Same regurgitated thread every other month since 2003.

Wat?™

Everybody who plays Eve already has the the means and opportunity to affect other players, the fact that people choose not to use those means and opportunities is neither here nor there.

Quote:
EVE should be an awesome game no matter how you play it. Shooting brainless NPCs or shooting players should both end up with the possibility to "enable" and "generate" content for other players.
Eve can be an awesome game no matter how you play, if you're prepared to put in the effort to make it awesome.

Content is already being enabled and generated by both PvE and PvP, that you may not like the content doesn't change that.

"But, but... the water is there! Why the horses don't drink it?"

CCP: "Mkay, let's lead them horses to the water..."
Players: "F*** the horses, if they don't drink the water, we don't need them!"
Horses: "What an awful water, let's go drink elsewhere"

Not exactly what you expect from a healthy business where horses are 80% of all new customers and 50% of the current customer base.

(In case that you have trouble with analogy, when the tools are there and players ignore them, that's CCP's problem as developer of the tools, not the players' as users. They can go play something else, but CCP can't find other players that easily; not after 12 years cutting through the same niche. CCP should start developing tools based on what players do -i.e., solohighsecPvE and quit-, not on what CCP wishes they did -i.e. gangnosecpewpew and stay)

Oh and PVP needs PVE otherwise they will never be able to find certain drops that are specific to PVE.
But saying PVE needs PVP is laughable, i could make my own ammo, my own ship, my own whatever and still PVE without you.

You misunderstand.

PvE needs PvP, in the sense that all PvE needs to include player competition and conflict (PvP).
PvP can take many forms, only one of which is combat.

A) Because EVE is fundamentally a PvP environment.
B) Because PvE without player competition and conflict will inevitably become tedious and boring.
Players are dynamic, produce content and are the key to implementing risk/competition and conflict.

players tend to dynamically dock up at local spikes.

i don't know why they're so content avoidant and it's creating a toxic environemt for the game.

(it's different when i do it tho)

Stop lying, it peaked at 34k.

And that's still bad lol. I remember not too long ago a time when even weekdays were peaking over 40k.

Imagine EvE without PvP in PvE, week of playing and uninstall, would be really boring.

I flexed my Paint skills to draw a diagram of how I see it:

As you will note, the reticles of PvE activity in green, are permeated by the red of the environments PvP.
Though PvE in nature, they constitute targets for PvP and are superficial floating arenas of PvP.
(The list is not comprehensive)

As you will also note, PvP entails competition, conflict and interaction (of which combat is only one form).

Oh, I am so sorry I did not spend my holiday weekend wrapped around an archaic game monitoring the people online. I guess some people are so fanatically addicted to this game that Eve takes precedence over every other possibility.

I'll try and drink more kool-aid next time.

What's bad about that? All mmo's are down in activity right now. A lot of people out of work or taking cuts to their pay, and you want to lord over us the results of peoples financial problems so to change the game in some way no one wants because it's somehow specifically EVE is Dying™ and nothing else?

My Nephew just shut down his mmo subscription he had ongoing for ten years in another game, can't even afford internet now after the company he worked for tanked recently. He cant find work. I have neighbors that haven't worked in a long time, get food from the local church, but they use to have jobs they worked for years and years. Times are ****** up. Some people do w/o things just to pay a month sub here, don't have time to isk farm for PLEX as they work their fingers to the bone to pay bills. Then what time they have off don't want to play the crap quality of f2p's that just suck beyond reason and grind far more time hoping you will sell your children off to them. Just be happy you can afford a sub or have the time to grind for PLEX with an internet connection, quit worrying about other people and what they are doing, or are forced to do.

i agree the mmorpg paying base is a problem those days. There are more and more mmorpg every year. So people can choice now. Back then there was only 1 mmorpg space game. Yep eve online and thats it. Now there are more (not the same) but the faster quik arcade game. People want fast games. Arcade style is back like in the 80. Slow progress games like the 90 are out again. And so on.

Using two significant digits, that makes it 35k. P

You know if you tattooed "I'm dying" on your forehead eventually you'll be right, but the huge part between now and then would be dead boring (pun slightly intended) for You as the rest of us get on wit living

Yay! You got a spike, on a US holiday, where no one had school, no one had work and half of their country was under some kind of weather advisory.

But it looks like a sword, not a healthy number. Look at the old spikes of years ago. That is what spikes should look like.

CCP Quant: Of all those who logon in Eve, 1.5% do Incursions, 13.8% PVP and 19.2% run Missions while 22.4% mine.

40.7% Join a fleet. The idea that Eve is a PVP game is false, the social fabric is in Missions and Mining.

Care to elaborate?

What? You sometimes get a wardec from a podunk operation based out of hisec? Let me guess. They send an occasional interceptor into your space to harass your miners? Ooooooooohhhhhj!! Dangerous!!! How exciting!!!!

You can advance by becoming closer buddies with the leadership personally in chats outside of game? They'll promote you? (So bootlicking is the path to advancement? .... Or what is the path?)

I've not tried to change the game in any way. And while some games are on the decline, it's clear that EVE is having problems right now. All I'm pointing out is that these problems exist, I'm not pretending there are no problems with the game. Bury your head in the sand all you want, but don't go pretending your not a big part of the problem.

Sounds bad (though I've always been of the mindset that if you can't find work you aren't looking hard enough), but that doesn't mean the entire world is in dire straits, nor does it mean that EVE is perfect as is.
