[Development Thread] {Project entering Hiatus} Eve Morning Report

Good New Year, Mentlegen;

What a long strange year it's been. I leave for a while, and all this stuff gets changed. What is this new forum nonsense?

For those of you who don't know who I am or what I've done, I used to podcast a short, daily economics podcast reporting prices of commonly-traded items on the market for you to enjoy with your morning cup of joe, on your way to work, or when you just don't feel like rifling through a spreadsheet to find some basic information.


Anyway, onto the taters of this post:

I'm thinking (read: considering) about trying the podcast game again. It was a collossal time investment and for a while, I found myself with very little. I now stare at a sea of it and the only barrier remaining is re-jiggering my sleep schedule once again (today, Day 1).

I'm just working on some prelim notes for what I need to get together and would like some input. I will then do a couple of trial runs and make them available, and If all looks and feels right, then I will be green-lighting the project.

Of course, the minerals are on the list of things to cover, and I'm playing with a few different ways to present the new POS fuel prices; which is particularly where I'd like some input.

Would you rather see the individual components of a fuel block reported, the blocks themselves, or both?

For the time being, I don't anticipate covering all Moon Minerals or PI items. If you guys picked, say, 10 of each that you find to be useful to know, post em and I'll consider it.

Trial shows are going to be brought to you by the fine folks at Tash-Murkon Prime Industries, and Eve Insurance, who, in the past, put up with my nonsense and supported the show anyway. After the trial week, should I choose to continue, I will open the bidding for advertisement.

Both really but limiting to 10 is tricky - you might want to focus on the non-PI part of it, namely - 4 fuel blocks, 4 isotopes, ozone, heavy water, there 10 (!)

Ice stuff has been up and down a fair bit lately so there would be some interest in this and PI value is tracked in other places too.



If you really want to do PI - the most interesting to track would probably be robotics (because of it's other uses) as well as coolant (which for some reason goes up and down and up and down...).


Best of luck getting this off the ground again.

I had never heard about your podcast but it definitely sounds like a cool idea regardless. So welcome back and let us know what you end up deciding.

What about an exchange rate for USD -> ISK (Eve's not Iceland's, obviously); i.e. 1 Dollar = X Plex (depending on PLEX prices)

Honestly those prices I get from various api's and cache scraping. All of which is automated for me.

What would greatly interest me more would be a short podcast on what is actually driving the markets. Events in nullsec, capital & supercapital losses, wars, manipulation efforts. Some could be based on reporting, some could be speculation. Just identify the speculation as speculation, because anything to do with the markets are often pretty murky, and I'm good.

It would be valuable, entertaining and something I'd reserve time for every day.

That sort of show is a ton of work to do every day; however, We [used, and still intend to] do weekend shows where we cover much of the meta gaming and galaxy-wide trends and such. They clock in anywhere from an hour to two when we did them; complete with a panel of knowledgeable folks; Hexxx and LaVistaVista, most notably.

Quick Update:

Streamlined my spreadsheet. I'm going to commit to a trial week starting Wednesday Morning. I should have the website, feed, and everything working by then. I'll post updates as they come.

I liked the old podcast, good luck with the new one.

I also agree that some analysis would be nice to hear on a weekly basis. I don't have a lot of time to follow the larger trends, and it would be cool to hear some of them summarized on a semi regular basis.

Damn, that'd be pretty cool. Send me an Eve mail with what you have in mind and I'll give it some thought!

I'll work on the analytics side of things (May have to pick up a couple of books, though).

Got the subdomain up and running and Wordpress is installed! Next on my to-do list is some RSS voodoo, making it shinier, and then I shall release such info to New Eden. Stay tuned, folks.
