Grid Fu could do with a nerf :p

I know its legit, probably because its impossible to avoid inadvertently doing it but while you are fixing other things this could do with some attention.

How is asking for a fix a feature or an idea?

Theres been no end of discussion threads on fixes to papercuts, so before you pull the e-on memes out have a moment to think :)

Then why did you not post in the "little things" thread stickied above.

Otherwise, apologies. Issues, Workarounds & Localization forum area is that way --->

Apologies. Issues, Workarounds & Localization forum area is that way --->

Asking for fixes to issues where there may be differing opinions on the legitimacy of the tactics involved is the domain of general discussion.

As it is for many other grievances with other mechanics and balance issues.

Thanks for contributing, your input was valuable, now move along.

That's strike two.

Do you even know what grid-fu is?

In reply to your late edit, i thought the loss of a 25 billion isk Mimir kill might be worth its own thread :p

Doc, why is it that you feel the need to police the forums and attempt to redirect every post that you think is out of place?

Do you lack control over that many things in your personal life that you seek to control an internet forum despite the fact that you are not a moderator?

I would recommend you try a zen garden and letting go of the things you can't control, you'll feel better about yourself and lessen the image of "desperate controlfreak" that you project.

On Topic:

You bring up a good point, hopefully it is something that can be looked at.

Devour to survive, so it is, so it's always been Eve is a great game if you can get past all of the asshats....

Glad you asked. I used to work as a paid forum moderator for a very large news aggregation site that makes CCP's forums look tiny. CCP's "12 hours later or never" approach to moderation and keeping threads on topic and in the right places is embarrassing to anyone who's worked as a modmin.

Why have all those areas when everyone just dumps whatever in GD?

I also do it sometimes to find out who is easily annoyed.

Carry on!

So in one post you misunderstood the troll rating system and the strawman fallacy.

I hope your future attempts to fit in around here are more successful.

Anyway, back to grid-fu, apart from loading a busy grid away from direct combat and such (though im sure grid loading issues could be fixed in a rework of these fundamental areas of the game), can anyone defend the behaviour of grids outside of technical arguments.

Would CCP care to say if its possible to improve on the way grids work to reduce these immersion breaking issues?

Well if you are sat still in space and another pilot flies away from you, eventually they will disappear. This can be anywhere from 200-400km ish. When they disappear it is not because they are too far from YOU. Its because they have left the area of space you are in and entered another one, or 'grid'.

You could fly to a location just before where that the other pilot dissipated and join him there. He could once again head off in that direction and would disappear from view like the Mimir did in that video, even if you were a few meters away from him.

Its an artefact of how eve simulates, or tries to simulate vast areas of space but still make the game playable.

Now ive not lived in minmatar low-sec for long so im not familiar with the amamake gate in auga but a grid wall at 100km seems a little close like someone had toyed with it.

This isnt a day-to-day issue for most pilots, or me, but wondered if it may be possible to be looked at or too fundamental to how eve works.

Oh, the irony.

@Crosi Wesdo

Thank you kindly for your explanation, makes way more sense now. Yes, I can see how that would be very....disturbing.
I'll do what I can to try simulate that on Sisi and give the Dev feedback there.

It is used less IMO now in fleet fights due to the change in probing mechanics. There is little advantage to grid-fu'ing a gate to provide for drivebys when the FC's probing alt can land dictors at 0 on the enemy within 10 seconds, for example.

Post with your main.

Unless that is your main.

I pray not.
