With EVE Probe also pulling from the same cache some time soon will Probe have a way to direct it to the cache location we set up or will the probe program also move into launcher?

If i dont know something about EVE. I check https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/ISK_The_Guide

On the github page linked above, you should see a 'Download ZIP' button on the right hand side. Download and extract the files to a folder - when I tried this in Chrome, it put the file in my Downloads folder and extracted to rescache-master.

Open up a terminal window, change the directory to the rescache-master folder and run 'python rescache.py'.

Use the -i option to tell the tool what resource index file to use - it can either be the full path to the resfileindex.txt in the EVE installation, or simply the name of the app under the Applications folder, for example:

To verify the integrity of files in the cache:
python rescache.py -i "EVE Online Sisi.app" verify

To download any files missing from the cache:
python rescache.py -i "EVE Online Sisi.app" download

To purge any extra files from the cache:
python rescache.py -i "EVE Online Sisi.app" purge

OK, I did all this, and got some odd results on my Mac.
It downloaded all the files, which is odd as I had already done that by running my sisi client. In addition, the SharedCache folder did not get bigger. So where did it put 13 gig of files? A bit of searching......
They all got placed in a new folder structure in the rescache-master folder:

~/Library/Application Support/EVE Online/p-drive ..... (And so on. And yes, the top new folder was named ~ ).

I had changed the directory to the rescache-master folder, and the command I used was:

python rescache.py -i "EVE Singularity.app" download

OK, that's strange - I'll look into this.

This issue is fixed now on GitHub.

We'll change Probe to use the registry keys we set up for EVE to ensure it always uses the same cache location.

Sisi restarted is it available there yet or was the restart for a different reason.

still not getting the rescache commands to work on windows.

using "rescache diff" in the relevant ben folder should work correct or am I reading documents about how CMD lines work wrong.

You should run it from the EVE install folder - one up from the bin folder, then use "bin\rescache diff".

Ok for mac users having problems with the DOD client.

Firstly the problem was in the initial prompt to migrate the shared cache resource for me anyways due to the fact that my 2 eve client folder applications were named eve online tq.app & Singularity.app.
So I think when the DOD launcher tried to migrate across it had a conflict as the target file was renamed and it couldn't access it there in causing me issue, could this have been the initial issue?
As the target for shared cache is /Users/Name/Library/Application Support/EveOnline/p_drive/Local Settings/........etc
When mine was actually called Eve Online TQ.app.

This is what I did installed a new instance of eve online then renamed it "Sisi" directed it to open for Singularity using the /Applications/EVE\ Online\ Sisi.app/Contents/MacOS/launcher --args /server:87.237.38.50 cmd in Terminal.

The launcher starts and prompts the user to migrate again , to which I said "yes"
Then it begins to download the huge 12 Gb files to the shared cache folder which ended up being in the new download "eve online" file which it creates a new "eve online"root file (due to my original file name is eve online TQ),then it completed and I can access Singularity.

Then I cleaned up the files mess by firstly taking the new populated SharedCache file in the new Eve Online root files and moving it across to Eve Online TQ/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/SharedCache in my Original Eve Online Tranquility folder.
Then renamed the original client from "Eve Online TQ" back to just "Eve Online"
Then I deleted the new Eve Online root files that it created.

So now I just had the Eve Online app and my Eve Online Sisi app.
Then Instead of opening the application from the shell window, you may also do this directly from the dock by creating an automator application.

Open automator, found in applications
Select "Application"
In the tree view on the left side, select "Library" and in its submenu, select "Tools"
Among the choices to the right, double click "Run Shellscript"
The right hand side should now contain a window in which you see the text "cat". Delete that and
Locate your Eve Online Sisi in Finder right click on it and select "show package contents " from the drop menu.
Then contents/MacOS/Launcher and drag the launcher into this window and Add " --args /server:87.237.38.50"
The text should now be looking like /Applications/EVE\ Online\ Sisi.app/Contents/MacOS/launcher --args /server:87.237.38.50
In the File menu, select Save. Save anywhere you wish.
To replace the icon of the newly created automator app

Locate the Eve Online app in Finder, right click, show info.
Click the Eve Online icon in the top left corner, then CMD-C (copy)
Locate the saved application in Finder, right click, show info
Click the Automator icon in the top left corner, then CMD-V (paste)
Now you may drag the newly created automator application to the dock.

Then to check the SharedCache is populating data in the correct location on the original eve online tranquility file just open Singularity and check the size of the SharedCache Folder before and after the update as it will update another 500 odd mb.

This worked of me after exhausting the easy routes, hope it helps anyone pulling their hair out.
Thanks for the assistance guys.

You should run it from the EVE install folder - one up from the bin folder, then use "bin\rescache diff".

drag and dropping the program runs the basic block with the instructions but every time I try to reset the command line to the singularity folder it includes bin on the end.
C:\Program files\ccp\singularity\bin>rescache diff does not work

I probably am missing some thing simpleUgh

Running "C:\Program files\ccp\singularity\rescache.exe" works however to work the main program.

It should be C:\Program files\ccp\singularity>bin\rescache diff

This is needlessly complicated, however - I'll fix this up before we go live on TQ.

Open command line.
Change active directory to C:\Program files\ccp\singularity\ (cd C:\Program files\ccp\singularity\)
input command: bin\rescache.exe verify

If you have difficulties with command line, you can run simple batch file inside client directory.

That works Thanks.

Switching back to update previous cache files shows that application of the new files does not show on the progress bar. It sticks at 100% download.

Verify did not identify that there was an update required.

I tried this. WIN 7 64 bit.

My singularity install is in a seperate folder (but on the same partition) as my TQ install.

Clicked on the singularity laucher.. it downloaded a launcher update and then froze at installing files. After waiting 20 mins I closed the laucher and tried again. This time the launcher updated (well it closed and I got a log error msg... but i always get that when the launcher closes in TQ anyway so wasnt to bothered.)

Reopen launcher.

I receive no option to prime the cache.

Then it goes to the DOD choose cache location screen.

When it asked me to choose the location of my shared dod cache folder I clicked no. (as i wanted to go with the default option)

launcher then downloaded some cache files (about 500mb). Log in and click Play

Got on the test server fine. but everything tried to download in the background.. warp to a station its a grey blurry mess (this will be a great experience for new players.. Roll my download speed is 9.5 mbps and it took 15 seconds for the station to download the normal textures and become sharp and clear again.)

So I switched to download all before client is launched (in laucher settings). suprise suprise.. the launcher hasn't copied over my local files into the shared cache so it tries to redownload 11.5 GB...

Sorry EvE devs ... this is a mess as it currently stands. Im not going to redownload over 11 Gigs.. now i cant use the test server Sad

it might be pretty helpful if you were to provide us with those log files. We can't fix the problem if we don't know what it is.

I would be happy to do that. Could advise the logs you need and their location.

I have found the launcher log for tranquility but I am unable to find the launcher log for singularity. (as mentioned the two servers are in seperate install folders so Id assume they would generate seperate logs)

The new launcher updates correctly and restarts without any problem.

But:

  • I didn't get any dialog box, didn't get any option, nothing...
  • The download is very fast at start and get slower and slower as the time past...
  • The percents are totally out of sync with the downloaded files' size...
  • The download stops again at around 60%...
  • The launcher doesn't freeze again when the download stops, but...

So, I still can't log on SiSi anymore...

Edit
Note that if I restart the launcher, download starts again (and has kept already downloaded files as the total download size has been reduced) but freezes stops almost immediatly...

This still hasn't been fixed and so I still (again and again) can't log on Sisi anymore...

It didn't clear out my old install when it migrated to the new location so I have two installs for sisi. Could be the way mines set up though but here's the log.
