As long as CCP continues to add more spaceship content and fixes, I'd be happy and they can do as much Incarna nonsense as they can possibly fit in their schedule and won't get complaints from me. Spaceships come before spacebarbie though, considering that's where the actual game happens... Roll The current trend isn't looking so good right now though.... Sad

And here's another problem. Incarna shouldn't be considered separate from everything else, because I'm willing to bet you spend at least 5 minutes docked every time you're logged in.

Heck. I knew someone that spent hours and hours and hours just sitting in station. That's all she would do. She was also very uptight and ended up in an argument with me. Needless to say, I left that horrible corporation. ;)

Also hired a contract killer to tear the corporation apart from within, but now he defends learning skills and bashes the new forums.

You want to play poker in a spaceship game and pretend its your character. Is your character going to play poker different than you would as a person? You want to have your computer avatar on the same screen as someone elses computer avatar and pretend you are meeting in person. You want your computer avatar to take a drink at a virtual bar and pretend you are drinking.

Look lots of games offer this stuff but it is not awesome. Second life already fills this niche.

Have you ever even played an MMO outside of EVE Online?

They call them Massively multiplayer online role-playing games for a reason.

But then again, you are, technically playing a "role" no matter what you do. It's your ego that stops you from admitting to it, because you think it might be "nerdy" or "uncool" to pretend to be someone else, somewhere else.

It's not my problem if you find social interaction boring. Not everyone here is a sociopath.

I played city of heroes a bit. You could meet others in rooms in that game. I also played a ww2 game.

I have no problem with roleplaying or pretend. I sort of pretend I am flying a spaceship and shooting other ships. Its fun. But I don't want to just pretend I am playing poker, or having a drink at a bar or talking to people. If I did I would play second life. But truthfully, I think that game sounds like crap. So I play eve instead.

And just because I do not especially look to a mmo for socializing doesn't mean I am not social.

That's about how long it takes for CQ to load before you can mash the undock butan.

I've fought Burn Eden a long time ago, and I don't think they're even relevant today. Why should newer capsuleers even care?

I was a big fan of where WiS was going, but the 18 months thing wasn't something I was ecstatic with. So I unsubscribed and came back for Incarna. Nothing of what was promised has been delivered. There is nothing social about Incarna, and considering it took them 18 months to get to this, horribly optimized and unfinished, product, do we now need to wait another 18 months for the next horribly optimized and unfinished aspect of Incarna to be released? I see where they are going with Incarna, but the progress they've made and the priorities they've set are wildy out of touch with the reality of the game.

So for those of you roleplaying, or claiming that Incarna is inherently social, or whatever else you believe it to be. How has it enhanced your enjoyment of the game itself? Not Incarna as it might be a few years down the line, but the one room we have that took 18 months to release. I imagine the Amarr roleplayers are positively buzzing with excitement at the opportunity to recline, all alone, on a couch in a room that is clearly Minmatarr.

If any other major MMO promised something along the lines of Incarna and then delivered what CCP delivered, they'd be crucified, and rightfully so. Claiming it's an ongoing development process and ~cutting CCP some slack~ is silly. The past 4-5 years have been a development process for WiS. The last 18 months were supposed to be crunch time to get everything ready. And then we get Incarna as it is today, at the expense of other aspects of EVE. Big whoop.

The other thing is people socialize in eve while they are playing eve.

Its not like people socializing during a mining op are going to say "hey lets dock the barges and sit in a station and talk instead"

Its not like people socializing while doing a roam are going to say "hey lets dock our ships and talk while we look at our avatars drinking a beer instead."

Etc.

Accordingly its not like incarna is going to add very much at all from the social side of things.

Hmm lets see, the best PvPers in the game. Ya I would call that relevant. Why would new capsuleers care? Because if you want to be a PvPer, that is the best corp in the game to join period. Lets not discount people just because you don't know who they are. Look up their war record and than tell me they are irrelevant. I would join them in a heartbeat if given the chance.

A.. ******* men. Seriously. I find it difficult to grasp how anyone can look at this situation and be like "they are doing a great job, cut them some slack". Its a cluster **** situation and don't get me wrong. I'm rooting for them to get their **** together, but let’s call a spade a spade here. This expansion is a complete mess and should never have been released in its 10% complete state. I mean I love the avatars, I love incarna as a concept. But for fucks sake if its not done don't release it. I don't understand why the development community has to suddenly pre ejaculate all over us all the time... keep it in the pants until its ready and then give to me big boy!

I think you would find the majority of "capsuleers" would have no problem with both Incarna, and the nex store, had CCP actually continued to develop the FiS aspect of the game, and not use the few resources Eve actually has to introduce the Aurum system which has only 1 purpose, to make quick money. Why do you think we are still waiting on the other CQ? The only reason Gallente CQ was pushed out so fast was because of the next store.



This is a valid point, which is why I believe it would be fair to say that both aspects of the game we all play should have equal attention. I mean, I've been waiting for Incarna for a long time. The main reason I argue is because I would hate to see CCP take 2 steps back. I don't think that falling backwards is what needs to be done.

Maybe a reallocation of resources, I don't know though, I'm not over their in CCP HQ. I'm not a developer. I am simply a subscriber to a service that I enjoy.


So tell me what it is you want from Incarna? Beside strut around in a room with a door.

CCP has thrown out a few concept ideas on where they want to go with Incarna, which all sound awesome in theory. But when it comes to CCP's ability to deliver, well, whatever new feature they just released falls flat on its face and stays there until someone at CCP happens to look at a already huge backlog of things they should really fix - years ago.

As much as you would hate CCP to take two steps back, I hate that CCP is so utterly convinced that new features sell better than polished features and content that I would rather see CCP take two steps back than three forward.

Although the first iteration is only a room with a clothing store, you do realize that there is more coming, right? I see people make this statement, "Oh well, Incarna is a just a room bla bla bla!"

It's part 1 of an "ongoing" expansion.

A little lacking on the feature side? Yes, absolutely. Totally cool anyway? Yes!

Instead of staring at brown covered in brown with a brown ship in the middle, I can sit down on my couch and search the market, make buy orders or view my planetary stuff. Then again, I've always had a bit of an RP side.


Still hopeful after only a few years? It will pass, don't you worry.

Mittani's position on the CSM has nothing to do with the "power" conveyed by that position since there isn't any power at all. It has no authority. I could get elected to the CSM and be the chair or whatnot but what would that accomplish? Nothing.

Mittani is drawing from metagaming and the fact that, for whatever reason (*cough* money *cough*), he has influence in Goon. The 'power' that is being brought to bear is due to Goon's metagaming. It has nothing to do with the CSM. And so, participation is irrelevant.
