I'm curious to know who it is at CCP that is so damn determined to destroy exploration? It seems that has been an objective for some time now.
I won't be logging in again until I read that this has been rolled back because the new scanning map F9 is so tedious and bloated with fancy colors and useless crap it is completely unusable to me.

About scanning interface.
Just add hotkeys to old interface. Thats all, will be great.
But no, new scaning kill all impressions.
Oh, d-scan visualisation is nice. But againg, just add new d-scan on old map.
Now i switch off new features and live without funny hotkeys Sad
Great job.

Just logged in, decided to run a few anomalies. Open the probe scanning window and find a mess. The coloring and underlining of each site is really bad to look at. The old coloring scheme was much easier to read and so much more pleasing to the eye. I am hoping for a rollback to the old color scheme or at least some options to mess with so we can make it look the way we like.

On the positive side I freaking LOVE the new dynamic music override. Jump fatigue changes and directional scan visualization are really nice changes too.

As you are messing with the probing stuff again, I want to suggest another small tweak I have suggested in the past. Remove the word Cosmic from Signatures and Anomalies, It just wastes space the name column in the probe scanner window.

I would like to chime in that I use my ship mods a lot while probing with the old full screen map, you really should add an option to allow our ship controls to show over the full screen map.

You should give us toggle box for displaying anomalies that is directly on the window, not hidden in a menu.

Same for the option to lock the map to your camera angle, there should be a way to change that much faster, it make no sense to have a menu that opens up for one option.

The map title bar options being unmovable is a major annoyance. We have so many controls and windows we are always trying to find space for, the last thing eve needs is more unmoveable controls.

My feedback: I really like the new D-scan and Probe scanner, but the system map in fullscreen covers up all of the UI elements.

Revert to green/red backgrounds on probe scanner window (anomalies/signatures). Atm those thin lines are terribly confusing.

It's very difficult to move probes when scanning - arrowed cubes are too small.

The new probescanning.

As a wormholer, probing is my life. The new system has lots of potential and I like it in general, but needs some more tweaking. After trying it for a couple of hours yesterday, here's what I think needs some more love.

(Some of the things i've already seen posted but i'll just post them again cause they are what i've found Big smile )

  • On the probe window, I prefered the colored background on the signatures instead of the colored bar at the bottom that we have now. I often get several signatures in one scan, a couple of gas sites for exemple that are close together. I don't want to scan those out to 100%, I just want to know what they are and then forget about them. Currently, it's a lot harder then it was to identify wich sigs you've got (are not red) and then ignore them.

  • On the map, some signatures now have a dot AND a bubble. I found this confusing, even though its a very small dot compared to sigs you have pinned down futher. The dot suggest you have a general idea of where the sig is. The bubble means you need to scan a wider area. With both at the same time you get conflicting feedback.

  • The hitboxes on the probe controls for moving and resizing are to small, they are smaller then the actual arrow and cube! Mousing over, and clicking the arrow doesn't always select the arrow. Turning off probes on the map helped, but the hitboxes were still to small for me. I had trouble grabbing them so moving and resizing probes took me longer then i'd like.

  • When I select a couple of signatures from the probe window and then ignore them, the remaining signatures disappear from the map. I have to manually select all signatures in the probe window to make them appear on the map again. It would be nice if this was done automatically.

Click and drag on the blue sphere to resize probes is not working properly, and often flat out doesn't.
Old System - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkPohxMoYTI
New System - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQHtKE95VeE

Planet/Gate/Moon/Station icons still take preference over the icon for moving the probes. Leading to attempts to move the probes to fail. This is especially bad with the new system, because the new Planet/Gate/Moon/Station icons have a much larger hitbox than their graphic would suggest.
Old System - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKbZkLXPniw
New System - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmfh4i3hty8

When selecting a gate or planet/moon on your overview, or in space, the old system selected the object in the map as well. This let you quickly identify and orientate yourself while combat probing, and knowing where to put the probes on the map. Especially useful for quickly placing probes on where a hostile warped to.
Old System - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyCGElce_nw
New System - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEujqHHi6N0

These are three BIG issues I ran into while running prober for a gang, and caused me to take a lot longer to get probes on target than the previous probe system.

Of smaller note, it's much harder to see Red results in space, with the icon being silly small and dark. Especially amongst the red sphere of D-Scan.

This video (along with the others that you posted) illustrate the problem perfectly. +1 to this. I said the same previously; moving probes should be very accurate and fast to be at all usable.

Yes, I agree. The icons sigantures and icons on the solar system map are not good at all as I also mentioned previously.

Scanning

As is stands now there is too much clutter and laggyness to the new scanner. Moving and re-sizing the probes is very clunky. The visual representation of the probes in space is neat and all but by making them selectable objects just gets in the way when moving the probe cluster. It also seems that the margin for error in selecting the probe sphere in order to re-size the probes cluster is smaller. The addition of shortcuts for re-sizing is probably nice but I'd like to not have to use them as the previous method worked just fine for me for a number of years.

In short the task of moving and re-sizing probes has taken a sever hit in this latest version. Also it would be nice if your d-scan sphere/cone was not red. It gets confused as a sig. Perhaps orange or purple, a color that isn't already used in the scanner?

What the heck happened with entosing nodes? All the timers are suddenly two times longer by default... IIRC this wasn't the intention of this change - the idea was that if attacker doesn't show up, nodes slowly tick towards the defender. This was meant to be something against troll sov wanding.

Now even when attackers are there immediately, nodes regenerate so fast that the timers are incredibly painful to take. Maybe I haven't been reading the discussions lately but this change isn't what it was supposed to be...

It was absolutely horrible and needs to be fixed ASAP! Nobody should be able to stay docked and still put time on the nodes.

Possible fixes:

- regen starts on uncontested nodes at next downtime
- defender needs to cycle once on each node to start the regen
- remove it completely, this design only caters to lazy defenders

1/ Please can d-scan transparent circle NOT be red like cosmic sigs are red?

2/ please can we have d-scan open without transparent red circle?

3/ please can all remaining cosmic sigs remain showing in probe scanner and space after one has been fully scanned (having to ctrl A now to see them again). This is retrograde.

4/ Having to click twice to launch my current formation of probes, this is retrograde too.

5/ The separate screen/solar system map is impossible, you have to chose between seeing all your windows open or having a max map screen . if you do that you can not see; ds, local overview, chat and modules in view. Its been 1/2 hour its driving me crazy

Thank you.

Sul.

One more thing I would add. Dragging the probes/box around is TOO slow.

Why have a skin for the ship, like the police comet, if its not named police comet in space? Same goes for every skin. Makes skins kind of pointless doesnt it?

This PLEASE !
Add to it :
1) The new probe scanner window is really too dark and doesn't follow the transparency settings of the other windows.
2) The new solar system map needs to minimize when we double click on the top of it like the other windows ! Give it the Pin/Minimize options too.

That's just basic considerations because I don't even test the probing part yet... But it is still very important.
