Suicide ganking is like...

....digital nailbiting. It's the line of least resistence. It's the shortest distance between two points. It's evidence CCP has lost control of their game. The "fine tune it" workload now exceeds the physical capability of their corp. Suicide ganking is just a way to kill time itself. There's nothing else as "fun" or cost-benefit profitable (according to the practitioners). And, of course, there's the cheap thrills, since other thrills are no longer available.

Reminds me of Bill Cosby bemoaning the loss of control of his household...he doesn't know how he lost it...he just knows he doesn't have it anymore. Circumstances now rule his roost, as is with EVE. CCP can't admit to this fact, as no corporation would ever do such a thing.

Think of EVE as a business FIRST, a game (or product) SECOND. As long as people are buyin', it doesn't matter what the nature of the product is. When people stop buying the SECOND, the FIRST suddenly becomes critical. So, they don't HAVE to care. Where did they lose control? Ask Mitt. When they started getting involved in minutia as though it was the whole enchilada. Time goes by and with it...all the possibilities.

It's like catching a wave. You get one shot at it. If you take the wrong line, no amount of a teetering balancing act will save it. When CCP set up their revolutionary corporation, what was it they were revolting against? I'm sure someone remembers, and when they do recall, I bet there's a heavy sigh with a bowed, shaking head. Floundering R Us.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

You're right, it's a business.

A business based on a sandbox. The entire business model is "A Sandbox".

So you're trying to tell me that they don't have "control" over their game? Are you really trying to say that? Let me assure you, if they choose to, they can pull the plug. They are in control. In fact, if they wanted to, they could make it so you can't activate modules in high-sec, period.

Guess what? They won't! Do you know why?

Because their business model is a ******* sandbox, that's why. Everybody else does the Theme Park thing and it's absolutely terrible.

Sandboxes, for all the perceived whiner problems, are much more compelling. What we do matters. And apparently, judging by all the whine on here, it matters a LOT. So people continue to be compelled. Hey, guess what? This is a PVP game!

And CCP hasn't backed down from that, despite legions of whiney entitlementbabies such as yourself.

There are games that cater to people who don't want to be targeted by other players (who they always perceive as griefers, because it's happening to them). I'm not saying you'll be happy there, because I really doubt it's in your character not to whine. But please, check it out. Maybe their forums are more receptive to this kind of schlock.

"lost control of the game" ? Its been possible from day-1, shouldnt you say "Never had any control at all"?

Welcome to eve. Suicide ganking is part of the game mechanics. You are not allowed to be 100% in space. This is not like WOW or other MMO's that cradle you and protect you. Eve is literally an open sandbox and the rules are deliberately left open.

If you dont like suicide ganking, do something about it. Wardec the corps who are doing it. Sit on major gates with Scimitars and save the poor haulers.

In eve, the game is supposed to be what the PLAYERS make of it. Its not a game where rules govern everything you can/cant do.

"War declarations are never officially considered griefing and are not a bannable offense, and it has been repeatedly stated by the developers that the possibility for non-consensual PvP is an intended feature." - CCP

I guess your response is the best to start with here. Firstly, I never said I didn't like anything. I see it as behavior, as would a behaviorist. People tend to do things for specific reasons, though they claim otherwise. (And, thanks for welcoming me to EVE. I've only been playing it since '06. Guess that makes me a n00b.) You know, I've never played WoW, so I wouldn't know about being cradled!

By "lost control," if you haven't noticed, the "fix-it" list has grown to epic proportions and doesn't stop. By control, I don't mean controlling player activity, I mean being able to address the development aspect of game "developing." Maybe you should re-read the post, and address your comments to what IT addresses, instead of assuming it's something it's not...but then, you'd have to have more than the attention span of a gnat to do that.

What precipitated this diatribe I have no idea, aside from a reading comprehension problem. Thanks for the breathy CCP apologist rant, though. A day without that is like a day...

The business model isn't the game design. But, your spewing forth on business models speaks for itself in terms of you knowing what one is. And, yeah, you jump straight to the whiner part....I love MMO cliches and you know most of them...you must be a suicide ganker. I'll just bet this is all to defend suicide ganking. Again, not remotely having to do with the topic of the OP. I hope you felt good typing all that...schlock (as you say.)

Suicide ganking is actually a pretty in depth business if you're looking to actually profit. Risky business too.

Alliance mate recently ganked a juicy untanked hauler in a tornado with nearly a billion in the cargo hold.

He got one whole cargohold expander II for his trouble. Many lols were had.

People have been crying about suicide ganking for as long as I've been playing EvE.

Not long before I started playing EvE, it was actually possible to tank CONCORD. And you think hauling is risky now.

You know what they say - the more things change, they more they stay the same.

Bill Cosby is awesome... loved his records.

"Listen, I didn't put the bullet in the furnace, and stop talkin' about my mother!"

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

The thread is about the fact people follow the line of least resistance, and since other fun things to do in EVE don't outweigh suicide ganking, then that's what gets done. There's also an inference that CCP's bitten off more than it can chew with regard to their "to-do" list and what is (according to Serene) "humanly possible" to do.

I think she was being funny. Gotta learn to poke that tongue in the cheek from time to time. Apparently the mongoloid suicide gankers that jumped on her post don't quite comprende. (Big surprise there, WOT??)

funny story...

I read a post from some noob crying about suicide ganking because they were probably AFK mining and got blasted...

I think to myself "******* noobs..." and click away from the page...

Upon my clicking, I am confronted with a CCP Eve Gate error page "WE WERE GANKED"

As you see... Ganking is not just a part of the game, but a way of life in eve....

c.) I've NEVER been "suicide ganked."
