Shocked

Hello Barrak and welcome back to Eve.

Wow, that's a lot of info. Hopefully I can give you some idea on how to proceed.

First of all Faction Standings can't be shared between characters like Corporation and Agent standings, so fleeting up to get more than one character Faction standings at the same time won't work. Basically the character who accepts the Storyline / Event Agent mission will be the only one to get the Faction standing increase.

Course you can always fleet up multiple characters to help complete the mission much more quickly which would be very helpful. You can also accept the mission offer with one character (Trader) and use another character (Combat) to run the mission. I suggest using your Combat character to gain standings first so it can be used later on to complete missions for your Trader characters.

Anyway, best thing right now is to train up Diplomacy, Connections and Social skills. Doing that will give you better insight of what steps to do next.

Hope that helped and feel free to ask questions again.

Thanks DMC,

Sadly you confirmed my suspicions......

Essentially I am going to be limited by the trading characters ability to draw missions. Thus Barrak here will run anything but it will only be what the Trader can give him to run.

Given what I have read overnight, I take it that many of the missions are combat missions? Thus a brand new trading character will not be able to complete them? I'm only asking because if Barrak is of little use I'll stick him back in the WH.

Also, and probably more out of curiosity than anything else, how high would I be able to get a single standing with this plan and how many hours do you think it takes?

As the training is for a trader alt I'm not repairing anything and am not to concerned about upsetting the opposite factions. Though I wouldn't want Barrak to get in trouble

Personally I don't think your main combat character would be useless. Quite the contrary.

I'd work 'The Plan' with him for a little bit to gain access to the 4 main Factions space which would allow him to go everywhere. Then he can be the muscle to quickly complete missions for the other characters. Not to mention being able to enter all Empire space is especially good if you're interested in doing Exploration.

Basically if you're looking to just travel through high security Empire space or to do Trade, all you really need is to maintain high security Empire Factions above -5.00 standing. Now if you're looking to access Event Agents, most will accept Corporation standing as long as you maintain their Faction above -2.00 standing. Cosmos Agents are the only exception. They only accept Faction standing for access.

Not sure what you mean by a 'single' standing. If you only worked Event Agents for one set of allied Factions (Gallente & Minmatar or Amarr & Caldari) and only destroyed Faction NPC's / Structures required to complete the mission and didn't care about getting negative derived standing hits towards the other Factions, you can most definitely get well above +8.00 Faction standing. Probably close to +10.00 Faction standing.

As for amount of time it takes to work 'The Plan', nobody can really say since it depends on just exactly how high you wanna raise the standings. Not to mention how much personal time you want to invest in working 'The Plan'.

First thing to do is to train up the various Social skills and then see what all 4 main Empire Faction standings end up being at. Also I need to know just exactly what your 'end goal' is pertaining to Faction standings. That info would make it much easier for me to make suggestions which could help accomplish your goal.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful and as usual, if you have any more question, please feel free to ask..

DMC,

Again, thanks for taking the time to reply to me. I can see how I've not been entirely clear on my objectives.

Basically I want to created 2-4 trading characters that will sit in various hubs.

I need very specific faction standing for those characters to minimize tax at those stations. I only 'need' a single standing which is relevant to the station they are in, however if I can pick up the partner faction easily enough then that helps minimizing the number of accounts I use in the future.

That is the main and only goal.

The questions regarding my combat characters was based simply around - can they help the traders?

Initially my two main combat characters (as I have three) will be acting as scouts and couriers (if needed) thus they do require enough standing to be able to travel. Thus Barrak here can't afford to really upset the Amarrs much more (currently at -2.81 up from -5.25! with Diplomacy) and the Ammatars (-3.40).

I hope that answers your questions thus allowing you to answer mine Smile

I do have some separate questions which relate to the above.

1. Assuming that my combat characters can help. Do I simply warp in together with the Trader POD and complete the missions for them or can the trader stay in the station?

2. Based on his standings (corp and faction) Barrak here can take various L4 missions across Minmatar (faction), Gallente (faction) and Caldari Navy (corp). Does that help? and if so, is it any faster?

Hope that is clearly than my previous posts. Smile

Yeah, that's a lot more clear.

To get standings for the Traders while using the combat characters to run the missions - Basically the Traders accept the mission offer and go to the mission site with the combat character in fleet. After the fleet lands at the site, the Trader character warps back to station and waits for the combat character to run the mission, then afterwards the Trader completes the mission with the Agent.

Rinse and repeat.

Now about getting standings for a specific station, that sounds like you wanna use the stations Refining service. Only need Corporation standing (+6.67) for that which can be quickly gained using the method described above.

I'm not sure if it's still available (CCP has quickly changed a lot of stuff recently) but characters use to get a break on Broker Fee's if they had high Faction Standings.

Anyway, when you gain standing with one Faction, you'll also gain Derived standing increase with that Factions Ally so yeah, that's sorta like fast tracking positive standing increase with both Factions at the same time.

If you have any more questions, just ask.

Hey,

Thanks for the reply. It's low broker fee's that I need. I was thinking about refining at a later date though.

thanks for the confirmaiton on the missions.

I guess the same would apply to any mission.... ie. Once the Trader can take L4's then Barrak here can complete them. Though.... that is a tough grind to 8.00!

I've did some grind recently for my Trader. Got him to 1.5/3 (something around it) just visited Data Centers (haven't completed expensive missions) and did some amount of missions for Distribution agent lvl2. Pretty easy if you have something to do in parallel.
(in my case i have only one active account currently so running missions with 2 alts is not an option).

Barrak,

This is from Evelopedia :

https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Market_Discussions_FAQ#Pilot_Skills_and_Standings

Quote:
What impact do standings have on trading?

The Market Order Broker Fees paid on placing a standing Market order are influenced by a pilot's standings (unadjusted by skills) to the corporation that owns station at which he or she is setting an order, and the faction of that corporation. Sales Taxes are not influenced by standings, nor are Contract Broker Fees.

See also a chart illustrating the effect of positive standings on Market Order Broker Fees.

A stealth patch in early 2010 changed the relationship between Market Order Broker Fees and standings; the formula is now: BrokerFee % = (1.000 % – 0.050 % × BrokerRelationsSkillLevel) / 2 ^ (0.1400 × FactionStanding + 0.06000 × CorporationStanding), where FactionStanding and CorporationStanding are each in the range –10.00 to 10.00. Note that faction standings have more than two times the impact of corporation standings.

The minimum broker fee rate payable with Broker Relations at Level V and maximum standings is 0.1875%; the maximum, with no skills and horrible negative standings it's 4.000%.

Standings do not influence the price demanded by NPC corporations for their items (BPOs, skill books, &c.).

Now about your Trader characters - They can run the low level Event Agent missions (Career, Circle, Data Cert, etc.) easily enough. In fact, the Data Center Agents only require Tags to complete their missions so to quickly run through them, all you need is plenty of ISK. The standing percentage gained from the low level Event Agents may not seem like a lot but for characters with low or no standings, the gain is actually quite large.

Now about your main Combat characters, as long as they stay above -5.00 Faction standing they will have no trouble entering Empire space to complete missions for your Trader characters. For the Combat characters to access high level Agents, they will need to get above -2.00 Faction standing.

Cosmos Agents are the only ones that require Faction standing for access. All other agents will accept Corporation standing instead of Faction standing for access, as long as the Faction standing doesn't drop to or below -2.00 Faction standing. The Epic Arcs are easily accessible due to that. Since they don't incur any derived standings and can be completed every 3 months, getting high Faction standings without much negative effect is pretty easy.

I hope this helps, good luck and much success to you.

Hey.

DO the 'Event' agents count towards the 16 goal missions for an Epic(?)

I think you're asking about getting a Storyline mission offer. If so then the answer is yes. All types of missions, regardless if from regular Agents or Event Agents, are added to the 16 mission completion count.

Hey.

Interestingly I did not pick up any storyline mission whilst completing the career agents. I may be mistake as sometimes they were listed as such but that was normally their last mission in the chain.

My understanding was that you got sent somewhere else? though, I do not recall where I got that from. The missions (story) that I did collect were from the agents I was already running and they did not follow the 16 mission rule or anything close to it.

I'm currently grinding Amarr standing for my trader and have nearly completed career (x3) and circle agents. The only thing I have left due to a complete misread is the 2nd batch of datacentre agents along with the L4 initial run.

After that I was wondering what the gains would be by running the Caldaro lot? Without connections I am currently 3.51 with Amarr and 2.63 with Caldari.

Is it worth the time and hassle or am I better off running distribution missions and collecting storylines?

I should probably point out that Caldari standing will not benefit the character in question.

Hi Barrak,

Well, since CCP has been constantly changing things I could be mistaken but as far as I know, all completed missions are added to the 16 mission count for a Storyline mission offer. Those missions have to be the same level with the same Faction.

I believe most of the Career Agents offer 10 missions in their series so you should have had a Storyline offer about 1/2 way through the next Career Agents mission series. The Career Agents don't actually send players to another Agent, all they do is mention in their last closing text message that Sister Alitura in Arnon system is looking for Capsuleers to complete an Epic Mission Arc.

Standing Relationships

Quote:
Please note: In the Standing Relationships link, the 'In-Game Inter-Faction Relationships' graph is read from the top down and the 'Derived Inter-Faction Standing Modifier' graph is read from left to right.

As for doing Caldari Event Agent missions to help increase Amarr Faction standing, according to the Standings Relationship Graph linked above, Caldari will give derived standing gains to Amarr until Amarr reaches +5.00 Faction standing. Probably a good idea to run the lower level Caldari Event Agents up to that standing amount for Amarr, then train up the Connections skill to boost Amarr Faction standing up even more.

Now about keeping track of missions for Storyline offer, check out the Storyline Tracker = http://eve.timers.dk/

Hopefully this info helps.

Good luck to you.

Thanks DM.

I'm running distribution missions now..... that is fun Big smile

I'll have another look at that link. To be fair I think you posted it before or on their main standings page. So a bad miss on my part.

Now that I have had two storyline missions I can confirm that I didnt get anything that looked like that in my journal and didnt receive any direct messages. But as you said, this isn't how it works for the career agents.

I think I have a bit of a grind ahead of me as I am at 5.6 faction standing but can not run combat missions (though I have been informed that Distribution, if ran correctly, are better than comabts). However the SL missions are only giving 0.3 Shocked

lol.... well, better get back to it.

THanks for the assists!

Ahhh, you're welcome, glad to help out whenever I can. Feel free to ask questions whenever needed.

As for gaining more Amarr Faction standing, make sure to train up the Connections skill asap. That will increase your current positive standings and don't forget to train up the Social skill as well. That will increase the amount of standing gained for completing missions.

By the way, have you already completed the 3 Data Center 'Cert' Agents and also completed the mission series for the Agent that's listed on the cert ?

Other that that, it sounds like you're on the right track now. Hope you have much success working 'The Plan'..

My mission running char is quite new so my standings are still rather equal. If you have had good social skills, couldn't you just run X number of missions in each faction space and then rotate, and that way, slowly work your way up for all the empire factions. So like do 20 caldari, then 20 gallente, then 20 amarr, then 20 minmatar missions. Then repeat.

Hello and thanks for posting.

As for your question - Yes you could do that and like you said, slowly bring them all up equally. The key word here is 'Slowly'.

Since your character is basically starting out fresh, you can easily get very high Faction standings rather quickly with the 4 main Factions just by working the Event Agents listed in 'The Plan'.

I suggest you work the low level Event Agents (Circle, Career and Data Center 'Cert' Agents) and then see how your standings look. You'll be surprised at how fast it actually is compared to working 16 regular missions just to get one Storyline Mission offer.

Besides that, you could end up declining that Storyline offer due to it being an encounter mission against one of the 4 main Factions. That means you'd have to do another 16 regular missions again just for another chance to gain Faction standing increase.

I have been working the repair plan for a few days now. Due to my working for both caldari and gallente agents my faction for both had been goin down the drain for quite some time.

I tried to salvage what i could by switching every now and then but the standings losses are bigger then the gains and in the end you wind up with negative faction standings for both.

So i began working the plan. However i noticed that doin the career missions for one faction also gives faction loss for the other. If i do the military career agent mission set for gallente faction i gain roughly +0.2 faction at the end of the series but i loose -0.1 faction for caldari.

I suppose theres no way around that and in the end you gain more then you loose but if you need to repair just 1 faction you definitly need to keep and eye on your opposing faction

Nhoor,

Yeah, it's basically a dance. Two steps forward and one step back.

That's the reason for the 'Bounce' action to the opposing Faction. Just gotta keep watch on the standings and switch Faction when needed to raise standings without cutting off access to the previous Faction.

Anyway, I hope you have good luck and much success working 'The Plan'..

Just wanted to say many thanks to DMC for pulling all this together and even more thanks for sharing it with the rest of us New Eden bastards. It's always a blessing when someone goes out of their way to piecing together lost, broken, or out of date data and knowledge and another blessing when they bring it to the rest of the world for all to learn of it. The fact that pilots new and old can benefit from this information equally and completely is yet another blessing in itself. The resources and sense of direction it offers can save many players countless hours trying to untangle and understand the web-like myriad of processes and activities necessary to healing the fiery tensions no doubt many have unknowingly or carelessly allowed to fester between them and their would-be Empire faction hosts.

I, myself, will soon be employing said knowledge to un**** my current status with the Minmatar and Galente so I can have a go at running missions in the other half of Empire space for a change -- and potentially maybe even open the door to other Epic Arcs as well. You are a gentleman and a scholar. I solute you, friend, and wish you well and safe travels in Eve and in (RL) life. Happy hunting.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

Sobaan Tali,

Thank you very much for those kind words.

Big smile

Repairing negative Faction standings may seem like a long drawn out process but in reality it takes very little time when applying the steps in the Faction Standing Repair Plan.

I hope you have much success and good luck working 'The Plan'.
