How was gankers getting insurance payout "harsh"?

It was pure free money. Nothing harsh about that.

There should be severe consequences for attacking and destroying non-war targets in high sec.

Instant drop to -10 security status, and a 2-3 second warp delay for all ships while at -10. Old school Ultima online had severe penalties to stats for "going red". Eve should as well.

The warp speed delay would only be applied in high sec.

Gankers got insurance payout! FREE MONEY!
How is that harsher? :D

Jenn, please.

anything killed by CONCORD has no insurance payout..
Please learn game mechanics before making assumptions

Edit
I reread, but that fact still applies

And well I learned that in Anti-Ganking, if you have decent ideas you usually are tagged as a CODE. spy even if you clearly aren't one ;)
I've seen anti-gankers switch sides because of that cancerous attitude

It would certainly mix things up a bit if there was more penalties for "going red" in highsec - but I'd extend it somewhat to the bounty system and war dec system (for parties on both sides) as well

In time, like anything else, EVE will fall. It will become too sparsely populated to generate profitability for CCP and they will "sadly and with heavy hearts" shut down EVE servers due to lack of income and ability to maintain the servers. ...............

There is the 'sad realist' part of me that agrees with you - and that will indeed be a very sad day. Actually, I more 'hopefully' think that this could happen because someone else realises there is a particular niche in the market and we get two such games - and there isn't room in the market for both.

Even more likely than that, however, is that the wonderful people at CCP will get increasingly poached by those other pathetic 'entertainments' for more money.

For I assure you that the world needs at least one game that is actually more realistic, more challenging and more worthwhile than all those other useless carebear-world excuses for 'games' - for otherwise (queue hyperbole) mankind is truly f*****.

Moreover, if we could actually get all the pychopaths and amoral ratbags in the world to play in EVE rather than IRL - then the whole world would be a better place!Big smile

What is really wrong with all those who come to EVE is that they come with no other experience except that of: WoW; Ark; Space Engineers; Star Trek; Star Wars; My Little Pony; & Pokemon. Youngsters who have become self-entitled dolists who know nothing about the real world because they aren't taught anything - the ones who never climbed trees or took childhood risks.

What EVE really needs is a marketing effort that expresses the realism within a game environment - and poses the big question:

'Are you good enough to rise to the challenge of playing EVE Online?'

Again I think this is something that can to a large extent be dealt with by getting players working together earlier on - atleast as an option - partly "safety" in numbers and all that and partly there is a good chance they will end up grouped with someone(s) who can help them to deal with it. I don't think the current starter organisations and corps, etc. entirely cover it sufficiently and in many cases people don't necessarily want to commit to a corp (which can raise expectations of them) before they are ready or know what they want, etc.

EVE needs real penalties to suicide ganking in high sec. Not this slap on the wrist, negligible risk BS.

Its become far to commonplace and a preferred pvp activity vs roaming low/null and facing opponents who will actually shoot back.

This is a large part of what makes EVE such a joke of a game. Suicide gankers risk next to nothing for potentially tremendous rewards and the costs are so negligible that its commonly used as a griefing tool.

I live in WH space and what happens in highsec doesn't have a huge impact on me. However I do think wardecs are "mostly" used as a means to get lot's of free easy targets to pad killboards.

Criminal activity and suicide ganking is fine. It teaches people to be cautious and play smart. It also ads content.

I think if highsec wardecs were removed, those people would move out into lower security space to find content. More people in highsec would stay in the game and create their own player corporations (They currently hide in NPC corporations). When more new players stick around, more of them will buy PLEX. When these players sell PLEX, the the prices will be lower. Let people who don't like PvP enjoy highsec (other than the occasional suicide gank). Eventually they may want to make more isk to PLEX their accounts themselves and they will move out into less secure space.

Did I mention that I like low PLEX prices.

*Edit*
Actually, the ability to wardec corps with POCO's and such would have to remain... Or the ability for player corporations to own them would have to be removed.

No..Eve needs real players of a game that is played exactly how it's intended. If Eve is such a joke to you..why are you here and what does that say about you? Roll

If I had a nickel for every time someone said women don't play eve, I'd have a bag of nickels to whack the next person who said it..

Heh, I treat most social interactions in online games such as this as if I were walking down the street of the worst slum of the planet.

Some of the Corps/players in this game certainly parody the worst, and they are frequently proud of it.
They enjoy all the noise their actions and opinions generate.

To be honest, they aren't worth the calories of getting upset.
Let them shout at the wall of indifference.

Though, it can be pretty humorous to watch.
