How to Uncouple DSCAN From the Solar System Map

When you initially load EVE after the latest update you may notice that your Directional Scanner window is now coupled with a new System Map window. Short of reverting to the old Directional Scanner (still an option), this is how you uncouple it.

1. In the upper right corner of the Directional Scanner window which is embedded in the System Map window (not the System Map window), there is a box that looks like this ▣ (to the immediate left of the ✕ icon).
2. Click that and your DSCAN will now open in a separate window and you can then close the System Map.
3. When uncoupled, by clicking the same ▣ icon again in the Directional Scanner window you can re-couple to the System Map.
.....

*Note: If you've previously hot-linked a key to open the Directional Scanner Window it's currently glitched (you have to open it manually through the HUD).
**Bonus: To disable or minimize the 'submarine' sounds, go to the Audio menu under Settings (ESC key), enable Advanced Audio Settings and turn down the UI Interaction slider.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

I agree, that was really helpful. When the scanner is tied to the map, it shows up everytime you jump into a system; when you uncouple probe and dscan from the map, it no longer does that.

How do I make it more transparent? It seems very dark now.

Pin/unpin. It's the button next to the dock/undock map button.

There's also a setting under general settings to make that a sticky button.

How do you get rid of the sound the dscan does? I'm constantly scanning system and the submarine ping is really annoying.

edit: I'm blind

what else does the UI interaction slider turn off? Sounds like more then just the ping.

But that turns off all UI sounds. It's not a fix, it's a hack.

EDIT: But thx for posting on separating the map from d-scan and also for how to turn off UI sounds. That will be helpful for some people.
