You want to know what nerfs there were to HS? Removal of standings for POS. Unlimited slots. These looked like buffs, but that is because most people suck at economic reasoning. These two things made it possible for a much greater level of competition and since competition cannot result in much innovation in game (maybe organizational innovation, but not technological innovation) it has simply lead to lower prices and narrower profit margins.

As for nerfs and buffs they have an effect. For example, now using a freighter is a multi-person/multi-account endeavor. That makes hauling in freighters more difficult....more costly. Not in terms of ISK, but that you need 2 or even 3 people/alts means that there are 1-2 less players/alts doing other things in game.

Funny thing is back when there was insurance payouts for ganking...so long as you weren't an idiot your chances of being ganked were virtually nil. Keep the value or your cargo below the 2x the cost of the BS necessary to gank you and you were good. You could autopilot with no problem. But people were dumb and reckless and they got bit in the ass like what happens with you are reckless and imprudent. Now CODE. might just blow up your empty freighter just because. God job ya boobs, you whined and whined and whined, and CCP and CODE. bent you over and went in with no lube. What makes it really hilarious...you don't even know what CCP did to you. Hell, not even sure CCP realizes it yet.

If you're a ganker you're never going to relate to anything a miner says and vice versa. Let CCP balance their game, we are the players.

Not true. I first joined the game and was mining for ISK (I hated missions...and still do). When I started an alt account I had him train for mining initially, then later invention. Alot of the guys I hung with early on were industrialists first and PvPers second. So no, I can relate to miners. And yeah, I have ganked people. Either solo or during the Burn Jita/Amarr events. So I have been on both sides. Thing is many players who are ganked...they are imprudent. In this game you will eventually be punished if you imprudent frequently enough....and that is how it should be.

And I'll go even further. Not punishing imprudent behavior will lead to more imprudent behavior. If you haul and make ISK by taking advantage of price differentials between regions...you should love CODE. Without them and without ganking hauling would become easier...and easier means cheaper and more of it and soon, those price differentials will get smaller and smaller and so will your profits. If you make ISK in this game via arbitrage and want to get rid of ganking you are stupid.

It's not only because of large null groups-- I still remember back when we were trying to learn the game, joining our first corp, then creating our own ... we were wardec'ed. A lot. Like ... constantly.

Many of the group we had kept struggling for a couple of months, then quit. I never saw them again, except for one guy who resubbed 9 months later. Left to my own devices (our CEO had unsubbed and we didn't even know LOL) I took another approach to the matter, thinking to myself "it's probably safer in lowsec because mercs never go there." And off I went. Got in touch with a slightly more experienced group who offered me a home, roams, the who shebang. They were decent people off all walks of life, PvP, industry, missionrunners, cap pilots and newbies.

We didn't have the best of killboards but Aridia and in particular Violent Declaration will always remain a special place for me, my old stomping grounds.

Point is ..... we couldn't grow in highsec. At all. We were easy ganks for anyone from suspectbait, wardeccers, gankers to scammers, griefers, ... Bottom of the pond. It wasn't until I went to lowsec I actually found some room to manoever, and learn, and grow.

Y'all talk about "highsec content" but I still remember what it's like to BE highsec content. Completely out of my mind they thought I was- but I was right: lowsec WAS a safer place for me to be. What you call "content" was nothing but dropping Lokis and Cynabals and Machariels and Phoboses onto people trying to grasp the basics. I'm sure my very first Rupture (which I mined myself by the way) and its T1 guns put up one hell of a fight.

Did you ever consider you might have overfarmed the region? All big talk aside, I've never seen these merc corps interested in "good fights". They wardec the biggest nubs they can find and farm them till they disband. After a while you kinda get it; then they complain the juicy targets (read: more experienced players who've been around the block a few times) drop corp. Let's be honest here: you never wanted a fight. You wanted a killmail.

You don't see large highsec corps because yes, you kill them before they grow.

This is pretty much how it has always been. First time I found a few guys (8.5 years ago) we went off to mine together figuring it was more fun that doing it alone. Then one of the guys went for a can flipper and had to get ransomed...and we decided lets form our own corporation (Why? I don't know, looking back not sure I see any benefit to that action). Then we got decced...and decced and decced. Finally we joined up with a larger group of industrialists and we got decced again. We did try fighting back in one instance and they were in T2 ships while many of us were in T1 ships. Finally got a chance to go to NS and went. I had an alt I was using to make ISK in HS, but still it was punctuated with war decs, but this time around many of us kept a much lower profile.

Edit:

Just read this thread.

What is hilarious is reading the posts by those who are HS war deccers and the OP. So, the change to the watchlist has made deccing people harder. Harder in that without the old watchlist you cannot know who is online and who to run locator agents on. So alot of people who do war decs just sit and wait to see what comes through the more heavily traveled systems...which is what the OP did...knowingly. And yet, there is the OP whining and crying and complaining about the awfulness of war decs. He didn't come right out and ask for a nerf...but give a few weeks and I'm sure he'll want "just one more nerf."

I have read the comments carefully here and it seems that we are being carefully pushed into working with other pilots, freighters have become too dangerous to fly? tough...join a corp that can provide a solid escort. Can't gank a miner easily? tough...find more people to help you.

The comments about moving to low sec to get less hassle are interesting, what is also interesting is that gankers don't really go there. Living in an area of space like Stain where I live I have found the lawless nature of it helpful, every few hours the neutrals who pass by are potential gankers so I take evasive action. they never hang for too long, when they're gone I go back to whatever i was doing PVE.

I am doing a venture where people come and live in Stain in a blue community with me to enjoy all aspects of Eve, what suprises me is that no one has joined. Everyone has a similar view that you can't grow in hi sec so I figure why not try to grow in Stain where you will get less bother?

I noticed very quickly the direction hi sec was going in a long time ago and got myself out, I do the occasional loot run to jita in a cloaky hauler but that's it really.

Gankers, Miners, pacifists try to expand your game a bit, do things out of the norm (like joining my NPC Null sec venture) talk to other people and get a different perspective, I'm telling you, serious epic adventure awaits that will have you on the edge of your seat.

Remember, It will also be hard to find out if the deccing corp is online. the watchlist change is 50/50 imo.

War deccing will invole more work, the deccers will have to get in npc corp alts and scout their targets, At the same time the corp being war decced will have to have their own scouts and keep a lookout.

There is that. I used the watchlist when I had characters in HS and found it very useful. Nobody online, great do stuff. Oh, there is one of the guys now...time to take necessary precautions. So that is a fair point.

Maybe this can be something the OA can do. Allow some sort of watchlist-like functionality for a given area of space....The bad guys can anchor one as can the good guys.

People will just have to scout and report back to their friends while pve/mining ops are underway, they can get safe when the enemy is nearby. Like I said earlier we are being carefully manipulated into working with other pilots. I think we should just go along with it and see where it goes. I must say though, the watchlist being turned off does add an element of realism to the game, I like it.

Edit: It seems intel is the key now, perhaps the watchlist change will bring about intel corps who track gankers movements and report it. I think if you analyse the design of the game changes beyond the obvious point you'll find some interesting things.

Scouting is kind of hard in HS. There are systems with lots of stations and/or lots of people. It is basically just blundering around hoping you find something and can hold the target there or follow him until the rest of the fleet can get there. Same goes for intel corporations. They'll have no better luck finding stuff than the corps doing the war decs. Unless the intel corp inserts a spy into the potential target corporation. That might work. But then, corporations doing war decs can use this too. You get hired to dec XYZ, so you send Allty McKillblues to XYZ and apply for membership. Get in corp and then start reporting on where people are and when they are online...you could even try to use the watchlist. After all you are one big happy HS indy corp right?

My summary is that many of you want things to be perfectly to your liking, you're all too set in your ways and will never try something different, this applies to miners, haulers and gankers. Come out of your comfort zone. You guys give the designers a headache.
