CCP: 5 years ahead??

This game does not really attract the young generation of gamers simply due to the complexity and the unforgiving mechanics of the game. On top of that the game is also not really invitive to the new players. What good does a free trail do if the new players are being treated like crap by key vet players (without intervention by moderators) on the forum and in the game if they have a question/opinion/idea? EVE was and is a niche MMO and in 5 years depending on the fundings of CCP and further development choices it will only be played by the old hard core players and players that are still attached to their pixels in the game. Not CCP will in the end kill the game, but the self entitled vet players that scare of any new blood in the game and don't want any changes in EVE to make the game more attractive for the new generation of players. CCP needs to stop with listening to the old player base and make choices and change course that will make the game a healthy modern game for the next +10 years.

Or CCP needs to keep this EVE going as it is and build a new EVE 2.0 on the side that is up for the battle on the game market for the next +15 years with a game direction that is more appealing for the new generation.

CCP in five years:

  1. CCP Seagull becomes President of Iceland.
  2. They hire a new programmer named CCP Dump and his first action is to build a wall around Delve and make them pay for it.
  3. Station billboards will feature "The whiner of the week show" moderated by CCP Guard. The winner gets a mining permit.
  4. CCP's Permaband wins a Grammy for "Album of the year".
  5. CCP announces that Plex's will become a tradable financial asset at the NYSE as of April 1st, 2021.

Let me guess, making the game more attractive to the new generation of players means gutting it of everything that made it special?

It really depends on the audience they want to target at and the qaultity of the product. Niche or mainstream... or something in between. Do they want to make money or not is the question.

My hope is Logi get's cut or a complete rethink and EWAR gets a complete rethink.

It is my opinion these two elements of the game have indirectly killed the games sandbox.

Probably still here shiptoasting on the forums.

If we play our cards right, we could all be directors flying in to meet about the future of CCP. Like The Edge and even Bono now are directors of Fender Musical Instruments Corp. Home of many great things that Leo Fender cooked up to be both easy to buy (cheap for working musicians) and good. Examples: Telecaster (Pretenders, Stranglers, Syd Barret, all of country music guitar); Stratocaster (SRV, slinky funk, reggae and ska guitarists, Jimi of course, many more). Leo with his rad designs and cheap materials, and employing returning vet guys to craft them up and put cheap auto body finishes on them. The musicians just got them, liked them, and took off doing all kind of different things with them.

The Edge and Bono too, bought onto the board as owners and sitting as directors planning the future of the operation. ::sigh::

Anyway, side derail there. But I suppose any conjecture about CCP's future would need sitting in on the board meetings, neh?

The only thing I hope from CCP is that they move DUST to a platform that isn't at the end of its lifespan and performs poorly for its desired scope. Like, say, the PC. Where it could exist alongside EVE as part of the universe. Right now all DUST does is give a little percentage in faction warfare.

Unfortunately we'll probably just see three more things as poorly construed as DUST's platform of choice fall to the same malaise.

You do know that Dust shut down completely, right?

Where do you see "Goatman NotMyFault" in 5 years time? Will you be desolate as many predict you already are or will "Goatman NotMyFault" make a magical move where they are revived??

My moneys on, "same place he is now"

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

Built by CCP

I cannot see CCP divulging their 5 year plan for the game, you'll just have to read those sparse devblogs that tell you about bug fixes, and the latest ship skin that can be bought for a very short term view on that.

I imagine the intro of citadels and all the surrounding hardware and the removal of POS will be the main thing for the next year at least.

It all depends how well Star Citizen does (if it does launch with a PU that's playable).

EVE will likely respond with integrating a planet landing experience with ground missions.

EVE will likely remain for what it is - largely due to the low PC requirements
for gameplay.

Ridiculous. Eve didn't use to attract "everyone" because we were all different back then. 10 years ago, eve attracted hardcore project gamers who could deal with a bit of a learning curve without a tantrum. Today it attracts the same sort of player, but a little bit less due to all the cotton wool wrapping, hand holding and safety.

Think star citizen will have a minimal effect on EvE in the long run. They may both take place in space but they are so different in almost every other way it's like comparing Call of Duty to DayZ, they both involve guns but that's about where the similarities end.

I will see eve in 5 years on my mobile, as a free app to download for android only, and demanding access to my twitter Pirate

Eve online is :

A) mining simulator B) glorified chatroom C) spreadsheets online

D) CCP Games Pay to Win at skill leveling, with instant gratification

I sit here pondering about consequences of anything and nothing.

Its mighty hard to predict when it is about nothing, as when it is about everything. Because, you know, everything may happen when you do nothing, and nothing may happen when you do anything.

If only CCP would not be so vague...

Somehow I dont think Star Citizen will have a big negative impact on EVE.

I did something stupid and rummaged their forums.

For some reason there is a lot of hate towards EVE.

Just read that:

Quote:
BaconHeadIthorian, 2013

This game is not going to be EVE, period.

YES, there are large ships AVAILABLE. From everything stated by CR and the devs, they are NOT single player ships.

They are not "better" than all other ships in all roles.

They are not "better" at all other ships in combat
.

Because thats how things are in EVE right?Lol
