Fixing the CPU usage problem should have top priority. Since the patch, CPU usuage is 90 - 100% when running 4 EVE clients. The CPU is permanently in boost mode. Today my laptop got so hot, i had to turn it off.

Since heat is very bad for computer hardware, running EVE clients can actually damage your computer ...

EVE is laggy, even when i run just 1 client on my laptop.

It freezes also for a few seconds.

CCP you did a fine job with this new patch.......NOT!!!

Why such a drastic change in memory usage or so much usage?

By all accounts the test server is running smoother but the memory usage is still confusing me.

Good to hear!
How are you measuring the memory usage? Are you checking it ingame or in task manager? In task manager please check the various values (working set, commit size, ...).

So you ready for this? Here goes,

When I first log in, in station. SINGULARITY

All 4 accounts right around this.
Working set 750,112 / 0 / 12,500
Commit Size: 772,916 / 0 / 11,920

But about 10 minutes in my first account that was logged in first starts to drop, now I'm sitting at a belt.
Working set: 556,392 / 0 / 176,012
Commit Size: 921,240 / 0 / 166,320
The other accounts are still at the above work set and commit size. All in the same belt.

Then at almost exactly 20 mins in my first account drops from what I stated above and my other 3 clients drop like a rock in memory usage.
01:18 utc
Working set 750,112 / 0 / 12,500
Commit Size: 772,916 / 0 / 11,920

01:42 utc
Working set: 127,332 / 12 / 636,224
Commit Size: 912,272 / 0 / 126,512 (each of the next 2 clients vary but somewhat in this range)

I then docked in station and my clients memory creeped up about 250,000 mb in memory but not as much as when I was first logged into singularity. So ya to you this may make sense but to me it just adds to my confusion. And now as I sit and type this I notice my fans slowing down and take a look at the clients and the memory usage is now dropping to 150,000 MB on average.
(all clients minimized at this time but this is how it use to be when clients were minimized, fans would slow down)

Singularity is definitely still running smoother than Tranquility at the moment. But something still seems off. The last time I was able to have all clients up and not minimized was well before 119.3 update. Seems like headway is being made and I hope this helps and not cause unnecessary testing and time on your hands.

I have a question regarding plex that has been raised in part but have not as yet been completely addressed AFAIK.

Previous to this release plex could be activated remotely for several purposes - 30 days of game time, 30 days on another account, and so on. As of this release, that functionality has disappeared. Coupled with the inability to move plex remotely into the vault (without an error message being provided when attempting to do so), this means that previous in-game functionality for plex has been removed.

Was this intended?

If not, which approach will CCP be taking to correct this:
a) restore previous remote capability for plex
b) allow remote movement of plex to the vault (this assumes the vault has the full capability for plex that previously existed)
c) other

Thanks - I really don't want to be flying to multiple locations in EVE for the sole purpose of moving plex to the vault.

From Faclons post on the first page:

Know Issues
It is not possible to Move PLEX to Vault remotely from the asset window

Sigh.

Thank you for the response ISD Max Trix - but I was aware that remote movement to the vault does not work. That is why I identified it as option b) for fixing the problem.

Still looking for a response regarding the missing functionality. You may recall that one of the tenets of EVE is that changes are not supposed to remove previous functionality. I don't care that these are now mini-plex - I would just like to be able to plex my account with 500 plex that are far, far away...just as I did last month with 1 plex that was far, far away.

I suppose this could be considered an edge case but still.....

This fix was being deployed to Tranquility at the same time as you were sending this post. This should at least fix the problem of high CPU usage with minimized clients.

Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong.

I am playing in EVE about 3 years and never had this problem. After downtime I can not connect to Tranquility.

Hi,

Just tested it with 12 clients, The lag isn't 100% fixed, there is still a couple of seconds lag when switching clients (unlike the instant switch pre-patch) but we can work with that Smile , however on the other hand it's 100% better than the performance we were seeing post patch.

Many thanks ccp Big smile

I understand that part broski, it's the fact that my rig tells me some thing is idling down within the game after the 20 min or so logged into Singularity. This is whats confusing me. And the fact that now I can have all 4 accounts on the same screen with no lag or performance drop tells me this started before 119.3 as that is when I had to minimize my accounts just to play lag free. And then 119.5 happened, minimized accounts caused a huge consumption of cpu, thank the stars for that, really was chewing up some serious computing power. Now I'm able to revert to my old playing habbits lol all screens on deck!!

Go check it out yourself and open up the monitor window with 4 or more clients on singularity and wait, watch the memory graph and in 20 min or so, bottoms up! Now if this is how it is suppose to function, great than it's working fine, but if this is a$$backwards than we still have worms.

Cheers DR o7

I feel like maybe not all the changes that were on Singularity made it to TQ?

There is a slight improvement. Not running as well as it was on Singularity.. on Sing. I was able to quickly and smoothly switch between screens and minimized screens were running normally. On TQ while it runs a little better (my computer is not trying to melt down any more), minimized screens seem to just freeze, like they don't get any updates. When you go back to them there is a big jumpy update.

For example: I Fleet warp my miners to the belt. The screen I am on smoothly warps out there, the fleet warping all together. But on a minimized screen they are still just outside of the station. When I click the screen it does a herky-jerky update.

Sometimes the windows just become unresponsive and take several seconds to 'update' or catch up with what is going on.

Edit to add: Went back on sisi to play around some more since live sucks.. and now the test server is performing the same as live.. ugh What? it was working great yesterday.. what happened lol

Have you checked your account management page? The code that displays added time ingame was borked on launch, maybe hasn't been fixed yet.

Hello again,

As I posted before, I am unable to play anymore on my older machine, even I was able to run two clients (three with everything turned offf). I dont have that big usage of memory and CPU as before, it is not 100%, around 60% now which is slightly better after hotfix. However the problem prevails, graphic card is getting warmer, and I am able to play for like 5 seconds in space before I get one single client (every detail turned off) freezed. Tested it on scenarios when I had fullscreen, window mode, and minimized, all results in the same manner - freeze.

CPU - Intel Core2 Duo E7600 3.06GHz
2GB RAM (+2GB memory on HDD)
32bit Windows7
NVIDIA Quadro FX 380 - latest driver version 9.18.13.4144

What specifications you need to identify problem? Is there a solution, or should I be planning to unsubscribe (I guess not only me, but few others with older computers too) and start sparing money for new computer?
