Broadcast For Reps (Talk to someone before you hurt yourself)

This probably isn't the right place to post this, but it is as I see an issue that keeps coming up and bothering me.

I joined the EVE community like 3.5 years ago. First two hours where ****. Could not for the life of me figure out how to fly. Went to bed and tried the game again and have not joined any other MMO since.

What bothers me is this - I have come to love New Eden, even the ball busting *****es who cloaky camp my ratting/mining systems for weeks. Yet, when I and many others go to the F&I to post ideas we have on making the whole of New Eden better, there are a handful of trolls, whom in my opinion, nearly never provide any constructive feedback to the OP of the thread. Instead they choose to rip the OPs thoughts apart and for lack of words **** on the OP.
To me, the harshest place in all of New Eden isn't in the game, it is in the Player F&I. I know that not every idea is full proof, it never is (we have Fozzie SOV as a perfect example.). Yet out of all the places I would expect the strictest enforcement of common courtesy in EVE, I witness a hive of hate and hostilities.
It seems that I have a continued wish to be **** on by these people and keep going back; yet, I feel I have ideas that need to be presented to CCP.
What I fear the most is this. Every time I find s post by a new player or someone lacking in English skills, these trolls role in and destroy any hopeful feelings.

I am making a shout out; not just for myself that wants to see New Eden grow and last another decade, but I am calling for reps on our brothers and sisters who attempt to provide their ideas in a forum polluted by hostile carbon based filth.

You put the idea out for public consideration. If you cannot handle criticism of your ideas, then perhaps you should keep in mind that not everyone is going to agree with you. Most of us who spend our forum time in F&I have a deep love for the dark abyss that is EvE, and wish it to stay that way.

In a vast majority of cases, those people who get their posts "**** on" would have been better served going a few pages back into the forum history and finding their answers in the last dozen threads identical to theirs. How many times must we be subjected to the same rehashed ideas, vomited out as the greatest thing in the world? Honestly, ISD needs a couple members solely for F&I. Members who, like those of us who spend a large amount of time there, can quickly spot and lock redundant threads. This would reduce a large amount of the trolling.

In the greater portion of remaining instances, the cause is because the idea is contrary to that which is EvE. There are several other games available if someone wants a warm, fuzzy game experience. On the other hand, EvE is the only game of its kind. Personally, I play EvE because what I do actually matters, even if it's only in a miniscule way. I fully realize that I can lose everything I've worked for with a single mistake. In fact, I have done so several times. Some of the greatest vitriol goes to those threads where the OP is trying to get CCP to reduce the risk to their profession rather than take it upon themselves to reduce said risk. Usually, this request for CCP to buff their play style is by asking for nerfs to someone else's play style.

Yes, in most cases I disagree with you. No, I'm not always nice about it. Even with this, I realize you're a fellow human, not a ***** or filth. You decry the way some are treated in F&I, then come here and act the same way. We have a term for people who do that, which I'm sure you're able to find with Google.

Lastly, if you think someone has gone too far, report the post. This is ISD's job, after all.

I want to thank Coffee Rocks and everyone else involved in Broadcast4reps for being a support to the capsuleers who need a listening ear and shoulder to lean on. I admire that the Eve community has pulled together to emphasize the importance of being there for one another despite everyone's game play.

This is something very real for me. The past year I took partial leave from Eve to focus on the emotional and mental health of my daughter who suffered from depression, self harm, and suicide. Was a rough time but I can say we both came out of it survivors and with hope for a better tomorrow. I've also battled depression, addictions, and suicidal thoughts over the past 12 yrs so this was a harsh awakening for me to see someone I love suffer through the same nightmare.

The support I got from family, community, and space friends was crucial to my survival during some dark times, for this I am grateful. It has now become my RL mission to help others, so if I can support this cause in any way.. just let me know.

I cried when the video came up as suicide. Cause I struggle everyday
with Schizophria and it's really hard to make social connections and feel
any pitty, I also have crippling depression from this mental illness.

I was in mental hostipals many times to deal with this disease. My fellow
space capsuleer's it is without a doubt the best action that can be taken
to prevent suicide is the making of awarness.

Thank you for all the patience and virtue that come's in helping another
person.

I have to say something... I ask that if it has not already been done that someone immediately make an api exception too the broadcast4reps channel. Nobody should ever be recorded by their alliance or corp as having been or said anything in that channel. That place must be a safe sacred space. Thank you.

I'm currently working with a RL friend who is having a hugely difficult time with her own anxiety and history of abuse, whilst her 10 year old is now having severe troubles with her own depression and self worth.

So far, I have never heard of any corp or alliance ever looking into a member's chat logs in the channels. I would encourage you to submit this suggestion to CCP Karkur's "Little Things" thread.

If anyone is ever worried about in-game shenanigans in the public channel, you can always ask to speak to someone 1v1 or go out of game to our Discord channel.

I have struggled with depression and a Bi-Polar disorder for years... I even named a corp in "honour" of the condition..

this is an utterly epic idea.

I appreciate the support and for sharing your struggles! When more people like ourselves open up and talk about mental illness, depression, and suicide we help strip more of the stigma away and make it easier for our brothers and sisters to come forward when they need help.

We exist because of the passion of our volunteers, and I'm never not amazed by how much our gaming community, the vast majority being EVE players, give their time and headspace to helping out. And everyone helps out in different ways depending on their time available, talents, and drive. The most obvious is hanging out in the ingame channel "Broadcast4Reps" and in our Discord server ( https://discord.gg/0cnYsRRYYg3QtoTM ), and just chatting with fellow players.

Naturally, some capsuleers come up with unique ideas for spreading awareness, raising RL money towards our nonprofit or other charities such as Care 4 Kids or PLEX 4 Good, or even want to lend their RL talents to managing B4R and Spam 4 Heals (the RL nonprofit that umbrellas the B4R program these days). If you or anyone reading this is interested or has an idea they wish to pitch, put a rough outline together of what you wanna do and send it to info@s4heals.org. o7

Iain! I've even made post about ideas to clean up the F&I. so there isn't as much redundant and vomited up ideas. Those seem to have fallen on deaf ears. I would love to see the forums get overhaul and when ppl are making a post, they have to tag key-words. and if their keywords match up. and moves them into a "discussion thread for that idea"
