I just use fail over clustering to run the new stuff parralel to the old stuff for a few days/weeks till i know the new stuff is stable

i agree that while getting compensation just because the DT is a little longer then usually is stretching it and just stupid, but i do agree that if the DT goes past certain time(like 2-3 hours or so more) some sort of "we screwed up with something so here is something as a apology" may be appropriated, just IMHO X
