+1 Big smile

I may play a vindictive b**** and pirate in game, but I am a mother and caring human being with rl issues and dificulties like everyone else. This topic hits home with me through personal experience on a few occasions..one very recently. I'm in the channels if anyone just needs an ear...or if I, myself, need one. Pirate

Coffee...if you need any help with anything, let me know.

If I had a nickel for every time someone said women don't play eve, I'd have a bag of nickels to whack the next person who said it..

*Snipped* removed Quote of a deleted Post. * Snip* ~ISD Buldath

You are talking about actions in a game. A game about conflict, turmoil, and risk. Like with any game, there is a "winner" and a "loser". Some people are poor sports when they lose..and likewise, some are when they win. You cannot, and should not, compare actions in a game to rl. Eve is a fantasy spaceship game where noone truly loses anything but virtual pixels. Rl is something completely different. Sure, some people play the "bad guy"..or the "scum bag"..or the "pirate". I am one of them. But my actions in this game are not a reflection of my rl personality nor what I believe or do in rl. To assume it is for people is just plain wrong. Don't get me wrong..there are always "those ones"..but you are generalizing and your generization is inaccurate. You make the comparison "ts like a murderer doing a video saying dont murder people. How dare you even defend this.. people who defend it are just as bad as the people doing it. Therefore that is you and explains everything that is wrong with thoa community" ...how is that even a relevant comparison? ...There is no murder here. Murder is a rl problem..not a game issue...and noone in this game is a murderer for shooting pixels or talking smack in a game to demoralize an opponant. What is wrong with the community is that so many have a problem differentiating between fantasy and reality..and sepparating rl actions from those in a game..which have zero relevance in any way.

This inititive is a good thing. We are here to help people who need an ear..or a friend. If that doesn't say how people really are, I'm afraid nothing will change your one sided opinion of what you percieve as fact. Nothing personal, but you have it all wrong. If you have a history of finding the "bad seeds"..maybe you should join this initiative and start dealing with a different type of people.

I am actually appaled that you would have the gall to voice such a negative opinion of something so good because you fail to see what things really are and choose to live by what you "see" as fact. If you just want to be a troll..then you are no better than the people you have accused of being the "bad guys". Take the time to search for the truth..you may be pleasantly surprised..IF you are truly willing to put aside your current perceptions and open you mind, eyes, and ears. Blink

I'm really glad this thread and this channel exist.

I was somewhat inoculated from hurting myself when my best friend killed himself about 10 years ago. Understanding the hurt that causes really helped me get a grip on things.

I'm not a doctor, and I'm not qualified to help anyone at all. I struggle with depression myself. I am almost certainly not in a position to help anyone.

But I'm willing to listen to anyone at any time.

We don't have to be completely alone with our struggles. We can be better to ourselves together
than we tend to be when alone.

I honestly feel like I just read fifty shades of dumb. --CCP Falcon

A question,
It is often said that a Stuck petition is the best way to report an immediate threat of self-harm, however I don't know how to do this in-game. Logically one might be in game when one's character is stuck (as with other MMOs that allow /stuck), and certainly when seeing someone talking publicly or chatting privately in game.

On the support website it very clearly gives a second category of Stuck, but in-game I only know of the bug report form, which doesn't give Stuck or any choice of any second category.

Basically if this is only an out of game reporting feature, and only ever will be possible out of game going forward, I think that should be crystal clear along with mentions of using the petition for this purpose. :)

One of the things that led me to post this question is the locked Evelopedia page which states:
"...then you can make a petition in-game, using the stuck category..."
https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Stuck_character
Hopefully a GM/ISD can tidy it up.

Do not actively tank my patience.

I think 'offensive behaviour and harassment' is also a high-priority category.

Are petitions/support tickets no longer in the F12 menu? You mentioned the bug report feature but that's a different thing?

That disappeared earlier this year when CCP switched to Zendesk for their support system IIRC, it's certainly not present in the current f12 menu. You can view petitions from the escape menu, but I don't think there's currently a way to raise them from within the client.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

The EVE community helped me get over some very tough times, times where nothing was really wrong, but my mind hated/hates me. I received overwhelming support from my corpies, and driven to tears by their kindness. I was not aware of this B4R, and it might not have been there, these troubles started many years ago, and i went without treatment for a very long time just thinking that i should HTFU, Man up, and other overly macho crap.

It is no shame to ask for help, and i see it as no shame to weep with relief or frustration when your own mind is your enemy and your tank is breaking. As soon as I'm no longer homeless I'll be rejoining my corp if they'll have me, and i will certainly be haunting B4R, because even those on crutches can offer a shoulder to lean on.

Use the force without consent and the court wont acquit you even if you are a card carryin', robe wearin' Jedi.

This is correct. In the event you have a player that any reasonable person knows to be imminent danger of hurting themselves or others, file a ticket with the "Stuck Character" category, with the words "suicidal player" in the heading (or whatever is relative). CCP's system will flag it.

I've passed it up through CSM for something more clear to use and debated it over on the other F&I forum, so we'll see if CCP comes up with a better way. For now, yes, this is the correct procedure.

I'll add it to my ever growing 'to-do' list to do a quick "how to" and throw it up on my site.

Unfortunately, a very jarring statistic that I'm too aware of (comes with the territory). If you're a veteran, reservist or active duty, don't forget there is also the channel "Best of Us" (see OP) created by, and for, military like us.

As more of our brother and sisters return home to find broken promises, we need to carry our battle buddies a little while longer until they can get on their feet and get the help they need. If you need help with VA, want to vent - ANYTHING - those guys at Best of Us are outstanding.

I am actually appalled and disgusted at this video. CCP promotes bullying, and quite frankly nasty behaviour, many players in eve are all about making peoples lives a misery, and your so called community thinks this is cool and funny, especially when people get emotionally upset. All you lot say is HTFU or this is eve etc etc. Eve community is a collection of probably the worse type of people in gaming, sorry it is.

Im shocked that people like Elise Randolph are even on this video, when in fact as one of the leader of PL, which is probably the worst place for treating people like utter sh*t, and bullying people.

You as a community as the people that cause distress, hurt and more to these gamers, and you come out with a video like this (cringeworthy) as it is. CCP are bad enough for promoting this behaviour because for some reason its cool! its not cool at all.

How do you know how many people you have emotionally affected, how do you know that they haven't committed suicide? You only know of people who are known in the game, but what about all those people you have scammed, or bullied ingame, that are unknowns? What may have happened to them...
There is no great community in eve its just full of people that want to inflict as much crap on someone as they can.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves especially CCP for promoting such behaviour, it makes me sick, especially the people in this video because your the ones causing the problems!!!. rant over..!

Eve is a game let's not forget it, it can be a useful simulation, it may help you deal with minor obstacles, even social anxiety or alienation if you let it/us. This is because Eve obstacles are minor ones, really, compared to the RL issues with which we might have to contend: death, divorce, poor health or redundancy. But and this is the kicker, with the support of your corp or the many communities out there available to help you reship, talk or what have you, you can do this, we can do it together - it's not too much to bare. This video was very moving to me, it reminded me that our community is pretty amazing, of the many of you who have been there for me, the way I hope to be there for you if you ever need me. Thanks

Playing Eve for seven years, the trick is to find the right community for YOU!

Thank you all so much for helping people out both in our community and in rl. It really does make a huge difference to have a friendly non judgemental ear to just vent to and get things off your chest.

I was going through a really really rough patch the other day, and one of my corpies stayed up all night talking with me. I honestly don't think I would be here right now if he didn't show me that kindness. I can't even put into words how thats feels knowing that a friend who've I've never met in rl would do that for me.

Thank you again and have a safe and merry Christmas!

It can seem that way at times, but I've also had moments of kindness that still make me smile to this day. A corp mate who replaced my Domi after I'd screwed up running a mission, or the guy who I struck up a conversation with in the middle of Null and he ended up giving me 500 million ISk because I was down on my Eve-luck. People can be beneficent, but you can't expect that from most people because the whole point of Eve is to PvP. As many a person has mentioned before, you need to find a play style thatt brings you the most fun/joy/happiness, and accept that other people's happy place will result in the occasional loss of a ship.

Personally I've got to deal with my own avoident personality disorder, which can make every jump in low/null a fun ball of anxiety because part of me is going "Oh, god! Gatecamp! Danger! Bad idea! Bad idea!", which is juxtaposed against turning over various exploration sites in order to find the shiny. I have my methods, but even so there's times I need to step away entirely and wait for my emotions not to be so detrimental to my emotional state.
