Stay on topic TBH you look like you are just trying to help bury the truth.

Fox knows no truths, only realities.

The one you twisted into existince is rather.... horribly distorted.

I have seen these sort of thing happen in the former northern coalition...round up all the noobs with more isk then brains...and one by one all their accounts get hacked....so reality right now? no.... but experience can see where this is going...

"Guys guys I have no evidence for any of the pubbie nonsense i'm about to parrot over and over but ~THE GOONIES~ require asset list access on their APIs just like literally everyone else and they are CLEARLY using this to probe targets for account hacking and there can't be any other reason at all"

There is no reason you need to see anyones assets.

NO other alliance wants to know assets. LIES

Riiight…

Yes they do. In fact, a fair amount of them will want to know a whole lot more.

Wow, people on the forums really are stupid, if you have a good password and sufficient security measures in place you'll be reasonably safe as well as if you change your password regularly and scan your computers for keyloggers regularly. Plus even a full API key won't let anyone hack your account since it only gives your character name not your account name, so unless you are a complete ****** and use your character name for your account name you will be just fine.

If they were using this solely to gank targets I say awesome....but room for accounts to be hacked is too great and is inappropriate

You are clueless about how to hack an account - much easier then you think....API just lets you know what account is worth the effort.

Good thing, then, that no such room is offered by the API.

you know that there are sites where once you have the API you can see where assets are in real time?

I didn't know this.

Care to point me towards one?

this functionality would be really helpful to me but so far I have been subject to the asset list's 6 hours cache timer...

If someone was actually to finish the sentence in a reasonable way...

realtime asset tracking

reading comprehension...

you only can get fresh asset data via API once every 6 hours - every application that uses the API is subject to this limitation.

of course you can retrieve the outdated data again and again and again... but it should be pretty obvious that this is in no way "real-time" Roll

real-time asset tracking is impossible using the EVE API.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

You are wrong....read the site

also will give you scenario...Goon alt corp sits in jita or pipe...sees freighter...runs api asset check with provided api...can instantly tell what is in your freighter and knows if it is gankable...even 6 hour cache is more then enough.

ALSO still looking for answer as to why goons wants complete asset list

Ok.
“The above URL gives you output that is exactly what CCP gives you”

I.e. subject to the 6h cache. Not real-time.

You've already been given it: for the same reason everyone else asks for it.
