Wouldt it be possible to get autcomplete with TAB like in linux when in chat?

Alot of names are horribly long and weird.

It could also be used to systems and mods and shiptypes in chat.

i dont know if this has be suggested before so sorry if its a duplicate.

You can click and drag just about anything that can be linked already, dude.

The last, and I honestly mean last, or ever thing we need in EVE is automation. Screw that. Autofill a word, name, ect. No auto anything. Bad.

Judging by the way you type, it really seems more like a "I'm lazy do this for me Idea"

Also you can already click and drag Names, Items, and Systems into chat. So why would this benefit anyone?

So it's also redundant.

I stand by my hypothesis;

in an age of autocorrect and automated typing (where the computer corrects your grammar or, better yet, write out whole sentences for you) people are losing the ability to write coherently without the aid of such things.

Seriously though... I once corrected the essay of my co-worker's daughter. I'll admit, I was not expecting much from a high-school level paper. But I was honestly amazed by the grammatical and spelling horrors I came across.
It literally read like Twitter had vomited all over it. Entire words replaced by letters... little to no punctuation... conjunctive adjectives, non-existent.

I honestly wanted to laugh. But instead I cried because this is the generation that will follow me.

Fortunately, we'll be able to easily disenfranchise them of their right to vote, because they can't read contracts or user agreements.

use standard acronyms, like DDA, DC, sRAR, mASB, sAAR, HAML's, HML's, etc
and slang, like cap x-fer, autos, arties, heavies, sentries,
and contractions for names, everyone calls me Xe or 'eos....

problem solved for all but the strangest of situations, no coding needed

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

To be fair, I tutor honor students for a living. Their writing isn't quite as you describe. They know that words are supposed to be words, etc. What they lack is any sense of structure or rhetoric.

But I suppose that's a different discussion.

Anyhow, autocorrect? Are you ******* with us? That's absurd. Learn to type -- or go back to actual text MUDs, learn to type there (like so many of us did), and then come back to Eve.

I would very much like to see speech to text integrated into this game. In addition to helping in the accessibility of the game to some of the physically impaired, it would be an excellent way of keeping your hands free during combat.

For the sake of game accessibility, I don't know with auto-completing chat for keywords only (character names, item, system names or other in-game stuff) in chat window is dumbing down the game.

The older generations aren't much better. Heck, a good chunk of the alliance leaders in this game are close to incoherent. I've always found it odd how hundreds or thousands of nerds allow themselves to be lead by someone who's intellectually incapable of composing a well structured sentence. vOv

This. At work I was praised as a "good writer/one of the better writers" whereas I consider myself a "meh writer" (my forte is on the quantitative side, IMO) but given how horrible most people are at writing I shine as a paragon of awesomeness....which I find risible.

If there is ever an autocomplete option added, I strongly hope it can be turned off. I won't want it ever. The times I would take advantage of it are far fewer than the times it will get in my way.

I'm not aware that there was ever a time when normal people had decent grammar. If anything, the average has improved with autocomplete.

Every time I hear someone say that some QoL improvement is just laziness I want to take their autodialers, contact lists; hell, their whole freaking computer away. To more delete for you. You have to use pen and paper because typewriters just made people lazy. You can't use technology and still complain about laziness. Do you walk everywhere or do you use transport? Do you go to the grocery store or do you farm?

Writing words without mistakes probably has improved but all the rest has gone down the drain. Who here uses proper grammar/orthography in SMS or WhatsApp messages, on Twitter or Facebook? Every SMS I receive (that is not from a bot from my carrier) is written without punctuation, without lower/upper case and with lots of abbreviations. The same is already the case for chats in EVE.
