i think you still dont understand, i believe that the CSM could be a great asset to the game, but that its potential is wasted by people who dont care enough, or use it as a joke.

all i said is that i am not voting for lyris or any other goon, not that i wasn't voting at all.

and having this thread at the top of GD helps others see what kind of people are running, good or bad, and i hope they choose better because of it. all in all, everyone wins.

My ideas re: new player experience/retention are all terrible. I'm waiting for someone in a position of perceived authority to spoon-feed me my opinion.

I actually have a great deal to say on the subject, but no actual solutions to propose, so I elect to keep quiet.

I have a feeling that when the goons maintain their position in the CSM (hint: they will), you're still going to refuse to accept that its what the majority of EVE's players want. Classic problem of democracy - when people you don't agree with wins, *obviously* the vote was flawed. After all, everyone you know agrees with you!

Birds of a feather.

Wisdom is a rare trait.

i am not "going to refuse to accept that its what the majority of EVE's players want," a statment that is completely devoid of meaning when you look at the voter turn out, i am just not going to support a position that is in conflict to my own.

you people really need to read what is being said instead of assume what you think is correct.

filters like that work. if someone is apathetic, and decides not to vote, how meaningful exactly would his vote have been if he had?

Don't trust a goon when he talks about new player experience.

They spoil them. They ruin the whole growing up/experience path.
They pick insecure people with no real self esteem and give them the false
feeling of might and awesomeness.

That said ... it's probably no loss, because smart people with character wouldn't join the goons anyway.

I don't see much loss in skipping all the boring faction grinding and missioning to start doing this on day 2 of your character's existence.

A non-vote is a vote, it just can't be measured easily.

Some reasons for not voting:

Can't be bothered.
They don't like the system of voting, therefore they don't.
They have no faith in any of the candidates (difficult to have faith in people you don't know).

Now if there was a get rid of the CSMs on the list of options, I'm sure you would see more votes.

Exceptions aren't the rule. Besides, no one is forced to faction grind or mission.
That's just what the (edit: boring, generic) idiots do who don't know better.

He thinks that's the exception. Lol

While his particular day 2 kills were extremely shiny, pretty much every single newbro we bring on to fleets ends up doing something hilarious or awesome, eventually leading to the loss of his ship and several hundred million deposited in his wallet by fleetmates for the good time.

We make a point of keeping EVE fun, and giving new players a chance to experience the best parts of EVE before they burn out doing the **** they'd be doing otherwise.

And highsec activities are all roughly on par with the excitement of mission running. Most of us nullseccers didn't just jump straight into 0.0, we trudged through that crap. Hence why we make a point to make 0.0 accessible to our newbros - so they don't have to.

If you're stupid enough to believe that, go ahead. Truth is, we just recruit from Something Awful. Don't even bother trying to throw that blanket on a forum with 150k+ members.
