void podcast where Seismic Stan mentioned the 'Free Durrhurrdurr' campaign, the idea struck me that instead of simply banning an account and the user not even being able to sign on, CCP could move the characters on a banned account to a prison cell.

The prison cell would be a form of captains quarters without access to balcony, has no chat (maybe still list 'guests'?) and no Evemail (except perhaps the ability to email GMs/CCP) and no way out.

Players would still be able to log on and see their assets (although do nothing with them) and read evemails (but not respond).

A player's 'employment history' could be updated with 'xyzzy IV penal colony' with the reason for their incarceration listed in brackets, and would help recruiters identify players who have been a bit 'naughty' in the past. For some players this would, I am sure, end up becoming a badge of honour! (e.g. Excessive griefing).

CCP would continue to take players subscriptions, leaving it up to the player to unsub when they are fed up enough, or to stay subbed until either their 'time' is served (e.g. 3-day, 7-day, 30-day bans) or GMs determine that they are innocent of their infraction and they are granted their freedom.

One instance where this would help both CCP and players is when a suspected account hacking has taken place: the account is safe from further harm (nothing can be done by the player with any assets) and gives the player a means to log in and keep updated on the progress of the restoration of their account.
