I direct you to my original post. I see a lot of posts here crying that CCP are holding out or not communicating to their players, yet CCP only announced the beta two weeks ago and I believe they do more than most with their regular dev blogs.

Ahhhh got it. I missed that post, everything you said makes a lot more sense now. Fair point.

I don't really sense an air of anger or hostility in the thread though, more like just excited anticipation.

This is far more like being a kid at Christmas and not being able to wait to open you presents, than it is the angry pitchfork WTF mob that formed up following Incarna.

Dear Capsuleers,

Thank you for your interest regarding the DUST 514 Mordus’s Private Trials registration. I would like to take this opportunity to address some of the concerns raised in this thread.

With regards to the MPT availability, currently it is available In English for English speaking regions. So, if English is the official language in your country, you should be able to access DUST 514 Mordu’s Private Trials from the local PSN store in your area. We are, of course, working on localizing the client so that it becomes available in more regions for the Official Launch. So to recount, the DUST 514 Mordu's Private Trials will be in English only for English speaking regions, and our plan is to have localization for the following languages by Official Launch: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Japanese.

And remember, the DUST 514 Mordu’s Private Trials is still in the registration phase, and that is open to all EVE Online players.

With regards to the DUST 514 Mordu’s Private Trials registration confirmation issue, we will be adding a status page to the EVE Online account management page for those who have signed up to participate in the DUST 514 Mordu’s Private Trials, so you can keep tabs on the status of your registration.

Thank you for your patience and continued support.

So that means that Australia is going to be able to get in the private trials?

Cool

Also, is the status page live yet? I can't see it anywhere.

First of all thanks for answering somehow, even if...... did you anser any of our questions? Roll

Prolly I'm more confused than before. You talked about regional issues with the language, saying only "English speaking regions" will be allowed to play. So, if I'm not wrong these "regions" (not existing anymore since the colonialist era), are now these nations: Canda, USA, England, Ireland, South Africa, Australia (+ some sparse island in the middle of nothing somewhere). Note that Iceland shouldn't belong to any "english speaking region" I'm aware of.

So, this is how I interpret your message: "If your not living in one of the named english speaking _nations_ you won't be allowed in the beta". Otherwise since we EVE players are from all over the world and 90% of us is playing on a english client already, why all that troubles for the beta to be localized? Is it all because of sony/PSN restrictions? Guess so

Most of all, you didn't give us any time margin, not even the most vague and faint. How's that? Don't you have the lightest idea about how long will it take? That's me just guessing but anyway I've got the message: I'll be out from this beta, thanks.

Thanks for the heads up Commander Wang.

Getting into the beta will make right all ails, heal the lame, and cure the blind. But for those ps3 only people: Are there more devblogs in the works?

Also, where is this Status page? I checked the old https://secure.eveonline.com/mpt and only come to the registration page. If its not live yet, can we get clarification on that?

Thanks

He did say "we will be adding a status page". Just a couple hours ago. Big smile give them a couple hours/days to finish up the page.

When the page exists then we know some luck people have access.

If i dont know something about EVE. I check https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/ISK_The_Guide

We are working on creating the status page and it should be up and running soon. And yes, there will be more dev blogs coming. :)

What the hell is that announcement !!!?

So living in France is a deal breaker even when understanding, speaking or writing in english is not a problem ?!

And, as i understand that localization wont be complete until the game's release, this means that even when the beta is gonna be open to PS3 only players, it will only be for English people.... Roll

No need to say that i m quite pissed reading this 1h after waking up.... As usual, the same ones gets it all.... Evil

I think he is saying that if you select Engilish on the PS3 you have access but if you select any other language there will not be any links or access.

So, is it region based as in SCEE, SCEA etc.... ?
Or country based as in England, Ireland, Wales, US, Canada ?

And what is that "you should be able to acces DUST 514 MPT" ?
Does that mean that you wont need any code to get acces to the beta ? It will be open to anyone living in an official English Country ?

Very clear update.

EDIT: Damn, i dont usually get that upset about Beta testing or VideoGames in general... But this one ! I just can't accept having no chance of being part of it just because i dont live in the right country.

The information regarding the private trials has just been poor all together.

Better off with a very full explanatory dev blog before the registration one went out.

PL is here trolling as always (I hope.... lol that would be pretty stupid like PL otherwise)

What the GM means is that the beta is focusing on their prime demographic which is english speaking countries. Why not english speaking players? well that is complicated but I will go ahead and break it down so no one bitches about this again.

A english speaking country will have a predominant amount of it's citizens speaking english as a primary language. HOWEVER a non english speaking country can still have english speakers in it. For example, lets take some random eastern european country, or middle eastern country, they may have a few english speaking people, but that does not mean the country is worth targeting if they are looking for a LARGE amount of english speakers.

You see, each country has different laws which often require each country (region) to have a separate digital store. Why may you say this? well it is because if a country like Australia decides to ban my little pony funtime adventure for "being too violent" sony can just remove that game from their SPECIAL STORE just for Australia rather than having to do complex region filters, or not have it in the store at all for the world (lol why would they ever do the latter). Lets not forget for non english speaking countries, games offered in the store will also be in their native language.

THIS IS WHY THERE ARE REGION LIMITS!!!!11!11!!!!!!11

~edit: Also thank that facking dev, commander wang not only has an awesome name, but at least he (or his superiors ordering him to) were nice enough to give us the information they did. If you still want to *****, you can go play WoW or any other MMO that has NO dev blogs and LITTLE dev-community interaction. What it comes down to is the more a game developer tells the gamers, the more the gamers complain about the devs not giving enough. In all honesty this is a choice that they made to either try and keep their customers happy and possibly raise profits, OR they love their work so much they love boasting about it (which is perfectly fine too if they do good work)

Thub, i really dislike your patronizing tone... I think everyone here understands CCP's need to have players in the beta who are able to :
- Understand the game as it will be in English only during the beta
- Provide usefull feedback in English as well.

But as you said, you can find English speaking players all around the world. The EVE player base is the perfect exemple of it.

Me, I ve been waiting this game for a looooooong time now. Translating all articles and Devblog about it to make the informations on it available to the non so lucky french players that can't follow when it's in english.
And obviously, waiting eagerly for the beta to start.

Then, i first learned that part one of it would be for EVE players only. Even if it is frustrating, it seems kinda logical. They are the best suited to give the first feedback as they re supposed to know the universe like their own pockets and would provide feedback much more relevant than a common PS3 user.
So be it, i suscribed a month of EVE just to register for MPT and discover EVE universe at the same time.

Then, as it has already been said, the beta will be open to a certain amount of PS3 only players wich i really want to be part of.
And today, i learn that i may not have the slightest chance.... So it is not so much about bitc**** than it is about being disappointed...
Besides, I remember some beta testing where you had to fill out a form, explain why you wanted to be part of it, your past experience in same types of games etc....
With that kind of selection Devs can have exactly what they want : Players who master English, who are genuinely interested in the game and not just by the "i played it first" feeling.... And more importantly, players that will be usefull...

Also, is it fair if the beta is at a time open for all PS3 users of English Speaking countries ? (with no need to have an acces key or something like that) Those players will have a massive advantage when the game comes out.
And as it is ALWAYS the same people, it is getting really annoying.

Besides, i bet you're citizen in one of those lucky English Speaking countries.... No problem for you right ? So the others can go scr** themselves ?

Nice..

If CCP ignores non engish speaking communities ,it will create frustration and anger for those who have been waiting dust for so long now.
You made this choice maybe to reduce test server load or i don't know.But in the end it might be the wrong choice.

Alright, let me help clear up the waters.

According to the conditions on the sign up page, it says anyone in those areas is welcome to sign up. HOWEVER, it also states that the Private Trial will be conducted in English. Basically, as long as you're in one of those areas and you can understand English, you should be able to get in.

I hope I this helps, the information is a little out of date but I believe it is still relevant. On occasion PSN beta members are recruited through the Playstation forums, the following criteria has in the past been specified, again this information is a little bit out of date I will try to get more up to date info and feed it back here.

  • Aged 18 or over;
  • Able to read and give feedback in English as the Beta Trials are in English only;
  • A European resident;
  • Owner of a PLAYSTATION®3 or PlayStation®Portable with a broadband internet connection and a European PLAYSTATION®Network master account;
  • Allready a member of our Official PLAYSTATION® Forums;

Obviously this is not geared towards Dust beta but more a generic PSN recruitment requirement and I only have access to the EU forums not the US which are separate.
