An Unorthodox Fix to "Cruisers Online"

The Problem
The most effective anti-blob tool in game right now (bombs) are effective against battleships but (relatively) ineffective against cruisers, so large alliances have taken to using cruiser sized vessels as the workhorse of their fleets.

The Solution
Introduce a new type of Bomb doing the same damage to cruisers but half the flight time.

Explosion Radius: 200 m^2
Damage: 3200 (after skills)
Flight time: 6 seconds
Velocity: 3,333 m/s

Same damage to everything 200 m^2 and smaller, less to everything bigger... 20km range 6 second flight time.

The Result
No matter what size of ship you're in, you cant just follow the anchor and press F1. Large fleets may actually have to split up and attack with multiple small groups instead of one mindless anchor-following blob.

So, um, destroyers online? Why not just nerf bombers if you want more large ships? (And I agree this would be a good thing.)

So your solution is to make cruisers as obsolete in Null as battleships seem to have become?

Can't say it appeals to me.

sounds good we need more AOE-Damage posibilitys not less :)

Destroyer (exept t3) have a very big sig they would also die in those bombs.

I like cruisers tyvm >_> this would be so effective/OP it would be ridiculous.

Stacking penalty past a certain threshold could work. Something like applying the same stackign penalty to module but only past let's say the 15th rep or whatever number is better balanced. It prevent liberal application of remote reps while still letting smaller force use their multiplier. If you don't put a threshold, a single logi would trigger the 4th level of stacking penalties making anything over 2 absolutely worthless.

A different scale MIGHT be needed for different rep size (capital reps comes to mind).

I think it would be nice if you qualified these sentiments occasionally.

Example: t1 ospreys can be fit to rep nearly 2400hp/s and remain capstable. This is achieved through using large remote shield boosters which should logically be fit on "large" vessels as their name implies. The solution is to give reps a sig size as well and that reductions to their effectiveness be felt by ships that are under the catagory the reps are designed for.

For further reading on the very first page of F&I for the new forums shows something interesting written by ytterbium I think covering local vs remote reps.

The issue of logi has been around at least that long and god knows how many more years than that but it takes forever to get anything done in this place.

Delete all ships from the game except rookie ships and shuttles. Remove all weapons and modules from the game except civilian variants. Remove all drones except civilian hobgoblins. Take shields away from POSes. Remove anchored bubbles.

EVE is now balanced.

don't work as well in large fleets where logi becomes a problem but med sized gangs these are a good option
