I am shocked this is still going on.

Competition is good. We will have Eve, Star Citizen and Elite: Dangerous. There's room for all of them I think.

I agree. One thing to note is competition brings the best out of everything. Like if EVE is to remain as really one of the only less than a handful of space game. Then why should CCP really try to improve what they already have. (Which means things gets boring, and people leave like some are)
So I will go as far as competition is a win win. CCP wins because it brings more people to EVE (giving CCP takes it seriously (without doing the lawsuit thing like Apple)). The players will win because CCP is forced to 1 up everything they have to 1 up the competition. (Also, it brings choice to the players. Right now you're pretty much SOL when it comes to finding another space MMO/game)

So I don't see why some SC fans hate EVE, and EVE fans hate SC.

Everyone said SW: TOR has potential, given that it was made by the (former) kings of RPG, Bioware. That went well.

If Chris will try to make a variant of EVE, he will fail hard. If he'll try to make a space simulator similar to Freelancer, he might succeed - but he won't be endangering EVE with it, as the only thing the games will have in common is space ships. That's all there is to it really.

Lol. Eve is a PvP game, Eve is PvP centric. Stated a billion zillion times on the forums. PvP in Freelancer is WAY better than EvE.

Stealing enough subs to kill Eve? Probably not. Stealing enough subs to bring the PCU down to a dangerous level, yes.

Good job that nobody at CCP is doing that then, isn't it.

From what i read in this very thread i got the impression some CCP employees were dissmissing SC as a hyped game in which you pay $1300 for a ship. Thats all. I hope CCP are taking note and make EVE even better. Meh wish i hadn't posted in this thread.

You do realise that CSM members are not CCP employees, right?

Its likely not to have all of that, so I really don't care.

If it somehow kills Eve (which I seriously doubt), then I'll find something other than video games to fill my time. Maybe do more fishing.

I think if Eve crashes and burns, it'll be more likely due to something like microtransactions.

Eve unquestionably has the longest level grind of any game ever.

SWTOR is. MMOdata.net.

IMHO the game sucks bad, and isn't hurting eve (much), but still the biggest space game by several magnitudes.

I used to think the worries about Star Citizen were unfounded... but I have been following their progress, and I have to say it does looks pretty damn incredible. I'm not too worried, because games don't really kill each other. I think that's a bit of a myth. Unless they're released at the same time I don't think I have ever heard of one games' success being the cause of another's fall.

Having said all the above, I will be playing Star Citizen. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

Do any of my posts even mention the CSM? No.

I wasn't trying to get everyone on my case, i maybe misread something thinking CCP'ees had made tweets or posts saying its hype, if they didn't well i apologise but still think that this needs to be looked at more than some people think.

It might not have everything EVE offers, but, it might have a lot of things EVE doesnt offer to balance it out.

Although if pvp can be opted out of on a slider scale, well, hmmm. Start to wonder what all these people jumping on the bandwagon are gonna do when they find that everyone turns the slider off when they have no friends about lol

If I am able to get my computer upgraded a little (to deal with SC and recording). I will be doing a video comparing SC and EVE. I think I will do a side by side thing. I'm not a 100% sure.

Allow me to clarify my own position then; I don't hate Star Citizen, I could frankly not care less about the project. That said, I am sceptical of Mr. Roberts ability to actually deliver on any of his words because it is an extremely ambitious project and with the amount batsh*t frothing crazy going around it considered, I think it is a good thing to be f*cking sceptical.

It does have a harsh sandbox. You can lose ships. You can lose resources. You can even lose your life. SC has perma death.

Why, of course, you're representatives of some players.

Yet it's funny you now are talking about other games than EVE, isn't it?

"SC is full of promises, but those are only promises" =/= "SC in 2014? Just wait for winter 2013 in EVE, you'll be blasted!"

@Anna you are a 100% right.

Most people don't know or forget this. ANYONE that works in a volunteer or paid spot is a rep of whatever group they are helping out/getting paid. ANYONE with a special title also represents something.

This means if that person publicly said something good or bad about something. Then they are representing a company saying good or bad things. It happens all the time where low end people lose their jobs because they said something bad about something they thought is random. In return, the company fired them because they were poorly rep the company/group.

So CSM is a rep of something. The best thing a CSM member can do is give a purely non bias opinion (maybe a link to show that they are only giving facts)

If anyone voted for Malcanis and didn't know he was going to continue tospeak his mind and tell the truth, that was just them being dumb really. That's not his fault.

Reminds me of how 10s of millions of my countrymen voted for "Hope and Change" instead of atually looking at the actual candidate, then being surprised that they got something different from what they expected (unlike those of us who did our homework).

That "Good Citizen" state worship drivel being pushed in SC will drive even the most bored Eve player right back here.

And we'll still be here.

That they have to "design out" goons is even worse. I don't have love for goon (I don't hate them either) but where would we be without the aspergian nerd-raging alphas getting dramatic over the control of space?

We would be bored to death. That's where.

Eve has one thing that no other game has: the players have the power to make the game change course, to shape and mold it, to become legendary or be a part of both legendary player-driven events and also storyline live events that make it into the novels and lore.

Forget it. We don't even need pandas.

That option sounds pretty bland to me, the possibility of surprise PvP adds spice for me, but if that's what you want then fine....

Just to clarify, the PVP slider only works in "high-sec" while autopiloting.

Despite the wave of disagreements, i agree with you.

I play EVE because it's a spaceship game. despite the games shortcomings. If and when Star Citizen will do that i will quit EVE.

That's not really true depending on what exactly you are talking about. If you are talking about taking over systems, starting a corp that takes over all the null sec, and pvp. Then yes. AT THIS TIME EVE is the only game that has that (that I know of).

However, if you are talking about changing the laws, storyline (a race gets wipe out or make pace between them), finding that one thing that no one else has found (like a relic from the past), fixing the EVE gate, take out the cops for good, etc. You can't do that. At least from what I know of.
In fact, when I heard EVE was a true sandbox. I was thinking my missions could change the game. Win or lose, I won't repeat the same mission over and over. And if someone else messes up, it could mess with me.

I quickly found the true sandbox was a lie, and obviously "EVE is real" moto is a lie. (Come on. There is no physics in the game. Well besides the gravity that holds you down in WIS)

I believe we are all here because we are trying to find something to fill something in us. Something to keep us from being bored. Something that makes us feel like we did something. Something that makes us feel like we are apart of a working team. Or whatever. Only you can say what is missing.

Now, Obviously there is no way any company can fill your whatever. But, I can tell you EVE Online is nowhere near what I am missing. Sadly, EVE Online is the closest thing I can come to at this time to filling what I am missing.
While I doubt I will completely leave EVE. If SC fills my needs, then I will most likely spend whatever time/money with them that I could've been with EVE.

I am sure others feel the same, but I hope CCP is able to give us what we need in time. Because if it's not SC. There is a high chance that another game in the future will give us what we need (or come a hell lot closer).

BTW, the reason why i doubt I will ever get rid of my EVE account is because like any human. My needs change over time. Also, the person with the best skills/isk wins.

This post is BS there hasnt been a single event in EvE that wasnt scripted. Sansha incursions were scripted, arek jalaan was scripted. You dont control sh1t your a puppet buying into the illusion.
