You're an idiot. Nothing ccp makes can damage your computer; if you built your pc, then that explains why it crashed but, based on how you define your pc problem as a "crash", you didnt build your pc, i hope. I feel bad for that pc if you did. It probably has no thermal paste, no adequate unidirection air flow, nothing.

Oh, really? Don't you remember that patch when some of system files were destroyed on some machines?
So, it's you who's an idiot here.

12:55 UTC The server is currently experiencing node issues on start up which has resulted in Tranquility going into an invalid state. We are reviewing the logs and will attempt another start up when the problem is identified and fixed. This will lead for a further delay. We will update with a new eta as soon as possible. Once again, please accept our apologies for this unexpected extended downtime.

Shocked

well it seems everyone else expected it to be extended apart from ccp, what don't they surpise us next time and tell its going to take 2 hours in stead of 1 and surpise us all when it comes up in time

Well ccp did some gooood changes since you've been gone. I've been putting fire under their ass in the 300 bug reports I have made over the last year and they suddenly started fixing the problems.

Basically, i threatened a boycott :)

1) (The one downside of the Fuel Blocks approach is that it's impossible to give faction towers a fuel consumption bonus any more (you can't consume 2/3 of a block). The devs talked to some large-scale starbase operators about this, and they were told that the main bonus of faction towers for them is actually that they last longer between fuel cycles. To try and compensate for the increased running costs, they've taken the above bay size increases and added +25% bay size on top of that for the "tier 1" faction towers, and +50% bay size for the "tier 2" faction towers. )

2) (Faction towers use 10% less fuel for the "tier 1" variety and 20% less fuel for the "tier 2" variety.)

So there is no longer a reduced cost to running faction pos's or is there because in 2 locations it says different things.

There is also no mention of what happens to starbase charters for high sec pos's.

Please read the latest devblog on these changes: http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=3143

Charters are mentioned in the original devblog here: http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=3029

How often did you see the message "we're updating our software - please come back later" at, say, Amazon's? The secret is to differ between "dev servers", "staging servers" (with a copy or view of database from the live environment) and "production systems".

We all love the effects of your expansions and patches. But we hate the process of you rolling them out.

Update early, deploy often sounds good but is a practice which doesn't work here. Servers being shutdown and started up repeatedly is more a sign of trial-and-error/guessing than... ah, sod it. Am going to watch a movie.
